To think my sons should be able to flush a toilet?

MrsMuddlePluck · 15/01/2018 22:58

Just gone up to bed. Went to turn light off in family bathroom (again).

The mess in there is yet again disgusting. Piss on the seat & down the sides. Unflushed crap in the bowl.

Empty toilet rolls next to the bin. Stinking wet towels & dirty boxers on the floor.

Last week DSs GF asked to use my ensuite loo as someone had peed all over the seat. Yet again I was on my hands & knees mopping up pee.

I cant believe I'm still having to clear up such a shithole. My DSs are 15, 18 & 20, so I am so completely fed up & disgusted with this.

You (and the wifi) are on strike until they can keep it clean!
Put your feet up, any requests are met with 'is the bathroom clean?' If not, no!

paxillin · 15/01/2018 23:04

Yet again I was on my hands & knees mopping up pee.

That's why they are doing it. I would go apeshit if a 10 year old did this, let alone a grown up.

Potty training begins with an interest in the potty, goes via losing the nappies and ends with wiping, washing, flushing, mess removal. I suppose they aren't quite there yet.

grumpy4squash · 15/01/2018 23:06

Gosh, I thought you were about to say they were 5, 8 and 10.
Yes, they are disgusting. They really should sort it out. How about a rota?

mrsharrison · 15/01/2018 23:07

My friend has 3 mucky sons. I don't go round there because of the loo filth.
Please take a stand on this.

LovingLola · 15/01/2018 23:08

Take a picture.
Post it on any social media sites that they use. Tell the world that they are filthy, with no respect for anyone else who has to use a bathroom after them.

BuzzKillington · 15/01/2018 23:09

That's just disgusting. What is the matter with them?

I have 3 men in this house, from 15 upwards.

I can't imagine any of them leaving the loos anyway other than as they find them. Piss on the seat? Not flushing? FGS.

No excuse whatsoever.

cherryontopp · 15/01/2018 23:10

I'd go mental. Put a lock on the door! Or as other poster said take pictures of it and threaten to put it on social media.

WeAllHaveWings · 15/01/2018 23:11

I blame the parents, honestly seriously I do. Why have you allowed them to get to this age and still do this.

I have one of ds(13)s friends who do this and everytime he does it i march him to the bathroom in front of his friends to tidy up his mess and tell his dm when I see her (she seems to do nothing about it other than complaining he does it at home too).

Flowers456 · 15/01/2018 23:13

Wow my toddler doesnt even pee on the seat, You definately need to put your foot down here.

yorkshireyummymummy · 15/01/2018 23:16

I would go mental too cherryontop. Utterly.
MrsMuddle. I like the advice you have been given especially exposing them on social media and especially cutting off the WiFi.
I thought you were going to say your kids were 8 or so.
They are in need of a swift kick up the arse and as their mum you need to do it.
Be tough! Don’t clean the loo anymore!

Mxyzptlk · 15/01/2018 23:16

Well done, Wings!

Yet again I was on my hands & knees mopping up pee.

Don't do that. Assign the boys one week each when it's their duty to clean the toilet every time it's messy. That should avoid squabbles about 'It wasn't me'. It just is their job. End of.

csigeek · 15/01/2018 23:16

Definitely because you clean up for them. They'll never learn! Change the WiFi password every day, they earn it back for cleaning up

mrsharrison · 15/01/2018 23:18

Keep anti bac wipes next to loo so theres no excuse. I like the shaming idea.

Huntinginthedark · 15/01/2018 23:21

Just wow.
babies and very old people are the only ones I would let this go with.
Agree about taking photos and shaming them
Locking the door and them having to ask for a key
Locking down wifi
Wtf else do you end up doing for them? Think of the poor women they'll end up with, that'll have to clean up their piss and shit because they don't know how to.

Mxyzptlk · 15/01/2018 23:21

Have you tried dragging any one of them to the toilet and asking them to clean it up?
Then when they say "Yuck, that's gross. I don't want to." you ask why they think it's okay for their mother to have to do it every day.

Then do the WiFi on strike, followed up by shaming on social media.

(I'm another who expected you to say they were under 10, btw)

paxillin · 15/01/2018 23:23

Dip their noses in it.

KiaOraAura · 15/01/2018 23:23

Why would you ever clear up after them? Dont do it, it's demeaning and enables their frankly disgusting behaviour.

I've got a DD and 2 DSSs and haven't cleaned a toilet after them since the day they were old enough to do it for themselves. Oh and please dont waste a second of your time coming up with a rota, it's their mess, it's their responsibility.

MrsMuddlePluck · 16/01/2018 23:13

Just wanted reassurance that I'm not daft for thinking this is wrong! Action plan is now in place. Fines work best with my lot. £5 each if the loo is a mess, so they all have to pay if one makes a mess.

Like the idea of a rota, so they all have to do it, but will have to be coupled with fines as they will even argue over whose turn it is and why they 'can't do it tonight'.

Wow was just coming on to say I have the same problem with my 3 and 5 year old... Then I saw their ages Confused

Whatshallidonowpeople · 16/01/2018 23:18

Teach them to do it properly. Whose fault is it thst they don't know How to?

FluffyWuffy100 · 16/01/2018 23:23

I quite literally blame the parents of anyone over the age of 4 who leaves a mess on/in/around the toilet.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 16/01/2018 23:27

I was just about to say that my ds is just learning to flush at last so not to worry - it will happen.

Then I saw your kids ages.

Ds is 4!

MollyHuaCha · 17/01/2018 00:03

Best idea on here is for you to lock the door and keep the key! They ask you for the key and you check the state of the loo afterwards. Cleaning materials need to be very handy for those who cannot aim straight.

Obvs this is a temporary measure will they get better habits.

Good luck! Smile

toomuchtimereadingthreads2016 · 17/01/2018 05:39

That is disgusting and they are completely disrespecting you! Do you think they can't see the mess?! They just walk away cos they know you'll clean it. My 3 year old can flush and at least tell me.if a bit has got on the rim!

HuskyMcClusky · 17/01/2018 05:43

Wtf?!?

You (and your partner, presumably) brought them up. Why on earth haven’t you stopped them behaving like animals before now?? Confused
