I’ve lost a lot of weight recently but I still feel huge and that I have a lot of body fat

Would you look at me and think Shock she’s so overweight?

OP posts:
JaceLancs · 20/01/2018 12:06

I completely understand - I’ve lost 4 stone but still feel fat - want to lose another 2 but know I’ll still feel fat!
Just occasionally I’ll see myself by chance in a reflection and think actually I look pretty good - but most of the time I feel fat
You look great - just need to tone a little - wear flattering clothes and gain some confidence
2018 is going to be the year I crack it!

Alittleconcerned1980 · 20/01/2018 12:07

How long have you been doing that exercise for?

I do similar - 3 weights, 3 cardio and 1 yoga and my stomach is flat (4 pack)

NewYearNiki · 20/01/2018 12:08

Maybe do some pilates?

Good for toning your core.

TatianaLarina · 20/01/2018 12:08

I think if you’ve been fat it will take you a while to get used to the idea that you’re not any more.

Alittleconcerned1980 · 20/01/2018 12:09

I reckon you should see results 3 months or so with your regime.

blackteasplease · 20/01/2018 12:11

Blimey, no! I'd say you are much slimmer than average!

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 20/01/2018 12:12

I wouldn't describe you as slim but I wouldn't see you and think "overweight" either. I would describe you as "standard" with a very small amount of more weight to lose and some toning to be done. You have a nice waist to hip curve going on. Congrats on your weight loss 😊

ConciseandNice · 20/01/2018 12:13

You look like me and I feel grossly fat so I know where you’re coming from. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been apart from during pregnancy. It’s so depressing.

Jaimx86 · 20/01/2018 12:13

It depends whether you store your weight on your stomach. If your stomach is your largest part, then overall I don't think people would think you are huge. I don't think many people look around and think about people's weight when they see them.

MsHarry · 20/01/2018 12:14

No I wouldn't. You look slim.

demirose87 · 20/01/2018 12:17

I'd say you're somewhere in the middle but more towards slim than overweight. You look fine. Don't stress

ThisLittleKitty · 20/01/2018 12:18

I wouldn't say slim either. Average. I doubt anyone thinks your fat.

CountFosco · 20/01/2018 12:20

What's your BMI? Aim for a healthy BMI. Are you 1 stone over a BMI of 25 (so a BMI of 28ish?) or 1 stone over the middle of the healthy BMI range (in which case you probably still have a healthy BMI).

What's your waist measurement? It should be under 31". Or, what's your height? Your waist should be less than half your height.

Don't post a photo of yourself on MN, you'll get so many different reaction it will tell you nothing. Record your weight and measurements as your weight drops, I don't feel much smaller than a year ago but I know my waist is 6" smaller!

Jux · 20/01/2018 12:20

No way are you fat! Believe me, I envy you.

What diet?

I spent my whole life thinking I was gross, fat, lumpen. In my very late 50s and I see photos of the young me and I was a bloody BABE!!!!!! I never knew it at the time though.

Do what you can about your self-belief, as you are lovely now.

TatianaLarina · 20/01/2018 12:20

I would describe you as slim, you just need a bit of toning.

(I do wonder if people saying you’re not is sour grapes).

Jstorm77 · 20/01/2018 12:22

Op, if you're doing weight training then please don't rely on bmi charts to tell you if you're overweight or not, I'm a bodybuilder with 18% body fat and according to the bmi index I'm obese! It doesn't take into consideration muscle weight.

April229 · 20/01/2018 12:22

No, you look great.

ThisLittleKitty · 20/01/2018 12:25

Sour grapes? The op herself has said she's a stone overweight.

lljkk · 20/01/2018 12:27

You look thinner than most people, OP.

user1471459936 · 20/01/2018 12:35

Slimmer than a lot of women but I wouldn't call you slim. And 30% body fat is quite high. Well done on the weight loss so far.

trumptown · 20/01/2018 12:36

OP I have also lost a lot of weight in the last few years (over 6 stone) but my body image still has to catch up. I am shocked when I catch sight of my reflection sometimes at how I look, because I still think of myself as much bigger. You look great, and well done on the weight loss.

PinguDance · 20/01/2018 12:40

Christ - my tummy looks pretty much like that and I am known as 'the skinny one', even though I know I would like to get more toned. I'm small though with skinny legs and bum- with clothes on people notice how 'big' you are overall I think, so though I have tummy flab people think I'm slim whereas my friend with a washboard stomach has bigger hips, thighs and bum and thinks she looks fat. I also know a woman who is about a size 16/18 but is tall and carries it in such away that I think she looks great.
You can't win!

Also if you're on Instagram read this www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/jan/17/has-strong-become-respectable-face-skinny-for-young-women

TatianaLarina · 20/01/2018 12:40

The op herself has said she's a stone overweight

I just wonder how overweight the people are who are saying she’s not slim.

BMI is a very imprecise science. My DH is technically overweight by BMI, but it’s all muscle. He has virtually no fat on him.

I’m technically underweight, but I’m just very tall and always been skinny. This is my norm.

ThisLittleKitty · 20/01/2018 12:43

Slim to me is a size 8/10 which I don't think the op is sour grapes would be calling the op fat which I said she clearly isn't.she looks around a 12 to me which is a nice size but again not slim just average. That's not an insult.

MikeUniformMike · 20/01/2018 12:43

Yes, you're huge.
