We moved to Leeds 3 years ago and I've honestly never felt so lonely. I need to meet people and get out of the house.

I work nights so it's hard but I need to do this!

Sooo tell me your hobbies so I can have some ideas! Please and thank you!

My hobby involves being a rich tory bastard who delights in screwing over the little people by shitting on pavements... Apparently Wink

In other words, I have horses, who bleed my bank account dry, take up all my time in menial labour and cover me in mud, hay, slobber and worse on a daily basis. I don't recommend it, unless you have masochistic tendencies. (Although it is great fun and the rewards outweigh the shit - which is copious, so that says quite a lot)

I also learn Russian, attempt to play the piano (badly), run (slowly and very, very painfully) and dabble in a few other things too.

I'm also up for a north leeds meet up! Liking the idea of the WI too.

BrokeAndBad · 31/12/2017 15:03

Horses.

Don't do it.

Barneyboo2 · 31/12/2017 15:27

The Cookridge Crumpets WI's next meeting is Salsa dancing on 9 Jan. I'm also up for a North Leeds meet up. How is the best way to arrange it?

user100987 · 31/12/2017 16:24

Barney that would be my nearest WI so I'm up for that! Do you already go or have you seen it advertised?

StillWorkingOnACleverNN · 31/12/2017 16:27

I love Crossfit and also play in a chamber music group (we are not good). I'm in a book club but the membership has changed a bit and it's not the same - with the right people it can be great. I love listening to podcasts and books on tape while running.

Barneyboo2 · 31/12/2017 16:36

I have been, but not for a while! They are a great bunch of ladies and have a few spin off groups too.

Volunteering at Parkrun?

Knitting
Dog things

EmpressoftheMundane · 31/12/2017 17:52

I like to sew, when I have the time. Once you reach a level of proficiency, you can make yourself some lovely things. Sitting with a whirring sewing machine is solitary though.

If you want to meet people, book groups, walking clubs, gym classes etc. would all be better.

Bumblina · 31/12/2017 18:30

I could create a Facebook group for the north Leeds ladies then post a link?

Geekmama · 31/12/2017 19:43

I'm a LARPer, I also do quilting, crocheting, infusing Gin and Table top Role-playing.

Christmastits · 31/12/2017 19:52

@Bumblina that sounds great!

greedycushionhoarder · 31/12/2017 20:14

Do you like horses? Hope pastures on the ring road at weetwood are asking for volunteers.

Bumblina · 31/12/2017 20:16

I love horses - I have riding lessons at Acrecliffe Equestrian centre and have visited Hope Pastures many times - i would definitely volunteer, I'll go and visit in the new year, thanks

I joined a new church, they very community spirited and encourage lots of ways to get to join in and know each other and also those in the local community. So you dont need to be a Christian to join in.

You could still join choir or toddler group, coffee group for the older attendees etc etc.

Someone gave me a hug recently (I'm not a hugger!), asked how i was after a few weeks away, kind of realised I'd made a new acquaintance/friend with minimal effort, was a nice thought

Coastalcommand · 31/12/2017 21:39

Swimming, tennis, photography, am dram.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 31/12/2017 22:46

I run a Brownie unit. It's a great way of meeting other people. You don't have to run a unit yourself, you could just be an adult helper or even an occasional helper.
