To ask what your favourite nespresso* pods are & why?

Compatible pods* for clarity (& jumping on the back of the Tassimo thread)

I used to love the ones we got in Home & Bargain but they don't seem to have them anymore in my local ones. Apparently Lidl or Aldi do some but I can never find them.

Weirdly I'm not a fan of any of the actual nespresso pods :( help!

We have the reuseable and refillable pods for it which are good for loose leaf tea. But does anyone make any other ones we might like like tea or other drinks?

I have the groupon ones too, lasting me for ages.

Cofico because they biodegrade

Twillow · 18/01/2018 00:19

Lidl. And had some refillable coffeeduck pods for a while, ok when you get in the habit but some eegit threw them out in error!

Just tried the L'Or ones and they're very good indeed. They also seem to have a good network for recycling.

I'm excited to hear about the Waitrose pods. I must have missed them. Can they be recycled?

CommanderDaisy · 18/01/2018 01:09

None. Pods are a landfill horror show.

Seriously use cofico. Designed by the man who invented nespresso horrified at the environmental havoc he unleashed. They taste the same cost abit less but pods biodegrade. Recycling pods is a con they take more energy to recycle than you recover.

Seriously if you use pods make the switch. My family and friends have after my nagging Grin

I hate disposable coffee pods. Terrible thing to do to the environment

I got chocolate pods in TKMaxx, they always have a weird selection of Italian made compatible pods, they're usually nice and quite good value.

I really rate Aldi's pods, and the Cardamom ones they did for xmas are lovely! Wish they had them as a permanent addition, and wish I'd tried the Gingerbread ones as well.

The L'or aluminium ones are nice, and also if you have a Hema near you (Dutch home store, they have them in London and might be online), their own brand pods are great, plus they sell the kits for making your own pods so you don't need to feel so wasteful.

None, and we drink a lot of coffee.

We buy loose, ground coffee and use a Gaggia coffee machine (10 years old) to make espresso. We also have a 35 year old Italia stove top coffee pot for making espresso when camping and a traditional coffee machine (37 years old), plus a cafetiere for when we can't wait that long for the coffee machine.

I really don't get the whole coffee pod thing. We can get by without them and it's better on the world's resources and the environment if we do.
