Have all the family over tomorrow for new years day dinner.

Asda were supposed to deliver my shopping between 5pm-7pm. It still hasn't arrived.

I tried to call their customer service line but it is closed.

I have 10 people coming tomorrow for new years steak pie.

Shit!

Asda home delivery is the absolute worst

So nothings changed then since I had the CEOs office involved after our delivery didn't turn up as promised one Saturday night before 7pm. Hang on say customer services as our babysitter is sat there while we're waiting to go out. It's on its way they say. 11pm and still no delivery and we didn't go out. Next day we're told it was never on the van in the first place. Interesting conversation with a lady 10 doors down, several days later, who I just happened to know. That very same night an Asda delivery turned up, which she explained was not for her but directed the driver who said....ahhhh can't be bothered just keep it. To which she refused and he said he'd chuck it. I will never use them again and after the same thing happened to a friend a couple of weeks after me, I cringe whenever someone uses them, because I genuinely wonder if they will get their delivery.

We tried Asda delivery once, we had just moved into our new house and had done an online order to get the essentials in so we had one less thing to think about. It turned up on time..but with 2 bags of the 10! The driver said he didn’t know where the rest of it was..
Of course the only thing we got was all the stuff like table salt and bin bags - no actual food!! Never again after that..

FucksakeCuntingFuckingTwats · 01/01/2018 17:02

Maverick genuinely puzzled why the woman you know didn't just keep it then pop up to tell you it was there when you were obviously waiting for it.

bunbunny · 02/01/2018 09:54

I can understand why the other lady didn't keep the asda order - if you tell someone that they need to deliver 10 doors down as they have the wrong address you expect them to turn around and deliver it 10 doors down - whether they walk it down if they are carrying some or drive down - it's what they have been paid to do, it wouldn't occur to me to think they would say they would bin it. Maybe they wanted to keep it for themselves and were assuming that you would never find out and that he coukd say lady refused delivery or wrong address provided or similar.

But particularly if it involved lots of fridge or freezer stuff, I wouldn't have the space to store it properly and I wouldn't know if you were out or I might be doing something that meant I couldn't pop out right there and then or there could be a load of reasons why you wouldnt want the responsibility of being left with the order...

Hope the CEO realised the appalling state of the service in that instance!

MaverickSnoopy · 02/01/2018 10:50

Well the woman I knew was my friends aunt, so I knew her in passing and to talk to but not a friend iyswim. She'd moved in probably about a month before and although she knew I lived in the area, didn't know what address or that I was even expecting an order, so couldn't possibly know it was anything to do with me. So as far as she was concerned it was just a random delivery for someone in the area. I was then out with my friend for drinks a few nights later and her aunt popped in. I happened to be having a rant about asda and she piped up and said oh what a coincidence and explained about the order turning up at her house. To be fair we assumed that it was my delivery...but I think this was a fair assumption based on the fact that it was the same day and time and road.

immodium subbed with senakot
Did I really just read that? GrinGrinGrin

LagunaBubbles · 02/01/2018 11:14

Hope you got your steak pie OP and it wasn't too much extra hassle for you.

mayaknew · 02/01/2018 12:03

Update.

I checked the app this morning to get my order number before I called them. The app today says delivered Monday 1st Jan at 10.02am.

So I called the store home shopping dept. The girl said their system showed it was delivered on Sunday 31st at 4.30pm!!!! It certainly was not !!!! I said to her there wasn't even anyone in at that time I rushed home for 5 to wait in on the delivery. So anyway she's refunding me the money and crediting a voucher to my account.

But I think I will also send an email to their actual customer service dept.

Oh and conveniently that particular delivery driver is off today Hmm

@berwickswan

Yes, unfortunately!! Think someone at asda had an interesting sense of humour Grin Grin

Hope you enjoyed your steak pie OP Smile

Stolenchoccies · 02/01/2018 14:23

ffs that is awful

ask to see your signature on the online thingy

KathArtic · 02/01/2018 15:04

I'd have been biting my nails to the knuckle with worry if I'd ordered so late. I would have bought the pies during December and frozen them. Like wise I have a few bags of frozen veg in case any fresh is out of stock, and we always add a few bottles of wine to our shopping from November onwards to spread the cost. We do our JO gravy early December and freeze that too.

I like to be able to sit back on Christmas Eve knowing i have my meal plans sorted and all the food in the cupboards or freezer ready for Christmas, New Year and an inconvenient birthday slap-bang in the middle.

dingdongdigeridoo · 02/01/2018 15:11

Not all of us have much storage space for extra food. My freezer doesn’t hold much, and I have no cupboard space for extra wine! Sometimes you have to shop kind of last minute.

KathArtic · 02/01/2018 15:24

Yes, it is difficult trying to store everything.

This year DH had the idea of taking the salad drawers out of the fridge and using the extra space for pork pies and bits that don't freeze. We kept all our salad bits in the garage with in the spud bag . Also, eggs can be kept out on the worktops too.

I appreciate some people have to order last minute and it is terrible customer service that the stores don't keep customers informed of delays, seem indifferent to missing items, and as above, have some drivers who just dump the orders anywhere.

GoReylo · 02/01/2018 15:40

So they probably arrived early. That happens with me a lot. Tesco turn up 20-30 minutes early, acting like I should be pleased to get my shopping a bit early. If I wanted it earlier I'd have booked an earlier time slot!

Enidthecat · 02/01/2018 15:53

Oh dear op! I stopped using asda when the delivery driver turned up an hour early, rang me, i was out told me I best get home or he was off.

I got back 10 mins before my slot even started and he said I'd wasted his time he wasn't paid to wait around for people and he would have me "blacklisted"

I complained he denied it and i think I got a tenner e voucher! They're crap!

On another note I really could fancy a steak pie right now!
