Lee Ryan (Blue/Eastenders) - surprisingly nice!

Windsor Davies - lived near me when I was a child and was always very sweet
The man with the ears(?!) from Are You Being Served? also lived near me as a child and was horrid!
Ant and Dec - both lovely
Alex James (Blur) - v nice!
Julie Walters - lovely
Craig Charles - LOVELY!!

ticketstub · 22/01/2018 02:05

I met Pete Waterman once, he was very nice and pleasant.

Omgineedanamechange · 22/01/2018 05:53

I was hanging around outside his hotel trying to meet him when a car came out with him in the back, so I naturally threw myself over the bonnet to try and stop it. It was travelling about 2mph, a body guard got out, hauled me off and the car drove off. Sorry it’s not a more exciting story.

cambodianfoxhound · 22/01/2018 06:13

Nettletheelf love your work here...

I know someone who waitressed in a restaurant and Keith Floyd came in. Absolutely awful apparently, dreadfully rude to all wait staff and unbearable to wait on.

BollySBK · 22/01/2018 07:23

Used to work in a large department store in London, which appeared to allow some famous people to treat staff as rubbish, as loudly, and demeaningly as possible. Served Cilla - frankly incredibly rude, many Z listers, who seemed orange and equally rude, and a good few 'International' celebrities who I had no idea who they were (but apparently I was supposed to). That went down well, I can tell you!
However - Patrick Stewart was an utter delight, so friendly, and the late great Sir Brucie, who asked if it was true that 'he got nothing for a pair' when buying socks, was the sweetest chap ever. Penelope Keith was lovely too. Win some, lose some! :-)

SuperBeagle · 22/01/2018 07:26

Johnny Depp was a darling. Polite, humble, complimentary, generous with his time. Made sure that everyone who was there to see him got photos/autographs.

Miriam Margolyes was a miserable turnip of a woman. Incredibly rude.

Hygge · 22/01/2018 19:51

"Friend met Jeremy Clasrkson and said he puts on a persona for the camera and is unpleasant otherwise."

He's unpleasant on camera, how much worse must he be in real life?

MikeUniformMike · 22/01/2018 20:00

I can't stand him on tv but my friend said he was definitely different off camera.

Shockers · 22/01/2018 20:10

Bloody hell, he’s an even bigger fit in real life?!

Shockers · 22/01/2018 20:10

*git

MikeUniformMike · 22/01/2018 20:18

Miserable, nothing like on Top Gear until the camera was rolling iirc.

MissEliza · 22/01/2018 20:57

I keep reading about Cilla Black. Why did was she so up herself? I loved Blind Date but apart from that she wasn't very talented.

AgentCooper · 22/01/2018 21:21

A few famous folk came into my old work (tourist destination in Glasgow).

Alex Kingston (was in ER and Doctor Who) - friendly, chatty and absolutely beautiful
Michael Buerk - very nice
Eric Knowles off the Antiques Roadshow - very nice
Rick Wakeman - absolutely lovely and very funny
Sophie Dahl - really sweet and friendly. Stunning but very thin.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 22/01/2018 21:24

I've heard that Clarkson is a right miserable old wotsit off-camera.

Someone told me that Nico Rosberg is lovely and chatty and drinks like a fish.

TheMadGardener · 22/01/2018 23:13

Shirley Bassey was guest of honour at my cousin's college graduation in Cardiff. She was incredibly glammed up but fri. When they had to move between two venues she happily hoicked up her dress and hopped on the minibus with the students.

My aunt works at a venue which hosted an Antiques Road show recording. She had to liaise with the BBC people. Fiona Bruce was awful. She'd come out and do her little filmed bits and in between wouldn't talk to anyone. They seemed to make sure all the "little people" were kept far away from her. Super unfriendly.

TheMadGardener · 22/01/2018 23:14

Oops - "fri" = "friendly"

Whatwouldkeithrichardsdo · 22/01/2018 23:45

Stephen Fry - very entertaining, revels in being spotted and holding court

Arthur Smith - polite to the public. approachable, eccentric, really great company

Victor Lewis Smith - charming

Jeremy Clarkson - loud and often appears irritated or impatient. Tiresome.

Amy Winehouse - a little angel.

Matt Lucas - shy

Graham Norton - oh when he used to get drunk back in the day, he was hilarious. Obsessed with his dog.

IndieTara · 23/01/2018 00:04

I spent a day and an evening with Murray Walker. He was an absolute legend which made me very happy as he's my hero!
Worst famous person I ever met was Phil Collins, complete arrogant arse

QuackPorridgeBacon · 23/01/2018 00:15

TruJay Aww, That’s made my day that. Love when children aren’t let down by people they adore.

I haven’t met anyone really. Except Les Mckewon... Does that count lol he’s nice but can have a bitchy streak to him. I’m gutted I’ve not met anyone more famous though.

KevinTheYuccaPlant · 23/01/2018 07:01

I have a certain amount of sympathy for Jeremy Clarkson, he's been needing a double hip replacement for over 10 years, but hasn't managed to clear space in his schedule to get it done. My husband was in enough pain just needing one done, so I suspect JC has been functioning on very strong painkillers for some time.

MichaelBendfaster · 23/01/2018 11:44

When they had to move between two venues she happily hoicked up her dress and hopped on the minibus with the students.

God love her. Grin I've always loved the Shirl and this makes me like her even more.

Piggywaspushed · 23/01/2018 14:11

On a sad note , I met Tinky Winky (and the associated Sheila's Wheel) many times as his DCs were at my school.

:(

midnightmisssuki · 23/01/2018 14:16

i am devestated to hear Phil Collins isnt so nice - i adore him and his music! i secretly hoped he would be the most amazing human being to talk to.

justifiede · 23/01/2018 14:52

michaelBendfaster I love your name!
It reminds me of a lovely celeb I met in London in a random pub who kissed me! He was very drunk. I still melt thinking about it.
Peter Kay wasn't rude but not as nice.
saw him in a restaurant waited until he had finished his meal and my friend, quietly so as not to attract attention, asked him for a pic, he smiled and said no I'll do it another time and the people who were with him scowled at us. Then a week later he's on Jonathan Ross stating he loves taking selfies with fans and always has time for them.

Redhead17 · 23/01/2018 14:53

I met Nick Knowles too twice and he was an absolute twat
