To be annoyed I didn't get an Anya Hindmarsh bag?

Or more specifically to be annoyed at the people who did?

I always do my weekly Sainsburys shop on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning, shop is always pretty empty. I live on North Coast of N Ireland, not exactly fashion/latest trends hotspot, so I assumed very few people up here would know about it, and arrived at the shop at 8.

I didn't get one, because some people had been outside the shop since 1 this morning! Most arrived around 6, and had I been there 10/15 minutes earlier I probably would have been one of the last to get one, as only a couple of people in front of me didn't get one.

What made me really annoyed was the women who had got them talking openly about selling them on ebay, and the fact that some of them don't even normally shop in Sainsburys (according to staff, who said they recognised about half of the people who got them).

Sorry for the rant, I think I probably am being unreasonable to be annoyed, but it doesn't seem fair! I wanted one to use it, I always shop there!

May I just add that they were made in China so have a mahooosive carbon footprint as well?

Enid · 25/04/2007 09:27

IMO

It's like that Darimeya dress Kate Moss wore - you can get it for £60 from ASOS and there were people paying £150 for them on ebay!

noddyholder · 25/04/2007 09:28

There are loads of places to buy a reusable shopping bag.I got one in Marks at xmas it even has flashing xmas lights! It was £3 and is still going strong and holds loads.Or buy a basket

expatinscotland · 25/04/2007 09:29

What makes them really naff is that they scream, 'This is a cheap designer bag.'

Ugggh.

If I had one, I'd sell it and use the money to buy a nice bag.

I have an M and S one, can't put it over my shoulder though, the I'm not... looked like it would be easier to carry with a buggy.

Anyway, my annoyance is fading, was less about not getting the bag than all the people selling them on ebay - that's what's making it so designer label desirable. Having said that, Meglevache, I understand why you bought one to sell, maybe everyone where I live was doing the same.

I have to say that the reason i'm disappointed is because I really liked the bag. I already have a bookstart one which I use for the library/dd plays with, I have a recycle for essex one which I use for the shopping and wanted one of these because I don't have a change bag for soon to be baby and they looked really nice.

Plus I don't have the money to ever even consider buying designer clothes bags etc and this would have been a nice treat for me because it was only a fiver. I would never consider/be able to pay the prices on ebay so thats why i'm disappointed I can't see how that makes me sad?
