AIBU to think Blue Peter is NOT the best kids tv programme of all time?

I always thought it was gentle, sentimental clap trap that your parents wanted you to watch to keep you a child forever.

Personally I think the top title should have gone to Maid Marian and her Merry Men or Thunderbirds.

I always wanted to stab myself in my eye when Blue Peter came on. I’d get excited for Byker Grove or Grange Hill after Newsround and when it was a Blue Peter day I’d just go and sit in the garden and read Sugar magazine.

Live and Kicking, Fun House, Finders Keepers, Captain Planet, Sharky and George were all great.

Blue Peter was for children who liked vegetables, asked for chores and enjoyed holidays in the Peak District.

But yes, another big fan of Maid Marian here. Even though I'd forgotten all about it! I have a 10yr old DD who I think would also enjoy it. Fingers crossed YouTube can come up with the goods

It was the best programme when Peter Purvis, John Noakes, Lesley Judd and Valerie Singleton were the presenters. (I'm showing my age )

Blue Peter was part of everyone's childhood (well most) so perhaps that is why it is fondly remembered.
