Envy that you met Donna Tartt!

secondhoneymoon · 19/01/2018 13:18

@Frolie we were in a queue in a shop next to 'Audrey Roberts' and her husband 'Alan' once. My son, aged about 7, said very loudly 'that's that woman from Coronation Street'. I was mortified but she and her hubbie were very sweet and said it didn't matter when I apologised. Think they quite enjoyed it! Missed that one off my list. Quite often see Corrie actors in various places as they film locally

socksandpants · 19/01/2018 13:23

Frolie, you reminded me, I was in Debenhams in Oxford Street and held the door open for the person behind me and it was Ben De Lis (Debs designer) and a Debenham's woman. I smiled. He scowled at me. And they both sailed through without a thank you. He was wearing too many scarves, he's not a tall guy and looked ridiculous. I was going to buy cushions and didn't buy any of his. Silly man!

socksandpants · 19/01/2018 13:25

secondhoneymoon Was that John Lewis? I saw "Audrey" in the cafe in there once (and a pregnant posh spice as she was then, but only from a distance, she was buying towels) and she was making eye contact with everyone. I think she wanted to be noticed!

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 19/01/2018 13:40

Hugh F-W..... Met him and pal worked for him..... Can't say why she left as thread would be deleted...

Juliet Stevenson - fab, down to earth, a real giggle...
Am very envious of those who met the fab Alan Rickman.... A favourite actor.

Maria friedman - lovely, pleasant woman.
Michael Ball..pleasant, chatty.

HangingRoundInABofAlorsStance · 19/01/2018 13:48

Was it hair related? something about mary

2birds1chick · 19/01/2018 13:56

This was my most recent celeb meeting - In a cafe on Bondi beach...
Me and DW were quietly moaning about a man and woman sat in the middle two seats of four, looking out over the beach, meaning we couldn't enjoy the view over lunch too.
When they finally went to leave, realised who the guy was, and all was forgiven Wink he was very nice.

MissDuke · 19/01/2018 14:05

Anyone I have met has been friendly but then it was short encounters really. Jane Seymour, David Cameron, Philip Schofield (many years ago), Princess Anne, Gary Lightbody the singer from Snow patrol (really nice guy), Christian Slater and quite a few other politicians.

DH met Alan Shearer and Ryan Giggs and said they were awful.

MissionItsPossible · 19/01/2018 14:10

2birds1chick Who is that?

IfeelFloopy · 19/01/2018 14:12

DP works with and meets a lot of well known people through his work in TV.

Apparently James Corden used to be nice but is now horrible to work with. When he was pranked on Saturday Night Takeaway they had to edit a lot of it out due to his shocking reaction.

mintich · 19/01/2018 14:12

@mission Ronan Keating!

ArcheryAnnie · 19/01/2018 14:13

@TheMadGardener I have had a minor crush on Jonathan Hyde since I was a teenager so am madly jealous. Very pleased to hear that he is nice, and that he likes dogs.

2birds1chick · 19/01/2018 14:14

Mission Ronan Keating from Boyzone... He was presenting Australian X Factor at this time

secondhoneymoon · 19/01/2018 14:14

@socksandpants no it was Home Bargains on Regent Road😂😂😂

MissionItsPossible · 19/01/2018 14:17

Thanks!

ArcheryAnnie · 19/01/2018 14:18

bravobravo I met Grace Jones and she was great - mad as a box of frogs, obviously, but went out of her way with a surprise intervention to help the charity at the event we were all at, and when I went up to her afterwards to say thank you, she gave me a massive kiss, which I have had as a treasured memory (and a thing to make my sister jealous) ever since. I am sorry your encounter with her wasn't good!

wonkylegs · 19/01/2018 14:33

A friend and colleague did a project for Duncan Ballantyne and then refused all other work from him as he was so hard to work for due to his attitude - he pays well but apparently it's still not worth it.

The80sweregreat · 19/01/2018 14:40

so jealous that someone on here was asked out by Frank Skinner! I think he is lovely. ( hopes he is as nice as he seems on TV)
Prince Charles came to the town in Wales where we lived and the children had the afternoon off school - he said to one of the kids ' i hear you were given the afternoon off school, glad I am useful for something' - I couldnt see him that well as there was a big crowd, but i heard him speak. Never met anyone famous to speak to or seen anybody famous - my friend bumped into one of the Gallaghers in london when he was out with one of his children in a pram, she said he that he said sorry although it wasnt his fault! She also spotted Andy Sumner from the Police and walked past him, she really wanted to say how much she used to adore them, but didnt have the courage to say anything.

StarkintheSouth · 19/01/2018 14:51

Met quite a lot... I met Rolf Harris long before his arrest and let's just say I wasn't surprised when it all came out. Jamie Winstone is really nice, if a bit scatty. Daisy Lowe was surprisingly low key considering she's a knockout. Naomi Campbell was as expected. Dynamo, Example - really nice and chatty. Worked with Razorlight and Johnny Borrell was actually pleasant, but did make some lame jokes.
They're just humans at the end of the day!

BearSoFair · 19/01/2018 14:53

Sean Pertwee. Nothing wrong with him as such, he wasn't rude but he just seemed like he really wasn't interested in talking to people. Which would be fair enough if he was going about his day to day life, but it was at a convention so hardly a surprise that people would want to meet him!

On the other hand Billy Bragg surprised me with how nice he is! I was never a big fan but since meeting him I have a lot more time for his work. Lovely man, offered to buy me a coffee as it was a freezing day and we were stuck outside.

BearSoFair · 19/01/2018 14:57

Oh, meant to agree with the poster on page one about David Miliband. We were on a train with him and his family, his boys were looking out of the window with our DD and he started chatting to DH and I. Took me quite a while to realise why he seemed familiar!

Lndnmummy · 19/01/2018 14:59

Duncan Banatyne at dinner - he was charming

Ross Kemp - also at a dinner he was really really nice

Prince Charles and Camilla at a function - Both were charming.

A fair few footballers through work. Not one of them have been nice, all arrogant and pretty dim.

sadiesnakes · 19/01/2018 15:01

Justin Timberland in the Kclub in Kildare, playing golf, seemed hurried and reluctant to have photos taken, so vaguely friendly.
Conor McGregor, said how's it going to me outside Louis Vuitton off Grafton street, he then went inside LV and had a look around.
My daughter works in boots in Airport and regularly see's Aiden Gillen aka little finger in GOT, always seems hurried and pissed off.

Lndnmummy · 19/01/2018 15:01

Oh and the lady that plays Shirley in east Enders lives clothes to me. She is awful, tripping around the nail salon and Sainsburys in her sunglasses

RadioGaGoo · 19/01/2018 15:15

Bob Geldof - rude, grumpy arse.
