To be annoyed by the bagpiper outside my home?

I totally appreciate what day it is here.

I live next to a pub. In Scotland.
They have a fully kilted piper outside who has been playing for the last hour. It’s nice enough.
I wouldn’t mind and would understand if I lived in town, but we actually live in a residential area with many children and babies.

AIBU to be annoyed if this continues beyond 9pm and all evening? There’s no way i’ll get my kids to sleep like this!

Can't think what could be annoying about that! Grin

blueskypink · 31/12/2017 19:53

YABU - I LOVE bagpipes! South East here so no chance of hearing any 🙁

shakeyourcaboose · 31/12/2017 19:55

Lived in Edinburgh for years including 4 of which were uni so v v central, eventually you will zone out!

YNK · 31/12/2017 19:55

YANBU- My father played the bagpipes and I lived with it in my home! Shock

ShakeShakeTheMuffin · 31/12/2017 19:56

Bloody hate bagpipes so YANBU. Hope they stop soon for your sake but I suspect they won't.

TenancyTroublesAgain · 31/12/2017 19:58

Yanbu.

EvelynDoll · 31/12/2017 19:59

@shakeyourcaboose I’ve been here all my life, still bloody hate them

I won’t mind if he just goes IN to the pub but he’s outside.

I sound like such a party pooper, maybe I’m getting old, I just think families are entitled to their peace :( I wouldn’t care less if I didn’t have children

Years ago I worked in a town centre shop and one particular week we had a bagpipe busker stood outside the opposite building from 9am until 5pm. I reckon by the end of the week, with a few rest breaks and the right light, I could have stuffed the whole bloody set of pipes and bag up his sodding arse.

Hygge · 31/12/2017 20:00

YABU just because I love the bagpipes and I'm jealous.

Seriously, he can't go on all night can he? Maybe if he gets it out of his system now he won't do it again at midnight.

billybagpuss · 31/12/2017 20:00

I love bagpipes, but their rightful place is in the middle of a Scottish glen with no houses within a 5 mile radius.

imaddictedtomn · 31/12/2017 20:01

Happy New Year, OP Grin

Nicknacky · 31/12/2017 20:01

He will probably just be outside greeting the guests then go inside.

SheGotOffThePlane · 31/12/2017 20:02

My downstairs neighbour is a piper and will be warming up from about half 10 before heading to his resident hotel. I love the sound of the pipes but not the warm up Grin

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 31/12/2017 20:03

Good god I'd be furious! I live in Scotland but am another bagpipe hater. I'd be pouring hot water on him by now! Hope he stops soon...Let's hope he's not going to keep it up till the bells...

dementedma · 31/12/2017 20:04

They can be stirring or moving for short periods, but they seriously get on your tits after a bit!

steff13 · 31/12/2017 20:05

Oh my goodness, I would love that. That doesn't happen in Ohio. 😔

AdaColeman · 31/12/2017 20:07

He's outside the pub because he's been banished there from inside the snug!

1DAD2KIDS · 31/12/2017 20:09

Personally I would be suspious. It's probably to mask the sounds of the mass murder of kittens.

TheHungryDonkey · 31/12/2017 20:09

Wish the pub next to me did this. Instead of the smashed beer glasses and fights over the price of cocaine at 3am. Always wanted to learn the bagpipes.

isseywithcats · 31/12/2017 20:09

my dad was from Glasgow and i still love the sound of bagpipes even now

apostropheuse · 31/12/2017 20:14

YANBU I hate the sound of the bagpipes! Bloody awful din!

Gwenhwyfar · 31/12/2017 20:14

I'm in Wales and I can hear bagpipes coming from somewhere.
It will be noisy till well past midnight anyway, unrealistic to expect anything else on NYE.

geekone · 31/12/2017 20:16

YABU if you don't like noise don't live beside a Scottish pub (especially today) GinGin chin chinWine

Ah that made me smile .

@TheHungryDonkey that’s generally what happens
