When was the last time you were genuinely excited?

I was watching the recent Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon surprises Amy on her birthday and she is so delighted and excited.

I think the last time I felt that level of excitement was as a student, late last century, about to go on a trip to Dublin. I was jumping up and down with glee. Maybe it was just youthful exuberance but I would love to feel that way again.

When was the last time you felt like that? And how can I rekindle that?

All the bloody time Grin

Today I'm excited because I'm booked for a tattoo tomorrow afternoon.

Just before Christmas I was ludicrously excited to be on a boat in the Venetian lagoon at sunset with cocktails.

In February DP and I are going for a weekend away in London and I'm very excited about that.

In September DP and I are getting married! And my gorgeous dress is in a box under my bed as I speak. We're going on honeymoon to Iceland. Every time I think about that I get giddy.

Life seems very exciting at the moment. Maybe it's because we don't have children yet

Sorry for showing off Blush Grin

Wednesday. It was my first day back at work after mat leave and I was desperately excited to see the DC. DD squealed with joy to see me and threw herself into my arms Smile

ShatnersWig · 15/01/2018 15:27

bfg Very enthusiastic and eager.

I'm going to the theatre in two weeks' time. I'll enjoy it (if it's good). I'm looking forward to it. But I'm not "I can't wait!" or regularly thinking about it.

crunched · 15/01/2018 15:32

I think excited means not being able to hold in good emotions, so squealing and jumping? This happens to me every six weeks or so.

Don't remember ever feeling it, nor anger.

I am a very emotional person - up, down, tearful, shouty etc. Do you think you have to experience the lows to feel the highs.

bfgdreamtree · 15/01/2018 15:33

No, it doesn't involve squealing and jumping, in general. I'm not two!

ShatnersWig · 15/01/2018 15:34

bfg So what do YOU think excitement is and how should it manifest/show itself?

UrsulaPandress · 15/01/2018 15:36

On a night drive in the Kruger Park. Among the highlights were a male lion lying at the side of the road who gave us his full roaring rumble for a good 10 minutes.

AND PORCUPINES!!!!!!

Going to see Hamilton at the theatre a few weeks ago. I was so excited I barely slept the night before and went through phases from giddiness to feeling sick with excitement all day!

SandAndSea · 15/01/2018 15:58

That's the second time today I've seen Hamilton mentioned on here. Is it wrong that I don't know what/who that is?

CheeseAndBeans · 15/01/2018 16:05

Yesterday, when MIL offered to have the kids this weekend. Friday AND Saturday night. I almost bit her hand off!! I am so excited about a night in with just me and OH and then a very rare night out!

TheFlis12345 · 15/01/2018 16:10

@SandAndSea Hamilton is a show that has been absolutely huge in the US (tickets on Broadway changing hands for thousands of dollars) and opened in London in December. Google Hamilton Musical to see what all the fuss is about. It really does live up to the hype as well!

SandAndSea · 15/01/2018 16:45

Thanks, Flis - good to know.

On the aeroplane going to New York in October. I'm not prone to excitement. My life is mainly drudge.

WyrdSisterWeatherwax · 15/01/2018 17:05

Last summer when my sister visited from overseas with my niece for first time. I actually got so excited waiting at airport arrivals I felt ill lol.

whiskyowl · 15/01/2018 17:09

I get the New York thing. First time I went, I arrived at about midnight and was SO excited driving from the airport to the centre, just watching this legendary city that I'd only seen in movies unfold before me.

phoenix1973 · 15/01/2018 17:15

I can't remember. Probably in my teens.
Excitement is alien to me.

crunched · 15/01/2018 17:17

Do you know bfg, I think that may define it in my case.
Feeling so completely overwhelmed, in a happy way, I'm acting like a two year old. The 'thing' pushes all the badness out of the way even if it is only momentarily.
But then I'm a bit immature and at least I hold the wee in

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 15/01/2018 17:31

Yesterday, Watching the bids go up on a pair of shoes I had for sale on eBay. They eventually sold for £160.

HazelBite · 15/01/2018 17:38

When Dh presented me with a trip to New York as a ruby anniversary present, mind you that was nothing to the excitement when I arrived there on December 1st, and every day whilst I was there.

jamaisjedors · 15/01/2018 17:39

Today, just aced (if I do say so myself!) a super important presentation for work.

A
Was excited and nervous about it beforehand and now just excited and on a real high. Am in a train so not jumping up and down but I'm grinning and can't settle in my seat!

KC225 · 15/01/2018 17:42

Last summer we promised the kids 'small pets' when returned from holiday. We were hoping they would forget. 4 days after our return, a Facebook ad appeared with two Guinea Pig brothers 8 months (teenage owner had lost interest) needing to be rehomed. DH rang and was told he could collect when the Mother returned from work.

The kids and I were so excited. Really excited. The new boys have not disappointed, they are the most wonderful creatures and we are delighted with them.

LegallyBrunet · 15/01/2018 18:53

September last year when I found out that Student Finance England had awarded me an extra year of tuition fee to allow me to go back to university and study law. I screamed down the phone. I started my course two days later.
Before that it was December 2015 when I went to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios for my 21st birthday

JayoftheRed · 15/01/2018 18:59

The Wednesday before Christmas. Bristol City v Man Utd. Absolutely fucking epic, out of this world.

Landed · 15/01/2018 19:06

Years and years and years ago. Sadly i'm like pheonix1973
