Apparently they don't have the rights to show it here, it's not the first time this has happened wiyh shows but of course they are happy to take the full uk fees from us

Do you get shows the UK doesn't?

TovaGoldCoin · 01/01/2018 18:53

Netflix shows different things in different territories.... Just tye way it is.

havingfunhere · 01/01/2018 18:55

No we don't. We have a similar problem with google apps where we can't install apps that have in app purchases becsuse for some reason google doesn't recognise us

NotACleverName · 01/01/2018 19:00

Job done, OP

Crispbutty · 01/01/2018 19:00

Get a proxy browser and register yourself in england, I do this and register myself in the USA to watch Netflix US.

havingfunhere · 01/01/2018 19:02

Sometimes feel like it we try to order things and all comes up as do not deliver to the island or they want to charge an extra £20 for something thats costs only £15, still at least argos has started delivering to us

I do miss a lot of things from the Isle of Man (where I was born and raised yessir) but this sort of issue isn't one of them 🙂

havingfunhere · 01/01/2018 19:09

NotAClever, you may sorted dd1s birthday present as she is the one who wants to watch it

DorisDangleberry · 01/01/2018 19:21

On the plus side, you pay significantly less tax than those of us in the UK, so swings and roundabouts.

RedHelenB · 01/01/2018 19:22

YANBU just enjoying a friends fest with dd s today.

SimonBridges · 01/01/2018 19:26

You do pay less tax though, don’t you?

Also, I believe most countries pay similar fees regardless of where they are and the content they can get.

twattymctwatterson · 01/01/2018 19:27

Surely you've seen them all a load of times anyway? They have been repeated a million times

Coconutspongexo · 01/01/2018 19:28

Is Friends on Netflix now?

havingfunhere · 01/01/2018 19:29

Unless you're a high earner the difference isn't that great anymore, may be a couple hundred pounds a year for us and utilities are lot more due to the lack of competition

OP posts:
SimonBridges · 01/01/2018 19:29

It’s on U.K. Netflix as of today. Dh doesn’t understand.

SimonBridges · 01/01/2018 19:30

But no inheritance tax or stamp duty......

havingfunhere · 01/01/2018 19:40

There is a manx version of stamp duty but it is much less at £5.70 per £1000 but it is not much use if you struggling to get on the housing ladder due to prices and high rents meaning that it is difficult to save a deposit

Ha! YABU.

I've literally just finished watching the first episode. Some thins are better left in the past.

Shit hair. No jokes. And Monica should've told the spoilt bitch to fuck off from the start.

allegretto · 01/01/2018 19:47

YANBU - except about the postage. It does cost more to deliver to islands so not sure why you think it shouldn't be passed on to the customer.

RavingRoo · 01/01/2018 19:47

It really doesn’t make sense for them not to show a UK tv show in the Isle of Man. Channel Islands I can sort of understand due to it’s proximity to France.

KindergartenKop · 01/01/2018 19:48

You've got those awesome cats though, and that cool Tynwald. You don't need Friends.

havingfunhere · 01/01/2018 19:53

If it's a small item it doesn 't cost a lot more and I don't mind psying a small amount more, it's when they try to charge over the odds or when they are sending something through the post which charges the same rates

OP posts:
allegretto · 01/01/2018 19:57

when they are sending something through the post which charges the same rates

OK that is unfair. I was thinking of couriers. I have the same problem when the postage rate is higher for Italy (where I live) than to France - I don't think there is any actual difference in postage rates to Europe from the UK.

Domino20 · 01/01/2018 20:01

Try Mobdro. One of its channels is a continuous stream of friends?
