My DM got me a waving Chinese cat, but it's solar panelled so when enough light hits it (either electric light or natural sunlight) the arm waves itself. I love it. I love cats anyway, but this is just sweet - so much thought went into it from my DM which makes a change as she usually just buys me any crap she can find it's got pride of place on my mantel piece next to my desk so I can see it all the time.

What about you? Did you get an odd present you love?

DH gave me a small lego tiger minifigure. I love it 😍 We play Pathfinder (D&D) and my character has a pet tiger. DS made us all lego minifigures when we started but we couldn’t find a tiger to go with my Druid anywhere. I looked and looked ... and DH looked harder and found one.

He also gave me my own zazen stool for meditation, but that’s not such an odd gift.

An RYA sailing course! My mum even asked my husband if it was a joke - I've always loved boats and the sea. DH thought I should get my big girl pants on and learn to do it! Was mega surprised!

Not this year but I was once given the guinea pig nativity.

We've just moved house to a totally new area, and I've just gone off on mat leave so have been worried about feeling isolated and lonely. DH bought me a family planner calendar and went through and populated it with all the mum and baby groups in the area so I always have something to go to if I need to get out. It was so incredibly thoughtful, I cried like a baby!

I got a plastic dinosaur. It’s awesome!

A rainicorn (adventure time) scarf, from my brother in law. He's only 17 and has aspergers and isn't usually very good at understanding that not everyone likes the same stuff as him, but he got it so right. He went shopping with his EMA and got gifts for everyone (despite being told not to worry about it). DH tells me he never had any help to choose it and I absolutely love it! I didn't even know such a thing existed so I was double happy to receive it. It's one of the best gifts I've ever received.

A primark eye shadow palette from my brother. He has absolutely no money this year since starting an internship in his dream career after getting made redundant twice. I told him not to worry about getting anything but I got Lindt chocs, the palette and the softest pair of bed socks ever.
The make up palette is amazing, I've worn it every day since I got it and the colours are exactly right - I was so touched and he got it spot on.

Whilst telling my DH that I want a ‘Chinese waving cat’ my youngest DD (aged 5) decided she wants one for her birthday, what have you started OP Grin.

My dh usually hates my game that I play and never ever talks to me about it so when I got a calendar and a mug from the game I was so shocked. I always need a calendar and I collect mugs. Also dbil got me a huge Gothic handbag (prefer big ones as I always have stuff to take with me) its not the sort of thing he even thinks about I was impressed x
