For being bloody annoyed with OH for falling asleep while looking after 8 year old DD

So I took our 5 year old to a birthday party this afternoon. OH said he would get tea ready for 5pm. I get home at 5 to find him asleep on the sofa with tea not prepared and DD saying she’s hungry. I exploded, calling him an irresponsible parent. Am I overreacting? I realise DD is old enough to fetch herself a snack if she was starving but even so? Just wondering what you all think, thanks x

Mine will often get hungry but not realise they are hungry. I'm always having to remind them to have a snack if they are getting hangry

I’m sure the DD ate lunch. It’s very unlikely she was starving by 5pm.

The 8 year olds I know would be horrified by dinner at 5.

This.

An acquaintance of mine has one child who is always pandered to , we once went out on a picnic with them, where said child ate more than sufficient and yet was still hungry 30minutes later. Child is not hungry, they just know Mum wont say no. Both her children are the type who are never told "no" to and it is glaringly obvious in their behaviours.

There is nothing wrong, IMO in letting a child wait occasionally, they're being made to wait a extra little time for dinner than normal not a week before their next meal.
