Thiswayorthatway · 18/01/2018 21:57

Paula Radcliffe, saw her training for the New York marathon when walking in Cetral Park, she was lovely.

ArcheryAnnie · 18/01/2018 21:57

I got a lift hitchhiking with James Hunt in the early 1980s. He was very sweet. Nice car, good driver (as you might imagine). Did not try to mack on us two teenage girls, which is nice to be able to report.

PersianCatLady · 18/01/2018 21:58

No unfortunately I was a Year too young. Did see E17, worlds apart, EYC and 3T but no-one who made it as big as TT
At the time I thought nothing of meeting them because they were absolute nobodies who were going around under 18s nightclubs as a last ditch attempt for their record company to get some return on their investment.

I couldn't believe it a year later when they were on TV singing and I remembered who they were.

Wherearemymarbles · 18/01/2018 21:59

Were having a very large and strong bloody mary’s at a cafe at 9.30 after a very good wedding in NY. Our table ended up being joined by john malcovich and harvey kaitel. Very, very cool breakfast is was. I can imagine malcovich on a bad bad day is not such fun....

Olivia Coleman, meet her a dinner party once or twice (she is friends of friends) She is great fun. Met some others but the person who stands giant above them all is David Attenborough.

He is as lovely, charming and wonderful as you’d think. Our kids were awe stuck and you could never ever tire of talking to him.
Ive met him with my family on numerous occasions. Ive heard it said that in a roomful of A listers he’s the one they all want to talk to.

RueDeWakening · 18/01/2018 22:00

I met Neil Morrissey and Leslie Ash on a shoot once, we were filming an ad for Homebase.

He was really arsey and a bit of a twunt, she was lovely.

Bobby Robson was lovely.
Phil Collins was a jerk (but I got let into the event that he didn't have a ticket for and was complaining about in a "don't you know who I am?!" way :o )
Theresa May was lovely, as was her husband. She asked my DD about her 11+ and told her about how she went to a grammar school too and remembered the exam.
Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen was lovely (if slightly bonkers), had time for everybody.
Michael Owen, lovely.
Sol Campbell, top bloke, quite quiet and worked really hard.
Ranulph Ffienes - mad as a box of frogs :o excellent story teller though and had some hilarious ones. I booked him for a work event and was his contact on the day, it was memorable! He presented me with a signed copy of his book about Captain Scott as he left, I still have it somewhere.

FlashTheSloth · 18/01/2018 22:01

"He's not properly famous but well known I guess, Stephen Mulhern. He's so up his own arse it's unreal."

I've met him and he was lovely and seemed very genuine, was lovely to the DCs too.

Met Blue, they seemed ok, Duncan hung around for a bit of a chat.

Kian from the Loife. Seemed quite shy but happy to have a photo.

Ashley Roberts (ex Pussycat Doll), very polite and seemed nice, smaller in RL than I thought.

FlashTheSloth · 18/01/2018 22:03

I'm surprised someone said about Dec, on all these threads Ant and Dec have always had nothing but positive things to say.

HildaZelda · 18/01/2018 22:03

The late Dolores O' Riordan. The Cranberries were at the height of their fame at the time. She was very nice. Really down to earth. Fame never went to her head.

ArcheryAnnie · 18/01/2018 22:05

Went to a talk and then book signing with Brian Blessed. He was so absolutely brilliant in every way, I can't begin to tell you. (Don't know if that counts here as only talked to him at the book signing.)

ArcheryAnnie · 18/01/2018 22:05

Oh, and Bill Bailey let me go ahead of him in a Pret once. (Thanks, Bill.)

MycatsaPirate · 18/01/2018 22:06

Prince Andrew - ok
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice - surprisingly lovely
Pat Butcher from EastEnders - lovely
Peter Andre - also lovely
Chico (from X Factor) - great fun
Fatima Whitbread - so lovely I wanted to take her home and keep her
The two gay guys from gogglebox - absolutely hilarious and really lovely company
John Parrot (snooker) - nice guy
John Higgins (snooker) - really lovely
Robert Carlyle - lovely and gorgeous - let me skip in front of him at the cash machine.

