Apparently they don't have the rights to show it here, it's not the first time this has happened wiyh shows but of course they are happy to take the full uk fees from us

According to this list, Isle of Man Netflix users have access to 546 TV shows and 2422 films, compared to just 442 TV shows and 1586 films for UK users. So, Friends notwithstanding, you are actually getting a much better deal than we are.

FannyTheFlamingo · 01/01/2018 21:00

@havingfunhere When ordering online, sometimes I've put UK instead of IOM and had free delivery. Doesn't always work though.

Mumsymcmumface · 01/01/2018 21:10

Just a heads up, but if this is meant to be an anonymous website, posting the same thing on here and one of the Island biggest local fb groups under your own name might not be the best idea ever.

Plus, you don’t live in the Uk so get over it. As someone else mentioned we actually get extra Netflix content over the Uk, and pay less tax etc, plus it’s just nicer :-)

Suck it up, or there’s a boat in the morning (unless it’s windy, or foggy, or it breaks)

Happy new year.

FannyTheFlamingo · 01/01/2018 21:40

@Mumsymcmumface But it could be heading to the North Pole 😂

havingfunhere · 01/01/2018 22:05

I haven't put anything on facebook and namechanged from my usual name

It really doesn’t make sense for them not to show a UK tv show in the Isle of Man. Channel Islands I can sort of understand due to it’s proximity to France.

That doesn't make any sense. Unless you think someone from France will try and watch your TV screen from via a telescope

FRIENDS IS ON NETFLIX???!!

Totally misses the point of the thread!

TenancyTroublesAgain · 01/01/2018 23:34

I came here to say FRIENDS ISN'T EVEN ON NETFLIX but it is!!!

I don't know why I'm so excited because I have the box set!!

SimonBridges · 01/01/2018 23:40

Ah but with the box set you have to get up and put the disc in the player. Now you can just sit still.

Coconutspongexo · 02/01/2018 09:44

Mumsymcmumface

But if a weird post Hmm

Coconutspongexo · 02/01/2018 09:50

Bit of.

Friggin ell 😂

PurplePoppySeed · 02/01/2018 09:52

If you're an average earner with a mortgage, children and 1 family income then on paper you are absolutely a lot better off than on the mainland (I regularly compare with my cousin), however there are all sorts of "stealth" costs such as deliveries, travelling anywhere off the island, petrol, food, drink all more expensive and house prices inflated due to the rich residents there too so it really does even out for most people that earn anything close to normal salaries. Netflix must have fallen fowl of an IOM gov rule though, I doubt they've done it on purpose, more likely too lazy to sort it.. if you can get enough people to complain, they might fix it, though unlikely unless they start loosing subscriptions.

PurplePoppySeed · 02/01/2018 09:54

@Mumsymcmumface it is possible other people are pissed off too, but actually not a bad point about extras oh, and the IOM generally gets much better IT/internet services than the mainland unless you live near London!

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 02/01/2018 09:58

Yabu - Friends is dreadful. You’ve had a lucky escape Grin!

I always think of friends as the Coldplay of sitcoms. That’s not a compliment.

SimonBridges · 02/01/2018 09:59

Even if Netflix lost every subscriber on the IOM I doubt they would notice. It’s a drop in the ocean to them.

x2boys · 02/01/2018 10:13

Get sky and watch it on comedy central they have been showing it on a constant loop for years.

KellyBarclay · 02/01/2018 10:41

You can get the complete boxset of friends at most charity shops/car boot sales up and down the country for a couple of quid these days. Don't really understand the hype about it being on Netflix.

alexgrin · 05/01/2018 14:47

You can use proxy servers to watch any blocked content. I use fineproxy with the speed ranging from 100Mb/s up to 1Gb/s. It has affordable price and there is an option to chose IP from other countries or regions.
