To ask what your favourite nespresso* pods are & why?

Compatible pods* for clarity (& jumping on the back of the Tassimo thread)

I used to love the ones we got in Home & Bargain but they don't seem to have them anymore in my local ones. Apparently Lidl or Aldi do some but I can never find them.

Weirdly I'm not a fan of any of the actual nespresso pods :( help!

We have the reuseable and refillable pods for it which are good for loose leaf tea. But does anyone make any other ones we might like like tea or other drinks?

I had some lovely ones from Aldi over Christmas which were flavoured - we liked the cardamom and the spiced ones in particular. I think they were temporary though they were with the Christmas stuff. I’ve had decent ones from Poundstretcher too, the Morrisons ones were awful though.

insertimaginativeusername · 17/01/2018 20:03

I've bought some in my local Aldi since Christmas, they are with all the regular coffee in small boxes.

HoarseMackerel · 17/01/2018 20:15

I brought about ten boxes of the Aldi flavoured pods before Christmas!
It's only a hint of a flavour but really lovely.
Their standard ones are fine too.
I also like Taylor's but I also enjoy a random rummage in T K Maxx or Homesense but no idea what I have previously bought as they have all been one off obscure brands!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 17/01/2018 20:32

insert do they still have the flavoured ones? I loved them and was gutted when nespresso didn’t do linzertorte this year and they were a good alternative.

insertimaginativeusername · 17/01/2018 20:35

I haven't been since but I am going shopping tomorrow so will check and let you know!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 17/01/2018 20:38

I think I’ll call in tomorrow. I’m trying to not spend much this month so I’ve been avoiding Aldi as I always buy stuff I don’t need in there!

RandomUsernameHere · 17/01/2018 20:39

Aldi ones are good and I also tried a different brand and can't remember the name but it was from Ocado, also good.

walkingdowntheboulevard · 17/01/2018 20:56

Groupon is where i used to get a good selection of them from.

Middleoftheroad · 17/01/2018 21:01

Aldi/Lidl, Home Bargains and sometimes 99p store. The yummy L'or? ones were £2 in Waitrose before Xmas.

But £2 is my absolute max as we get through a few boxes a week. Usually the Alid are about £1.65 but they've been on offer for £1.35. OP my Home B has a couple of types. Try a different branch if you have one?

Our Tassimo machine doesnt get a look in now Nespresso pods are so cheap.

mumpoints · 17/01/2018 21:05

I love all the RoastWorks ones, especially Sumatra. They are pricey unless on offer though. £4.50 for 10 at Waitrose at the moment. It's still cheaper than starbucks though!

piefacedClique · 17/01/2018 21:07

Aldi’s are nice.... you can taste they are. Bit weaker but the cost makes up for it. I love their vanilla ones.... can’t see the diff between these and the nespresso ones

IncyWincyGrownUp · 17/01/2018 21:14

My daughter wants to know if they do a chocolate pod, if anyone has seen them about in the shops?

BonnesVacances · 17/01/2018 21:17

We used to go to France just to stock up on the L'Or ones before they were on sale here. Now we drink the Waitrose ones in a blue box. We tried quite a few Pact ones but I think Waitrose were cheaper and easier to get if you've run out.

hidengosqueak · 17/01/2018 21:25

Avoid the Starbucks ones, they are horrid but the Aldi ones aren't bad

EnglishGirlApproximately · 17/01/2018 21:32

L’or are the ones I got from Poundstretcher, nice strong coffee.

wifeyhun · 17/01/2018 21:32

We got some lovely chocolate pods out of the range but ours never has them in anymore Sad

What is your AIBU ?

PoohBearsHole · 17/01/2018 21:35

If you know where you can get hazelnut ones I'd be really interested Smile

insertimaginativeusername · 17/01/2018 21:36

Incy ALDI do a chocolate-coffee pod

Terpsichore · 17/01/2018 21:38

The delicious French L'Or ones were what prodded me into buying a Nespresso machine in the first place - we bought some to use at our Airbnb place in Paris and took several boxes back, as they were so cheap.

Since then I’ve settled on the Waitrose own brand ones in the blue box, and having pounced gleefully on the L'Or ones now that they’re over here....I actually prefer the Waitrose ones.

I don’t like the genuine Nespresso ones either...

Notevilstepmother · 17/01/2018 21:41

Is it unreasonable to support nestle?

Maybe it’s unreasoonable to use single use coffee pods?

Is it unreasonable to post in AIBU when it should be elsewhere?

medisnet · 17/01/2018 21:42

Borbone, from Amazon. It's an Italian brand, proper espresso and cheaper than Nespresso. Someone brought some from Italy then I looked for them online. Not recyclable sadly

BonnesVacances · 17/01/2018 21:57

Terpsichore Snap! We were so excited to see L'Or for sale in the UK, but decided we preferred Waitrose after all.

Though we don't use the Nespresso ones because we boycott Nestle, not because we don't like them.

hopingforhappiness · 17/01/2018 22:00

Fine Coffee Club do hot chocolate Nespresso compatible pods, rather nice, especially if you make it like a cappuccino. Coffee isn't bad either.

NomDePrune · 17/01/2018 22:03

We were given a Lavazza machine for Christmas and it seems they only take lavazza pods - is that right? If so it's not going to get a lot of use.
