I am ill. I needed Lucozade.

My beautiful, darling child trekked off to the local Tesco to get me some and...

...the fuckers have changed it. It tastes weird. Can't put my finger on it, but it's weird.

It's Winter. People are unwell. They NEED their Lucozade.

Why is everything changing? Can't we have ONE THING??

That’s wierd . It’s for sick people only surely

That said bring on the sugar tax . Bring that fucker ON

IJustLostTheGame · 04/01/2018 08:20

I would pay extra for proper irn bru on a hangover.
I NEED irn bru on a hangover.

ShadowHarts · 04/01/2018 08:26

Lucozade Orange was my favourite drink, and I hate the aftertaste of sweeteners :( I swapped to KA Sparkling Pineapple and they’ve ruined that too!

prettypaws · 04/01/2018 08:30

Got Lilt recently and it's disgusting now and tastes nothing like the original.

FuckyNellYaBastad · 04/01/2018 08:32

Irn bru original £6.00 for 24 cans at Ocado today!

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 04/01/2018 08:35

I hate aspartame and sweeteners they make one of my health conditions flare up. Give me sugar any day!

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 04/01/2018 08:36

Sweets are also changing. I bought some cherry drops recently and they're foul now

Danniob · 04/01/2018 09:52

The reason you can’t find it in the supermarkets is because of the pressure large retailers are putting on soft drinks brands to replace sugar with artificial sweeteners in order to avoid passing on the sugar tax. They’re basically telling soft drinks brands if they don’t reformulate their products they will no longer stock them. As a mother I would personally rather give my kids sugar (as an occasional treat only) rather than artificial sweeteners and it maddens me that this choice is being taken away from us as consumers. So many “full sugar” products are being quietly loaded with artifical sweeteners in order to make them more “healthy”, and of course avoid the sugar tax. Retailers are driving this!

Ifailed · 04/01/2018 09:57

Lucozade went downhill whet they stopped selling it a glass bottle wrapped in orange plastic, it didn't taste particularly nice but it was something with calories in that you could drink when feeling ill, along with a spoonful of kaolin and morph that was kept in a brown bottle in the medicine cabinet.

Subtleconstraints · 04/01/2018 09:58

Kaolin and morphine was indeed miraculous stuff!

iammeegan · 04/01/2018 09:58

Surely this is going to do the opposite effect though. If something is full fat you tend to have it as a treat but if it is all no fat, sugar free then won't people think it's okay to to drink it all day everyday.

I think people's view on portion sizes and moderation need to change. No one really understands what a portion looks like. Did you know the small tube of Pringles actually has 2 servings in it!

The problem with making things smaller it encourages people to eat two or three. We all need re-educating on what to eat and how much.

ChoccyJules · 04/01/2018 10:06

Surprised that they have found fizzy drinks stop you feeling full as for me it's the opposite. If I succumb to a 'meal deal' at work and choose a fizzy drink (rare) it makes me feel bloated and stops me having extra snacks.

I never liked Lucozade. I am, however, on the side of the PP who said they were an adult and could regulate their own sugar intake without needing THEM to alter the ingredients. I also agree that in a few years this will all be turned on its head. Like the margarine/butter thing has been.

Tenshidarkangel · 04/01/2018 10:09

That would explain why last time I had a hypo (I have non diabetic hypos) Lucozaid didn't hit the spot as quickly as it has done in the past....

Balls.

Gingernaut · 04/01/2018 10:46

You need to guzzle twice as much as before.

Haribo, glucose tablets or Ribena might work.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/01/2018 11:01

EVERYTHING IS A CHEMICAL

I knew someone would pick meep on this Frog,

But you know what I mean.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/01/2018 11:02

*me up, not meep

Did you know the small tube of Pringles actually has 2 servings in it!

This is a typo, surely? The large tube barely contains enough Pringles for one serving.

iammeegan · 04/01/2018 11:13

I wish it was a typo. I could quite easily polish off a big tube but I think it's wrong to sell an item which you would assume is a portion when in fact it isn't

luckylavender · 04/01/2018 11:22

That's a terrible word in the title. Quite unnecessary.

primarnoodle · 04/01/2018 11:24

Whilst in labour my dh had one job - get me some orange lucozade.... he returned with LUCOZADE ZERO. he was lucky i didnt ltb...

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 04/01/2018 13:09

OH goodie. I've just looked this up on Google and discovered that they're pushing for this to be introduced in Australia in 2019 as well. Fanfuckingtastic. Good job we barely touch soft drink, but it will make it impossible to buy even nice lemon drink now - and possibly trash my ginger ale! What the fuck am I going to dilute my Pimms with now??

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 04/01/2018 14:05

When will they realise sugar is better for you than artificial sweeteners?

user1471517900 · 04/01/2018 15:32

Bumpowder - when someone finds some evidence to say that it is? And not just a vague feeling from someone on the internet.

Danniob · 04/01/2018 15:56

Totally agree!

juneybean · 04/01/2018 17:00

I know it's shite anyways but Tesco has replaced the sugar in it's own energy drink KX and it tastes awful. They already did diet versions!
