When was the last time you were genuinely excited?

I was watching the recent Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon surprises Amy on her birthday and she is so delighted and excited.

I think the last time I felt that level of excitement was as a student, late last century, about to go on a trip to Dublin. I was jumping up and down with glee. Maybe it was just youthful exuberance but I would love to feel that way again.

When was the last time you felt like that? And how can I rekindle that?

At the moment because we’re going to India next week and it’s beyond exciting. Squealing with tingliness.

Steeley113 · 15/01/2018 19:12

I’m quite easily excited. Christmas Eve I was absolutely buzzing with excitement. I get ‘low level’ excitement most days though, like the kids going to bed or a parcel being delivered 😂

Last October; I was on holiday in Hawaii and went snorkelling about half an hour from Honolulu.

Lots of beautiful tropical fish.....but then suddenly I spotted a Green Hawaiian sea turtle.....it was enchanting and so exciting. I swam (alone) with the turtle for 25 minutes in the bay, we watched each other whilst it was diving down to eat and then come up again for air. It was a wonderful experience and one I will probably never ever repeat.

Right now - I've just received a booking for May from a client for one of my favourite dogs. I'm so excited, my heart is pounding Grin

Tinkofhousepan · 15/01/2018 19:45

Right now!! It's my boyfriend's 30th next week and I've booked the day off and activities for us to do to surprise him! And we are going to Venice for carnival! Literally can't wait!

SinceWhenDid · 15/01/2018 19:46

Sometimes I'm so excited when I go to bed with a hot water bottle and a good book that I do an excited little wriggle...

Tipsntoes · 15/01/2018 19:47

When my team scores. This is what people don't get when they say it's "just" a game.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 15/01/2018 19:48

Now. I'm going to New York soon and I can't wait.

Notreallyarsed · 15/01/2018 19:48

@Tipsntoes I get it Grin

undertheradarplease · 15/01/2018 20:07

My favourite band are doing an anniversary show, the tickets went on sale and sold out in ten minutes flat, we got good ones 😁 I've got a new diary to write a countdown that lasts months.

Mistoffelees · 15/01/2018 20:36

'Proper' excitement probably in December when I went to see Steps. More moderate excitement, at least once or twice a week, just this weekend I was excited because I'd bought myself a new colouring book then I got to use the power tool I bought ages ago for the first time. I'm easily pleased!

AskingForAnEnemy · 15/01/2018 20:41

About 3 months ago when I went to Walt Disney World. I've been 5 times but getting on that ferry and seeing the castle come into view gets me every time, I just want to squeal, the excitement is unreal, I get more excited than my kids Grin

JayoftheRed · 15/01/2018 21:56

I hear you Tipsntoes. There is nothing like it.

Especially in the last minute against Premiership opposition!

JaceLancs · 15/01/2018 22:16

Arealhumanbeing · 15/01/2018 22:29

Last week when I got word that I’d got the job I really wanted. Lots of competition and a tough recruitment process. I won! 😊

What I really miss is laughing until my stomach muscles hurt. Like at school when you just can’t stop and the teacher shouts and sends you outside. I wish something could be that funny again.

Crunchymum · 15/01/2018 22:45

Feeling pretty excited right now, being induced tomorrow!!!

It's DC3 so hopefully won't be too epic. Can't wait to meet her (but it's an induction for medical reasons so I'm also shitting myself!!)

MalcolmsBrokenWalrusMoneybox · 15/01/2018 22:57

Congratulations and all the best, crunchymum!!!

Gosh so many replies! Thank you all. It seems that holidays feature highly. I do have one booked, but so often it seems to be a case of enjoying things in retrospect.

I miss that level of hilarity too, arealhumanbeing, everything is just "more" when we're younger. I don't miss the terror of thinking that vampires might come through the window though, so it's not all bad!
