To be horrified at how I look

theavianexecutioner · 02/01/2018 17:52

Just asked my mum to take a pic of me from the back and side, for bra measuring.
Horrified. I've been in SW on and off for a few years, need to go back. I've already decided I'm having a dry january and it needs to continue. I'm 43 in May and want to feel and look content.

MrsJBaptiste · 02/01/2018 18:53

In my head, I still look the way I did 10 years ago. Never a top model, but I did look good

This is so true for me. Granted my figure isn't too bad although slightly heavier after 4 weeks of celebrating Christmas but I look so much older in real life than I do in my head. I think I still look like I did in my 20s but at 40+ I need to keep reminding myself that this just isn't true! 😣

SureIusedtobetaller · 02/01/2018 18:54

My problem is if I lose weight it comes off my face. Everyone says “ ooh you’ve lost weight, your face is so thin,” and it’s not a bloody compliment argh.
But needs must. Off to the gym with me.

ticketytock1 · 02/01/2018 18:55

Same here. I'm a big fat mess
Got back on the sw wagon yesterday, aiming for a dry January which will really help. Good luck everyone

Littlepond · 02/01/2018 18:55

Oh this happened to me over Christmas. DH took a lovely family picture, I am horrified by my fsttyness. I'm short and round and frumpy and ugly. Back on WW the second I saw the pic!! Also got a Fitbit so going to do lots of walking, drinking lots of water, and avoiding sugary foods.

I don't need to be skinny (I never will be) but I need to like photos of myself!

Chickoletta · 02/01/2018 18:56

Lots of us feel this way, sadly. I lost 2 stone on Slimming World last year but have allowed half a stone to creep back on so am going back on Friday. It really does work. Good luck!

Littlepond · 02/01/2018 18:56

Oh I'm Dry Januarying too...

ShoesHaveSouls · 02/01/2018 19:01

I'm also shocked at the christmas family photo. Admittedly, I was the closest to the camera, and seated, but I look huge.

I wore (what I thought was) a nice red dress, but in fact I look like a giant tomato I'm someone who does not look good with any extra weight - I can't carry it off at all.

I will look ok if I lose a stone, fab if I lose 2. So the diet started today Wink

I'm a real yo-yo dieter. I lose and gain that same 2 stone over and over. I know I can lose it - but will it stay off??

RoseCuntedGlasses · 02/01/2018 19:03

My mom put a picture of me on Instagram over the holiday and I had to ask her to delete it as I was so embarrassed Blush

I’m two stone heavier now than when I had my daughter four years ago - and I was already about 4 stone overweight then.

It’s really starting to affect me. My periods have stopped and my doctor thinks it might be weight related. My blood pressure is sky high. I’ve got gallstones. My daughter says I don’t play with her, which is mostly because I don’t like to get down on the floor with her because I struggle to get back up!

It’s not the life I want.

I started weightwatchers on New Year’s Day. I just kind of wish it would come off as quickly as it goes on Sad

Jengnr · 02/01/2018 19:05

I filmed my dancing lesson before Christmas to look at technique. I was quite pleased with the dancing but I looked like an old, double chinned space hopper.

Anyway my council does 12 weeks SW for terribly fat people and it turns out I’m now one of them. Once I’m 2 stone down I’ll be overweight. FML!

Parkingwarssaga · 02/01/2018 19:07

Last year I attended a press event with work which was labelled as light exercise. It was a full work out and filmed. I was horrified when the video was sent to us. All the others who were slightly bigger had wrangled out of it so everyone else was young and fairly fit. I looked like a right lump :(

Jibberoo · 02/01/2018 19:09

Another photo failure here. Although to be fair I didn't need a photo to point out the obvious to me. Worst thing is I've been hitting the gym hard since September (4x1.5hrs a week) and NOTHING has changed Shock On top of that dh has lost a ton of weight last year and started a nutrition course so you'd think I could follow hi lead? Going to try for the umpteenth time to fix my eating habits which are obvs the problem. Wish me luck with that Confused

ShoesHaveSouls · 02/01/2018 19:12

There was an interesting Radio 4 program today about the old New Year weight loss efforts. I was listening to in the car. I'll see if I can find it on iplayer and link to it.

cathyclown · 02/01/2018 19:15

I also have a buddha belly, and wobble a bit.

But feck it, I am just going to walk a bit more and be more active. Spend too much time on my arse in front of a computer or on the sofa.

GET UP CATHY!

Well I swore I would start tonight but then the storm came in.

My name is Scarlett O'Hara though, and tomorrow is another day.

