royal family as well are pleasant.

Falmer · 19/01/2018 00:27

Actually touched David Bowie's hand at a concert.(rip) Didn't get to speak with him though. Did get to speak to the Four Tops backstage, who were very charming and the one with glasses kissed my cheek. When In catering, met and chatted with Brian Tilsey (corrie) and Angela Rippon. Both very nice. Once sat at the next table to Les Dennis who was with his family and he was a bit showy offish and loud, but had only just got famous (with Russ Abbot)

Reddlion · 19/01/2018 00:35

oh yeah and usain bolt is really cool was in a club with him

TheMadGardener · 19/01/2018 00:35

I once had lunch with Jeffrey Archer (pre- his prison days). He was AWFUL. Like a human bulldozer. He talked loudly about himself all through lunch and if anyone else started speaking he talked over them.

Bobby Davro was a total idiot who thought he was hilarious. My uncle nearly punched him in the face after being stuck with him all day at a golf event.

Jonathan Hyde (actor, plays a lot of villains) was lovely and had lovely dogs.

Chris Bonington is lovely.

Met a certain person from TOWIE but I didn't know who she was as I've never seen TOWIE. She was hugely offended that I didn't know.

TheMadGardener · 19/01/2018 00:36

Oh and i was working in the food halls at Harrods one Christmas as extra help. A youg guy with a shaved head and ripped jeans went to pay for seven hundred pounds worth of cavier with a platinum Amex. I thought he must have knicked it so i went to call the fraud number and my friend (also working) came up wetting herself that he was there. He was some famous boy band guy (cant remember who). Anyway I let her take over serving him. So I met him, but no idea who he was except v famous in the 90s!

RinonaWyder · 19/01/2018 01:05

Mark Read who was in the band A1 is one of the nicest, loveliest guys you could ever meet. I've met him a couple of times in the last few months and ended up having a lovely chat in the pub with him last time! We're friends now Grin

I've met a few other celebrities, mostly at meet and greet type events, all been nice:
Kristina Rihanoff
Tristan MacManus (he's actually a very funny guy!)
Derren Brown (got picked to go on stage)
Rhod Gilbert
Jimmy Carr
Ford Kiernan & Greg Hemphill
Darius Danesh

kissbeforelippy · 19/01/2018 01:08

Lulu - lovely and signed my copy of Paddington (I was 8)
Pal Aaron - really sweet as I got very flustered as was mad on The Bill at the time
John Inverdale - very nice but I didn't realise who he was for ages
Harry Kane - really friendly
Ozzie Ardilles - very, very nice man
Rev Ian Paisley - very polite
Hebert Lom - a true gentleman

Pagwatch · 19/01/2018 06:15

I always think when I read these threads that if I were famous I'd probably get a mixture of 'yes she was lovely' and fucking hell, what a wanker' depending on life stuff.
I remember a woman at a swimming gala asking me rudely if I could move up and stop hogging all the space the day after my sister died. I hadn't actually noticed her and I wasn't very polite in my reply. We all have shite days.

Pagwatch · 19/01/2018 06:19

pannalash

No, it was tricky turn on a staircase and I was in a rush. My handbag swung out and smacked him in the bollocks. He made an 'oufffff' noise and folded a bit. i died little but he was nice about it Grin

Maddiemademe · 19/01/2018 06:28

I can't say names but when I used to escort I had a few celebrity clients. All bar 2 had massive egos but to be honest they were z list reality stars. The 2 real celebrities who would say are an A and a B list were absolutely lovely (well then again bith famously married so not that lovely).

Shockers · 19/01/2018 06:28

I lined up at a festival to get my (newly purchased) CD signed by Ade Edmondson, who had been playing there with his folk band. He signed it without looking at, or speaking to me. I was an huge fan, but I thought he was really rude; it’s not as though I ambushed him in the street.

I’ve never listened to the CD because of his rudeness, but I doubt he’d care really.

Adrianflank · 19/01/2018 06:42

Was at the invictus games, brother is in the army and they had them as stewards, I was chatting to my brother and his friends, Prince Harry came over, really nice guy, but the cheeky fucke r asked us for a smoke for him and one of his security guards

TremendousWorkGodfrey · 19/01/2018 07:09

@Giggorata I am SO jealous you met Terry Pratchett Envy. I would love to have chatted to him. I met him very briefly at a book signing - he was nice but very busy, no time for chatting!

LakieLady · 19/01/2018 07:30

I met Nigel Slater in a cheese shop once , whilst dithering over the relative merits of Gorgonzola over a Roquefort ( it was Christmas and I am a total total cheese fiend ) . He suggested the Gorgonzola after a mutual tasting , and he was right . Pity I didn’t actually realise it was him until he’d left the shop , and the staff starting laughing when I mentioned that I’m sure I knew him as his voice was so familiar... bloody idiot . Lovely lovely man , but shy .

Bloody hell, I'm so jealous! I love Nigel Slater, he seems so sweet.

If I met him I would have to tell him how fabulous his chocolate fudge pudding is and how it's so easy to make that we call it "Piece of Piss Pudding",

After that he'd probably call the police.

LakieLady · 19/01/2018 07:37

I've met quite a lot of politicians. Ken Livingstone is witty, but arrogant and quite rude. Denis Healey and James Callaghan were both grumpy, but then they were quite old.

Tony Benn and Michael Foot were both lovely (Michael Foot and both took our dogs on a march and we walked along together), and Jeremy Corbyn is very sweet, mild-mannered and incredibly polite. I hope he hasn't changed.

This was back in the 1980s. If anyone had told me then that he'd be leader of the Labour Party in 30 years time, I'd have laughed at the thought.

socksandpants · 19/01/2018 07:46

I'm glad a couple of other people have said Amy Winehouse was lovely. I think she got bad press.

JustDanceAddict · 19/01/2018 08:03

I have met a few - and all pleasant I have to say!
I wouldn’t just go up to a famous person though as am too shy, so maybe becasise I’ve either been introduced, at an event, or through work, it’s been fine.
I did hear through a friend that Will Young was an arse, which disappointed me.

JustDanceAddict · 19/01/2018 08:10

I am
Pleased & it’s not outing to report that I met Victoria wood in a coffee shop when my kids were little. we had a little chat, and I realised who I was talking to and went all OMG inside! She was so nice and I was gutted when she died.

expatmatt38 · 19/01/2018 08:12

Boy George in a club in the 90s- friendly but quiet and cool! Was right at his fame resurgence !

Julianne Moore who was tiny and beautiful and very gracious and I am in awe of her ! U like Rob Pattinson - very less famous - at same event - rushed out in shades and into waiting car like a dick!

Will Champion from Coldplay - nicest most down to earth bloke ever - chatted for ages about kids etc - wish he was my friend !!
