Although you had a major issue with the way accounts were conducted, being discussed @cadyheron those threads were not pulled. Or deleted.
The thread that was had none of that. But it did have 2 posters just postinb the same stuff on repeat and picking apart comments. So it's more likely been pulled due to the stalling and boredom created by not allowing free discussion.

MadameGrizzly · 07/04/2018 23:53

I wonder if the ASA has a Twitter address? It would be highly unethical for an Instagram account or cohort of accounts to pressure MN to shut down this discussion when it is so relevant to MN's audience, and in light of the ASA seeking consumer feedback to improve its influencer guidelines.

CadyHeron · 07/04/2018 23:54

How is it censorship?! Gawd's sake. If people had have managed to lay off the personal attacks,it would have probably been left to stand.
Some just really weren't interested in actual discussion when it boiled down to it.
There's only so much you can say on one subject before it starts to go round in circles.

chicken2015 · 07/04/2018 23:58

It wasnt pulled for personal attacks, also what is wrong with going round in circles and didnt you help that cady?

Mumofkids · 07/04/2018 23:58

Due to evolving discussion there were no personal digs or inappropriate comments they stopped quite a long time back, some accounts were named in discussion but not with personal digs as described, at all. The only people who kept bringing back up those points from earlier were the 2 posters who would simply not let things lie, even if that meant harking back and twisting comments made pages and pages before on previous threads.

No, see no one was "picking apart" comments. Just replying to questions raised. If it's an answer you don't like, it doesn't automatically mean it was non valid.
People profess to it being about the ad transparency, the treatment of children being in the public eye and privacy (both important points) but when it comes down to it when it's discussed nobody wants to know. Seems to be all a surface concern.

@cadyheton you are just at it again. Inventing your own version of threads. Part way through thread 4 there was a huge shift in the use of #ad on accounts after a quiet period. Consequently there was a huge shift in tone and discussion on the thread. All you can do is keep on that the discussion is fake yet there's been none of your 'perceived' bitching for a huge period of time. You constantly say people confess to this, of profess to that or hate instagrammers, but it's jnckwar where you are getting this from. It's just waffle to throw the threads. No one has put down an account personally in a very long time.

Mumofkids · 08/04/2018 00:05

Jnckwar?! Unclear...

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 08/04/2018 00:05

You were pulling apart comments, and it was a shame as you had some valid points at times. But I think you both had an agenda, you were constantly backing each other up, I think you know each other and did it to derail any decent discussion.

there's not much on this topic that hasn't been said , many, many times - Mumsnet

Does that mean you will be pulling/deleting all your MIL threads?

chicken2015 · 08/04/2018 00:07

I prefer great minds.... lol

FuckItPassMeTheWine · 08/04/2018 00:09

Surely if people are posting on the thread then the topic hast been exhausted , that's taking away your freedom of speech , where the fuck are we living ? China ? Sort it out mumsnet

MadameGrizzly · 08/04/2018 00:09

If boredom or going around in circles were a problem most of the subforums on MN would need to be deleted!

MN doesn't create content - it depends on its users to do so. Fast moving, high interest threads, like the instamum threads, keep MN in business!

CadyHeron · 08/04/2018 00:09

I really, really, don't know sofia (I'm assuming that's who you mean seeing we're the two everyone seemed to have a problem with.)

Mumofkids · 08/04/2018 00:11

@flyingbird my phone amazes me! Grin

chicken2015 · 08/04/2018 00:11

I agree the contantly aluding to the fact this discussion was somehow just nasty and unnessassery and not about your perceived imporant points is very tiresome.

FuckItPassMeTheWine · 08/04/2018 00:15

And really so what if it was a bit nasty, people put themselves in the public eye and that's the price , don't like it then delete your Instagram, forever living and all sorts of companies / celebs get a bashing on here , why is the one different then any other?? Get over yourselves instamums

chicken2015 · 08/04/2018 00:16

Im not saying that in a rude way just observing how i perceive some comments but i feel it is important as i feel it is a way for Instagrammers to hide under the hidden advertising and keep followers quiet. I guess there is a lot of money being made and that doesnt want to stop and if we are aware then it might come to end quicker.

Mumofkids · 08/04/2018 00:19

@fuckitandpassthewine I don't think it was 'nasty' but there was a bit 'did you see that? Omg' or 'wtf is that person doing' or 'is that an ad wtf is going on' or 'omg did they just do an ad for ' so it was all related to content put out there by business accounts. And a few people saying oh my god, he's a dick. I didn't say it, I did say he at times came across as a bit of a dick but we all run that risk it's not particular offensive.

FuckItPassMeTheWine · 08/04/2018 00:20

No i totally agree with you @chicken2015, its censorship and regardless if I find the subject tiresome or not , deleting the thread is removing your freedom of speech . Shame on you mumsnet . Write about this Daily Mail!!

MadameGrizzly · 08/04/2018 00:23

I thought the first few threads were posters going OMG SOMEWHERE I CAN DEBRIEF ABOUT INSTAGRAM!!! And yes, there were not so nice comments made about instamums and their children.

What was most noticeable to me was that the instamums were genuinely horrified by the criticism - both warranted and unkind. They truly didn't (and some still don't) believe the ASA guidelines apply to them. Suggesting they were actually breaking the law was just MEAN TALK.

The later threads were far more measured once posters had got some stuff off their chests, so to speak.

If Instagram accounts are discussed in terms of them being a consumer driven, income generating business I honestly don't see the issue. Accounts will naturally come to the end of their life cycle and new ones will replace them, there will always be new things to discuss.

FuckItPassMeTheWine · 08/04/2018 00:24

@mumofkids yes I see what you mean. It's trifles then really and I don't think the thread should have been taken down for that reason . My goodness , this forum is full of lots of things that are repeated , celebs are slated , companies are too. Really shocked that the thread was removed .
