We moved to Leeds 3 years ago and I've honestly never felt so lonely. I need to meet people and get out of the house.

I work nights so it's hard but I need to do this!

Sooo tell me your hobbies so I can have some ideas! Please and thank you!

I run three times a week and that's enough with young DC. I am continually trying to learn Spanish and I love sitting doing a paint by numbers set.

Barneyboo2 · 31/12/2017 10:11

OP I could have written your post. I'm in Horsforth, moved here 4 years ago and have one friend and my sister that is moving abroad this year Sad my New Years resolution is to join a club and make friends too. Perhaps like PP suggested we should make a club for everyone who wants to make friends in Horsforth Grin

NotMeNoNo · 31/12/2017 10:12

Every year I pick a short evening course at my local college and sign up. So far I’ve done bread making, cake decorating, sign language, floristry, drawing, watercolours. Not that expensive and some courses provide the materials. I also go to Zumba, read, garden and enjoy my motorbike.

BewareOfDragons · 31/12/2017 10:21

I'm going to have to try some ideas on here, too. OP, great to put the question out there. I need to get out there some more, too. x

ClaryFray · 31/12/2017 10:23

The sims - okay I ca do that alone but there's some online communities.
Yoga - love it.
Bullet journal - also online but met some interesting people

DamsonGin · 31/12/2017 10:29

Leeds has quite a good softball scene, according to a friend up there.

Oblomov17 · 31/12/2017 10:32

Goodness. I don't have any hobbies. Likes the look of OP's wine tasting!!

sparklesbarkles · 31/12/2017 10:40

I'm Leeds-ish. Lived here all my life. Have done courses at the college in horsforth and made friends there. I like the look of the wine tasting though
Most of my social life revolves around small DC now but I'd come to a group meet up.
Honey pottery in new roadside has ladies nights with wine and pizza. They are awesome.
I used to be in Spice which was organised social things, often for singles. I don't know if it's still around.
I went to the village gym for years, never did classes though or made friends.

Starting an evening class in interior design soon, so will hopefully meet a few new people that way.

@bridgetreilly out of interest where do you study your online art degree?

@TrojansAreSmegheads - bloody amazing!

My hobbies are rather boring: singing in choirs (3!) Djembe drumming, pilates and gardening (which is rather solitary).

iveburntthetoast · 31/12/2017 11:11

Ashtanga yoga, it’s Mysore style so only 4-5 people per class. The teacher also runs meet-ups for a chat one Saturday per month.

Best of all is horse riding. I love it & feel like a part of a community. I would get a horse tomorrow if we could afford it

Bumblina · 31/12/2017 11:21

I'm up for arranging a north Leeds meet up!

Polkadotties · 31/12/2017 11:26

I have a horse. He takes up all my spare time and money haha

RainbowQuilter · 31/12/2017 11:30

Knitting, and a knit and natter group.
Crochet
Quilting Club
Writing letters to friends. I go and sit in a cafe with a cup of tea and piece of cake while I do this.

I've also done a bunch of the adult education classes my local council puts on, soap and candle making, yoga, felting, pottery.

Christmastits · 31/12/2017 12:06

My husband does park run and I can't even do couch to 5k haha! He's really taken to it so I think I might have to let him have that one 😂

Christmastits · 31/12/2017 12:25

@bumblina let's do it! I'm
So up for that!

I was inspired to return to church bell ringing after a 17 year gap. Note that attendance at church is not required, in my experience.

topcat2014 · 31/12/2017 12:30

Inspired by previous MN threads, I should have said

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 31/12/2017 12:31

Horse riding. I don't recommend it unless you like having no money. Grin

ChiaraRimini · 31/12/2017 12:41

Walking group- try Ramblers and Meetup. Really sociable, so easy to chat to people as you go along.
Art history evening class
Gym/exercise classes
