Oooh, oooh! I've always wanted to use this phrase! It's not a 'usual' American one. Would we say that Scrotus is in a 'right paddy'? My usual 'turn of phrase' would be that he's 'pitching a hissy'.

I’ve read a few pieces in a similar vein to that over the last few months so have stopped linking his stuff on here northwest. He did a rebuttal to the last one I saw, which seemed plausible so haven’t unfollowed him but I’ve been less inclined to post his musings on here. Though I also still see what garland, John Schindler, rick Wilson and a few others post just to see what their latest theories are, though mensch and Taylor are a bridge too far. Incidentally, mensch is now claiming that kamala Harris is an enemy (she’s a Tamil Tiger apparanetly , joining the motley crew of pelosi and schiff that mensch also has a problem with.

Why would the Republicans do this? How can Trump blame the Dems when they could've protected military pay - instead they chose not to?

Do they think people won't know ? A Bill was introduced by a Democrat senator and they chose not to back it.

I would venture it’s because:

1. they don’t care about protecting anything other than things that’ll financially reward them/give them power
2. it gives outlets like fox an opportunity to say “THE DEMS DONT CARE ABOUT THE SECURITY OF THE COUNTRY - THEYRE ENDANGERING US ALL” while neatly failing to mention things like actual facts. This in turn will lead to more people saying “urgh the MSM - they’re always so harsh on trump” as well as painting an imaginary target on the enemy to direct people’s anger towards and also stoking up more fears that prime people into accepting more authoritarian measures.

That would be my guess anyway.

Even if people aren’t personally affected by the shutdown, the optics of this can’t be good

I've been wondering about this too. The parts of government the extremist GOP values remain open, and the shutdown makes it harder to hold officials accountable for abuses of power. Do they really want it to end?

Yes Pain I also found Mensch and Taylor OTT to say the least. It can be difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff at the moment. But I'm sure we're all totally legit on here!

I have just a suspicion that this shutdown is going to 'harden off' some of the 2020 contenders.......