Keep the faith.

wizzler · 02/01/2018 19:16

I was sorting out photos of 2017 for a photobook. Came across one of my two kids sitting either side of a woman with the hugest arse imaginable.... T'was me.
Diet started today.
Good luck to everyone else starting this week
Sheldonesque your post made me smile, even in my despir!

yorkshireyummymummy · 02/01/2018 19:17

Oh, it feels so nice to read that I’m not the only one who feels like this.
I have chronic abdominal pain- some days I can’t even get out of bed - so excersizing is nigh on impossible.
I love cooking, I’m pretty good at it ( being honest, not bragging) but I love eating it too.
I used to drink a lot. About six to eight bottles of wine per week. Now I’m practically tee total. And when I stopped drinking I thought I would loose weight. No. Nothing.
I’m bloody massive, the biggest I have ever been. And I don’t like it but I just can’t stop eating. I wouldn’t mind if I ate what these before/ after people say they used to eat but I don’t! I cook from scratch , we eat lots of veg and rice. But I love bread and butter and won’t consider using ‘ low fat spread ‘ as it’s full of crap.
I’m going to try skinny sprinkles. I lost 3kg in about a week using them, but just using one a day as opposed to their reccomended three. Wish me luck!!

www.dchs.nhs.uk/assets/public/dchs/llb/tools/tools_1-11/4_DCHS_A5_4pp_The_Hunger_Scale.pdf This has really helped me. Not so much for measuring how hungry I am - but how full I am. I have known for years I over-eat. Nearly always ate until a bit uncomfortable could bore you with the emotional reasons why, but I won't And always, always finished my plate. thanks mum!

Then I read this. And started really thinking about how much Iw as eating. And why I ate until, in truth, I had eaten too much. And started "grading" how full I was after a meal. This led to me serving smaller portions.

And now, just a few months later I am turning into one of those people who say "No thank you, I am full." I am beginning to/have recognised when I have had enough - but before I have got to the overfull point.

I have not lost any weight - I had got to my idea weight - but had to exercise like a nutter to maintain it. I am now maintaining my weight much, much easier. And feel better physically and emotionally without the enormous stomach stretching meals.

HeyhoIndigo · 02/01/2018 19:28

I have just come on here to say : RoseCuntedGlasses I love your username.

Also I have put on weight over Christmas and New Year. It doesn't help that we are still eating gorgeous leftovers that I am not throwing away. So there. I made two quiches, Christmas cake, chicken liver pate and trifle. We also have a fuckton of cheeses and some smoked salmon and pork pie. Haven't seen the fridge shelves for a while.

Luckily DS will help out, he is 19 and over 6 foot tall, with a healthy appetite. He has just cancelled his gym membership !

WellTidy · 02/01/2018 19:29

I am on a mission to lose a stone and a half. That takes me to the weight when all of my nice clothes fit. Hardly anything fits me at all now and I really want to wear the clothes I like.

This is the heaviest I have ever been when not pregnant or immediately post partum. It doesn't help that I have a small frame and am 5 foot 1. I don't carry any extra weight well, let alone a stone and a half.

I know what to do to lose it. I just need to bloody do it.

frumpety · 02/01/2018 19:35

I am currently eating all the rubbish leftover in the fridge from Christmas , really craving something green and leafy , so bought a bag of spinach and am currently munching my way through it whilst eyeing up the spring rolls and cheese Grin

calzone · 02/01/2018 19:44

I’ve restarted sw today for weigh in tomorrow.

I got to target in 2016 and gained back a stone.

Basseting · 02/01/2018 19:45

That hunger scale looks useful, thank you.x

ReallyConvolutedCareerHistory · 02/01/2018 19:50

I've gained 40 pounds since 2015. :( That was after losing 50 in 2014.

So I'm back to my old weight and barrel shape.

Hello, my people.

Ryder63 · 02/01/2018 19:54

It wasn't Xmas photos that did it for me. It was lying on my side in bed, seeing my stomach flabbed out next to me like part of a deflated pink bouncy castle!

DenPerry · 02/01/2018 19:55

It's such a shock isn't it. I need to lose 8 stone.. ShockI'm tallish and think I get away with it more than I actually do.. I have a thinnish face and that's all I see in the mirror so I think I'm alright. I'm the photo taker amongst everyone I know so it's rare I see a full body shot. My DPs attraction doesn't change whether I'm 10 stone or 19 stone. I wear elasticated clothes so don't see a size. It's amazing how we can fool ourselves..

This is my face at 19 stone but my arse is the size of Yorkshire!

To be horrified at how I look
