... to feel disgusted at fox-chasing toff-twits!

On my way to a local town for lunch today, we had to slow down and stop as a horse came galloping up towards us in the middle of the road. On his back sat a dandified twit who was looking for his hounds. In the nearby field some 100 (I kid you not) other starched twits sat on brainwashed horses with hungry hounds running amok. Traffic swayed and stopped as these twits had clearly lost the little sense they had and were dispersing all over the highway, horses looking dazed at being led among cars at great speed on slippery tarmac. Hounds confusedly sniffing all over the road and verges. How much had these twit-toffs drunk? It was not yet noon!

My friends in our car tried to calm me down saying it must be a drag when all of a sudden a poor defenseless fox jumped on the dry-stone wall looking wild-eyed as it tried to determine whether he was safer making a run for it across a busy road or turn back into a field of crazed, uncontrolled hounds and drunken (British?) twits. The fox froze and the driver of my car sped on as I screamed with panic for the predictable fate of the fox.

Why the f*ck is a supposedly civilized country allowing this kind of savagery to continue?

This sort of thing is absolutely typical of the idiots. Don’t ever believe that hounds tearing foxes limb from limb has stopped. It has not.

TossDaily · 14/01/2018 18:59

I fancy 'the predictable fate of the fox' as a user name.

YANBU though OP. On the last day of my beloved dog's life, a pack of slavering hounds swarmed into my garden and terrified her. The hunter who came to retrieve them was a mouthy little shit, too.

DP dealt with him appropriately, and two hours later the leader of the hunt was at our door with a bottle of port.

Wankers.

TossDaily · 14/01/2018 19:01

You don't have a penchant for grammar, do you, Bernard?

Whizbang · 14/01/2018 19:11

LOL at Bernard trying to be witty and brush off criticisms. It doesn't work dearie....yes, you are a cruel twat and yes, the vast majority of the country hates you and your micro brained fellow blood sports enthusiasts. You can rail and stamp your tiny feet all you like, but that's the truth and you know it. That's all.

HappyLabrador · 14/01/2018 19:12

I can’t be bothered to read the whole thread or even all of your posts; your writing is awful and your overuse of the word ‘twit’ is extremely annoying.

Your ignorance regarding hunting is astounding. You sound like a typical uneducated anti and your posts only add proof to the theory that the hate for hunters from most people is all about class and nothing about animal welfare.

TossDaily · 14/01/2018 19:15

I didn't realise you had to be a talented writer to post on Mumsnet.

Or is that a 'class thing' too?

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 19:19

Ah shit, knew i should have stuck with the creative writing classes.

Rebeccaslicker · 14/01/2018 20:21

The arrogance and sheer inability of the (fortunately few) pro hunting posters to read what people are saying is mind boggling.

Poster after poster - its cruel and disgusting and we think you're sick to put an animal through that

Pro hunters - ah you don't understand the country and you don't like posh people

Read the simple words: it is neither of those things. It is because you enjoy chasing an animal to a violent death. That is all.

TheWitchAndTrevor · 14/01/2018 20:31

I don't agree with hunting.

But, by god the opening OP is a load a wank.

HappyLabrador · 14/01/2018 20:37

Read the simple words: it is neither of those things. It is because you enjoy chasing an animal to a violent death. That is all.

Yes, of course it is. All hunters are evil, psychopathic, cruel, heartless bastards who enjoy watching animals being torn to pieces.

Again, another anti demonstrating their utterly astounding and wilful ignorance on the subject of hunting.

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 20:39

Given that there have been no genuine reasons given by those in support of hunts, it's easy to draw our own conclusions...

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 14/01/2018 20:41

This is why I'm so frustrated with people that hunt. They cannot have a sensible debate. They will always avoid the opportunity for a sensible debate and rehash the same all crap. They always bring class into it (I have a farm and horses and tbh nearly everyone I know that hunts isn't a toff they are desperate social climbers. That is not a put down but genuinely is my experience). They accuse everyone of not understanding the country because they're all townies even when that is clearly not true. They say foxes kill other animals (so do plenty of other animals but they aren't chased to the point of exhaustion then ripped to pieces or surrounded as babies and mauled for entertainment). The most ridiculous is they say it's the most humane way to control population (bull) but then the other half of them say they never catch anything Confused. Finally you can't comment if you have cats, aren't vegan, god knows what else?? Where would this leave us as a society? You have to make slow progress and always strive to improve welfare otherwise we'd still be allowing dog fighting, badger baiting. Yes we aren't there yet but we are making steps in the right direction and we shouldn't regress. Like it or not it is now illegal and you should abide by the laws of the country you live in

GreyMorning · 14/01/2018 20:43

I go hunting, it's a thrilling days riding but I think fox hunting should be made totally illegal to stop the sab vs hunt fighting. You can't justify killing foxes with a pack of hounds in this day and age but bloody hell is galloping across a field with dozens of horses following a pack of hounds fun.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 14/01/2018 20:43

If you all believe in it so much try and educate rather than just telling everyone they know nothing. Otherwise it makes you seem like you can't justify what you do and you are just heartless people that don't give a shit

Rebeccaslicker · 14/01/2018 20:48

Suck it up, Labrador. That's what the huge majority of the county thinks of you and your utterly revolting kind, chasing an animal to death for kicks. You can make excuses (and it's clear that you can't even manage that!) and chuck out your pathetic little yawns, but most people still despise you for it.

Takes a certain kind of person to think that it must be everyone else who's wrong 🙈

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 20:53

I can guarantee that if i strolled through the countryside with a pack of offlead dogs - my breed of choice already has a rep - terrorising the wildlife and destroying private gardens/hunting down rescue cats there would be absolutely nobody here defending my actions

HappyLabrador · 14/01/2018 20:56

Ah, Rebecca, bless you. Your ranty posts are entertaining if nothing else.

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 20:58

No positive argument for hunting then? Just snidey comments?

HappyLabrador · 14/01/2018 21:01

It would be an exercise in futility must.

It always descends into sentimental bullshit and verbal abuse from the cute fluffy fox brigade.

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 21:04

As opposed to the verbal abuse spouted by the hunt brigade? Plenty of evidence on this thread. What i haven't seen is any genuine attempt to argue why we shouldn't be so against hunting. Which suggests to me that there isn't an argument to be had aside from 'it's fun'

Middleoftheroad · 14/01/2018 21:06

Rebecca, supporters have no defence still yet remain amused by fox hunting. Tells us everything we already know, sadly.

Middleoftheroad · 14/01/2018 21:10

mustbemad - agreed that an argument cannot be formed as to why it is acceptable.

Tofftwitty · 14/01/2018 21:10

Fact is - at the present time the letter of the law allows drag hunting, trail hunting and hunting with hounds PROVIDING those hounds are not responsible for the kill.

Now we can all argue back and forth, ad infinitum on the rights and the wrongs but this is the legal position.
You don't like it? Fine. Then campaign to tighten the law rather than abuse and insult those going about their lawful business.

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 21:14

And yet many hunts DO kill foxes with hounds and get away with it. So yeah it goes a bit further than 'not liking it' - i can actually understand why people see it as a class divide sometimes tbh

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 21:15

And again, it's okay for pro hunt folk to abuse & insult us 'townies' who disagree with hunting?

Wow
