Some men don’t want to date women who are unable to write grammatically, amongst other things. Are they being unreasonable?

TINDER TURN-OFFS ACCORDING TO MEN

  1. 'Duck faces' and Snapchat filters
  1. Posing with exotic animals in holiday pictures to appear well travelled
  1. Using 'pretentious' music lyrics in place of a bio
  1. Meaningless bios such as: 'I like going out... but also staying in'
  1. Poor spelling and grammar
  1. Saying they attended the 'University of Life'
  1. Using the phrase 'I love life'
  1. Having voted Leave
  1. Being a vegan
  1. Women who describe themselves as 'fun-loving'

  2. Photos that include her children, her mother, Jesus, or her in a wedding gown

  3. Not including any photos at all

  4. Any mention of religion

no

up to them

stitchglitched · 09/01/2018 10:38

I'm a woman and would turn down a man for a lot of those reasons too.

araiwa · 09/01/2018 10:38

to be clear- they are not being unreasonable

AlwaysYes · 09/01/2018 10:38

Not sure, but if I was single I would not want to date guys who did any of those things either!

Arkangel · 09/01/2018 10:40

I was messing about with my male friends Tinder and boy, there are some really REALLY vacuous women out there. And such obvious gold diggers.

Anyway, Tinder is for sex.

Consideringbeingamom · 09/01/2018 10:41

No, it actually means a lot of men want grown up women. Apart from the vegan thing. It's a shame that men dislike vegan women. I have a lot of respect for people who are that conscientious. Snapchat filters, university of life, bad spelling and grammar, etc seem to be rife everywhere and I can't help judging others a little bit too for it......sorry!

Ellendegeneres · 09/01/2018 10:41

When I did old I would have been put off by most/all of those things too.

CrackersForlt · 09/01/2018 10:41

Not unreasonable imo. I've said no to dates for less!

Hygge · 09/01/2018 10:41

I completely agree with them about people who says they've been to the 'university of life'.

LyraPotter · 09/01/2018 10:42

I don't think it's at all unreasonable for any person to refuse to date someone for doing things they find annoying.

It would be unreasonable to start suggesting that women should change their behaviour to be appealing to men, or for men to think that because they don't personally like a habit or trait, nobody will. But just having personal preferences is fine!

Blackteadrinker77 · 09/01/2018 10:42

Who cares, it's Tinder

gunsandbanjos · 09/01/2018 10:42

Seems quite fair with a couple of exceptions, vegan and religion not a big deal but I’d exclude men too for most of that list.
Fair is subjective, they can date whoever they like.

PennyBBT · 09/01/2018 10:43

Each to their own ay?? I hate it when people use university of life x

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 09/01/2018 10:43

Personal taste etc. They are, on the face of it, pretty superficial reasons not to want to be in a relationship with someone, but that’s what Tinder is all about, isn’t it?

motherfiver · 09/01/2018 10:43

Why would it be unreasonable?
They can date whoever they want, it is unreasonable to think men can't have preferences and should just want every woman

TractorTedTed · 09/01/2018 10:45

I would turn a man down for most of those reasons too. Being vegan I'd consider a good thing and I wouldn't care about the photos, but everything else would be a big turn off. Voting leave and poor spag would be my biggest hates.

Arkangel · 09/01/2018 10:45

And also my Tinder rules were:

No pics with obvious exes (wtf)
No tiger pics
No bad spelling
No to messages that are just "hey".
No topless pics
No "hey add me on snapchat" (because dick pics are soooooo not cool)

I think anyone who uses Tinder to find a serious date is crazy.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 09/01/2018 10:48

No not really. Most of those are pretty fair. Potentially a bit classist though? Did they only survey middle class men?

Birdsgottafly · 09/01/2018 10:48

I would discount that list except for being Vegan and poor spelling and grammar.

Dating and your sex life isn't a equal opportunities exercise.

tabbywabby · 09/01/2018 10:48

I would find most of those a turn-off. I don't think it's a matter of 'fairness' though.

What do you think, OP?

JacquesHammer · 09/01/2018 10:49

Why would they be being unreasonable?!

SleepingStandingUp · 09/01/2018 10:49
  1. 'Duck faces' and Snapchat filters - yup, really annoying. Just have your normal face displayed please
  2. Posing with exotic animals in holiday pictures to appear well travelled - hmm depends on the situation I guess but if its to make you look like something you aren't then yes its a turn off
  3. Using 'pretentious' music lyrics in place of a bio - yeah, I want your bio not Taylor Swifts
  4. Meaningless bios such as: 'I like going out... but also staying in' - hardly insightful is it?
  5. Poor spelling and grammar - agree
  6. Saying they attended the 'University of Life' - makes them sound up themselves
  7. Using the phrase 'I love life' - most people who aren't suicidal do...
  8. Having voted Leave - major politic differences are likely to be problematic
  1. Being a vegan - I do think this one is unfair unless they are judgy over your rare steak
  1. Women who describe themselves as 'fun-loving' - as opposed to fun hating? Up there with loving life
  2. Photos that include her children, her mother, Jesus, or her in a wedding gown - kids, personally I would never post then bit it wouldn't put me off unless I didn't want to date someone with kids. Which is an acceptable personal choice. Mom - unnecessary. Jesus - well wanting to date someone with similar religious beliefs is fine. Wedding dress photo is odd.
  3. Not including any photos at all - yup i. wanna see you
  4. Any mention of religion - see above.

That's my straight woman opinion. My list for men would be similar . Would include using the word babe or mentioning sex

Birdsgottafly · 09/01/2018 10:50

Potentially a bit classist though? Did they only survey middle class men?

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 09/01/2018 10:50

They would probably be my list of turn-offs too to be honest, so no they ANBU.

SleepingStandingUp · 09/01/2018 10:51

Voting leave and poor spag would be my biggest hates