Booie09 · 18/01/2018 22:10

Sarahh2014 · 18/01/2018 22:10

Peter Barlow from corrie in a nightclub in Doncaster about 15 years ago.v short like pp said

alfagirl73 · 18/01/2018 22:10

I'll second Robert Carlyle - really really lovely and kind bloke - not what you expect given the type of roles he tends to play.

TeaAndToast85 · 18/01/2018 22:12

@mnahmnah I saw him at Heathrow last year wearing a stupid hat. Bellend

Have you met anyone famous
forcryinoutloud · 18/01/2018 22:18

*I was woo'd by Chris Evens years ago. Not long after he got with Billy Piper. She looks a bit like me.

He's alright. Not as arrogant as you'd think.*

He wooed you AFTER he got with her? That indeed suggests he is a complete arrogant arse wipe!

10FingersOnTheFender · 18/01/2018 22:19

Victoria Wood - very unfriendly/not warm.

KingPrawnOkay · 18/01/2018 22:19

Tom Chaplin and Tim Rice-Oxley from Keane are sweethearts.
Top Gear/Grand Tour lads are nice too.
My mum met Bonnie Langford in Woolworths once and she bought me a packet of sweets when I was about 2 Grin
Cher Lloyd is a cow.
David Hasselhoff is one of the loveliest men, actually takes an interest in what you have to say.
Nick Grimshaw is the twattiest sleb I’ve ever met.
Brian Cox was really put out about being spotted once, wouldn’t say a word, just half-smiled at us but it was quite pained. Hope he was just having a bad day because everyone says he’s lovely!

KimchiLaLa · 18/01/2018 22:23

Michael Schumacher. He was so lovely. So friendly.

InvisibleLlama · 18/01/2018 22:23

Would like to stress - it's hard to judge people on meeting for a few moments, but, Frank Skinner was an ace table football gamester, and Frank Turner is genuinely the nicest guy in showbiz. Do look him up: Frank Turner: Songbook.
Perhaps I have a thing about Franks. Wish I'd met Frank Sidebottom.

forcryinoutloud · 18/01/2018 22:24

Joan Rivers.
She was lovely, I miss her, RIP

peachgreen · 18/01/2018 22:28

DH used to work in theatre so has met lots of stars. His faves were the Attenboroughs (David and Richard, both utterly charming, generous and soooo interesting - DH actually cried when Dickie passed away) and Derek Jacobi who showed a real interest in DH's job and was a total luvvie but in a nice way. Michael Ball absent-mindedly burped right in his face once and was very apologetic afterwards. Grin

Ooh we've both met Alan Rickman who was completely lovely - always at the theatre, remembered names and faces, chatted to ushers about their drama school ambitions, went full on Snape for tiny Harry Potter fans etc. Almost every theatre actor I know has a story about Alan Rickman sending them a cheque to help with drama school costs / introducing them to a director / coming to their showcase etc - very generous man.

So glad to see others agreeing re: Will Self. He really was incredibly kind to me and inspired me to be a better, more confident person.

My Dad met Angelina Jolie through work and said she was lovely, quite serious and a very hard worker, and made the effort to learn everyone's name.

Bill Oddie is always on these threads but he has severe social anxiety and has apologised a lot for the way he is in public encounters. I feel a bit sorry for him.

Andrew Lloyd Webber absolutely IS an arse. Friend used to work with him and he was a total nightmare in ways I couldn't outline because the thread would end up getting deleted. But very demanding and nasty.

I met Frank Turner a couple of times before he was famous and he was a total arse with HORRIBLE politics. Seems like he's changed!

littlebillie · 18/01/2018 22:31

Most famous or richest

maggieryan · 18/01/2018 22:35

Had to wait on the take that boys years ago in Australia when I was waitressing, Robbie was the nicest, friendly and well mannered and Gary Barlow was just plain rude, I lived close to Ronan Keating and don't get me started, an absolute gobshite if ever there was one. Met louis walsh(is he a celeb?) many times and he's a dote, bono used to drink in pub near to us years ago and he often used to bum cigarettes off us, he was ok, bit of a waffler and no surprise he likes the sound of his own voice. Knew all.boyzone and they were all sound (barr ronan) that's it reallySmile
