To be annoyed I didn't get an Anya Hindmarsh bag?

Or more specifically to be annoyed at the people who did?

I always do my weekly Sainsburys shop on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning, shop is always pretty empty. I live on North Coast of N Ireland, not exactly fashion/latest trends hotspot, so I assumed very few people up here would know about it, and arrived at the shop at 8.

I didn't get one, because some people had been outside the shop since 1 this morning! Most arrived around 6, and had I been there 10/15 minutes earlier I probably would have been one of the last to get one, as only a couple of people in front of me didn't get one.

What made me really annoyed was the women who had got them talking openly about selling them on ebay, and the fact that some of them don't even normally shop in Sainsburys (according to staff, who said they recognised about half of the people who got them).

Sorry for the rant, I think I probably am being unreasonable to be annoyed, but it doesn't seem fair! I wanted one to use it, I always shop there!

Aitch my friends think the same as you but I really don't mind. I wanted one and I got one.

I wanted one before they went into sainsburys but they'd sold out online.

dh just come home and wants me to sell mine on ebay. One went for over £300 today apparantly.

I'm keeping it!

AitchTwoOh · 25/04/2007 17:00

you are crackers.

princessmel · 25/04/2007 17:09

I know

GreebosWhiskers · 25/04/2007 17:31

I use dd's bookstart bag too & if I'm going for groceries I use my RSPB bags. It's amazing how many people have asked me where I got them (especially since they've got RSPB written on them)

mishw · 25/04/2007 21:00

I got one too princessmel and like it.

I don't think its a bad bag for £5. At least I can say I only spent a fiver on mine not like the ebay morons! And I don;t thnk its that small - I suppose it depends on what you are looking for.

ZisforZebra · 25/04/2007 21:15

I made a tote bag using the bit I chopped off the bottom of my too-long ikea curtains. It's got a long strap, inside pockets and took about an hour. It's great. There is nothing a store could sell that would get me to stand outside at 4am.

princessmel · 25/04/2007 22:00

I don't think its too small either. I love it.

Haven't read all the thread but if you want a reusable bag then Primark do colourful string bags lined with a contrasting colour, or Asda does a range of cloth bags in their clothing section, both bags are under 2 quid (OK, I know they're probably manufactured by babies but you can't win them all....). Also Tesco does a juteshopping bag with ladybirds on, rather nice and smells yoghurt knitter-ish.

I'm getting a bit of a fetish about shopping bags and couldn't resist the latest M&S bag yesterday, even though I've now got loads of reusables. It's a pretty aqua colour with flowers and a butterfly print on one side, with the M&S logo on the other.

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 02:15

I don't get it, hat's so good about these bags? Why are they going for 100s of pounds?

powder28 · 26/04/2007 11:10

It's funny how some people have put 'rare' in the description of the bag and theres about a million of them on there.

Ive noticed the frantic bidding has calmed down now

PippiLangstrump · 26/04/2007 11:34

If you queued for hours because you wanted to get one to sell on ebay for a return of a million-zillion% I admire you!

If you queued for hours because you wanted one so that you'll look like evrybody else I think you are a nutter!

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 11:46

There's a competition on the Sainsbury's website to win one - I've entered!
I'll go along with any hype!
