To ask DP to cancel 9.45pm restaurant booking

DP & I were reading the Sunday papers which featured a restaurant close to us. I mentioned it may be nice to go for my birthday which is coming up.
He immediately emailed & called them & eventually got a booking for a Saturday evening but at 9.45pm.

I feel ungrateful but it is too late for me - I’m thinking starters won’t be served until 10.30 !

Am I being ungrateful?

Blimey EastMidsMummy I think you are taking this way too seriously.

To be 'genuinely reeling' over other people not wanting to eat late in the evening is rather dramatic as is the way you are being so rude about them.
Why would you care so much about when people like to eat at a restaurant. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Quite.

I had a job for a while where I regularly left the house by 6:30 am. That means even a lie in til 8 is a 2.5hr shift. A good 3 course meal can easily take 2.5-3hrs, so then one might not finish eating til nearly one. I then wouldn’t be asleep til almost two and I’m then 4 hours away from pinging awake in the morning, knackered.

I totally recognise that other people don’t mind eating that late, but I really would. Just like others might view 6-7 pm as unacceptably early. Neither is a superior view: both are simply preferences.

I agree neverever it's all down to personal choice and all the variables that shape our individual lives. The matter under discussion isn't important enough to make a negative judgement about those who don't wish to eat late.
