My DM got me a waving Chinese cat, but it's solar panelled so when enough light hits it (either electric light or natural sunlight) the arm waves itself. I love it. I love cats anyway, but this is just sweet - so much thought went into it from my DM which makes a change as she usually just buys me any crap she can find it's got pride of place on my mantel piece next to my desk so I can see it all the time.

What about you? Did you get an odd present you love?

A Stressed Eric board game.

I love Stressed Eric and collect board games, but somehow I never knew this game existed. DH did very well.

Also, DH again, got me loads of original Pogs back from the 90s.

I have been really nostalgic recently and he definitely hit the nail on the head.

MumGoneCrazy · 05/01/2018 21:39

A penguin onesie Grin

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 05/01/2018 21:47

I got a Flatout Bear. I LOVE him. He's so smoochie and soft. Perfect size to tuck under my head in bed.

Greensleeves · 05/01/2018 21:54

New framed portrait of Anne Boleyn (one of my Aspie obsessions - the kids "borrowed" my old one for a school project and left it out in the rain)

Set or measuring cups which are really dinky, hand-painted old-fashioned teacups in miniature - they are so lovely, I nearly cried

Kinetic sand tray with castle moulds and little spade/rake (playing with sand is another of my Aspie obsessions Blush )

dh excels at buying me presents

I got a hard back coffee table sized copy of METAMEC The Clock Maker.

It actually brought a tiny tear to my eye as it was totally unexpected. I started collecting their clocks back when I was a student when you could buy them for a couple of quid from car boot fairs. I am now married to an American living in Kentucky and he buys me that for Christmas! He had to smuggle it into the country with my brother in law.

It has all the price lists from 1968 in it and photographs of every single clock movement they ever used. Confused

I am including pics of my prized collection just for shits and giggles.

Another happy recipient of Lego here. Can't put it together yet at it'll ruin my expensive nails. But in a couple of weeks I'll be happily Lego-ing. Xmas Grin

geekone · 05/01/2018 21:56

This will out me too but I got a wonder Woman ball gown (or Wonder Woman formal wear) it's friggin awesome.

pandarific · 05/01/2018 22:02

A popcorn maker. I thought it was a really stupid, unromantic gift, and then I used it. LOVE IT.

peachypips · 05/01/2018 22:02

I got a neon yellow ceramic soap dish with decorative flowers and a mango-shaped soap on a rope to put in it. It’s hideous but I love it. I want to show you but I’m away for the weekend!

PutDownThatLaptop · 05/01/2018 22:06

A tiny lego mini me.

Dogsmom · 05/01/2018 22:06

Easier to show than describe, it's an M&S star light, it looks much nicer in real life, paler and less textured, it's about 10 inches tall and although dh says it's a Christmas decoration I'm keeping it out on the shelf.

It was given to me by a customer who is the last person I'd expect to send a gift.

My friend gave us a laundry egg! It is a revelation 🙂

DeathByMascara · 05/01/2018 22:10

A balaclava.

I look like a terrorist. But I have neuralgia and the cold makes my face hurt like a bitch. It’s lucky I don’t care how stupid I look!

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 05/01/2018 22:10

This is a brilliant thread! Grin

ToadOfSadness · 05/01/2018 22:12

A pencil with the Gruffalo on top, I smile every time I see it.

Ham69 · 05/01/2018 22:12

A life sized cardboard cutout of Ant and Dec, chosen by my DD (8). Scared the crap out of me when I first saw them standing over my bed Christmas morning! They are in the kitchen now and I love them!

tleaf · 05/01/2018 22:12

At a party just before Xmas the grandchildren were trying to remember all the characters from In the Night Garden. They found most of them and then l said my favourite was the funny little train that rattled through the garden, but we couldn't recall it's name.
I was later delighted to open my presents and found a Ninky Nonk, that's since been enjoyed by adults and children alike. What a fab joyful present.

flippychick · 05/01/2018 22:34

A luggage rack from a retired 1960s tube train.

By far my favourite present for years Smile

my daughter gave everyone a red t shirt which she designed and printed the words 'have a canteatcustard christmas'! in block flowing script with gold glitter.
I now have photos of whole family wearing the t shirt on Christmas day.

TheChickenisaDuck · 05/01/2018 23:07

Some of these are hilarious! Laughing at Ant and Dec ardboard cut out

Tleaf My DD got a ninky nonk off my mum, she loves it. She's 2 and can't speak but whenever we get it out she stands and does all the dances for the characters by pressing buttons. It's super cute Grin
