To be upset that Hootenanny isn't actually live?

All these years I've been thinking what a great guy Jools Holland is, to give up all his NYE's to do the show.

And then a friend who is a producer at the BBC today told me to look out for him in the audience, as he went to watch the filming earlier in the year.

I'm so upset!

It’s a generally well known fact that the Hootenanny isn’t live! Did you really think all those celebs would give up their glam New Years plans to hang out in a studio together?!

I think once you find out it's recorded, it seems really depressing to watch. Yep, they didn't give up their NYEs, they are at exciting glamourous parties - and you're not.

I used to enjoy it but once i discovered, a few years, that it wasn't live, it lost its sparkle for me and I no longer bother.

Seriously? Can you imagine just how much they would charge to give up their new year!!

I've always hated it anyway (and him), but even more so when I read on here a few years ago that it's not live.

And the results show for Strictly Come Dancing is filmed straight after the main show and then just shown on Sunday night.

A friend used to go years ago to the filming - the day before. Her mates Dad was a camera man so they got tickets.

It really does take the shine off it doesn't it? And what if one of guests died between recording and NYE?

I knew it wasn't live, but nice of you to come on and spoil it for those who enjoy it and didn't know!

Since my DH discovered it wasn't live he was so disappointed and refuses to watch it. Think it's been about 5 years since he found out.

I haven't watched it since I discovered it's pre recorded. It's just not the same, knowing they're all pretending.

Also, I (jokingly) predicted Lenny Henry and Dawn French had split up the year they weren't on it. And then they did.
