To think this is a perfectly fine meal?

My main meal of the day. I've had a cheese scone so far all day. Aunt just wandered past and made a comment on what I'm eating. Apparently it's greedy.

She's now sulking in the living room with my parents because I told her it wasn't greedy.

It's about 50g turkey, 50g cheese, five or six slices of beetroot and a tablespoon of pickle. Bread is about half an inch per slice.

Its all delicious and I'm really enjoying it too.

To think this is a perfectly fine meal?

I’m sorry but there’s something wrong with your meal - you need more than 2 picked onions!!

ferntwist · 31/12/2017 20:09

Looks like a snack to me too. Enjoy Grin

NotGoodMika · 31/12/2017 20:12

OP pointed out, her Aunt is older, my mother is increasingly annoying at complaining at peoples food portion sizes, completely forgetting she hated it when her elderly mother did the same..

StillWorkingOnACleverNN · 31/12/2017 20:19

Looks great to me. Is your aunt offering to make supper?

Katedotness1963 · 31/12/2017 20:19

That would do me as a meal. I'd probably round it out with a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit though.

I think it's relevant to know who's house it is?
Are you staying at your parents' with your aunt? In which case it would have been polite to offer to make her a sandwich?

It is a bit impolite to prepare and eat a meal for one when you're a guest and there are other guests?

There's also the issue of did you use up all the ham/cheese or whatever. That's a no no in our house without offering to share Grin

QuestionableMouse · 31/12/2017 20:35

Parent's house, my own food. I did offer them all a sandwich but they declined because they were going out to eat.

Ah fair enough then Smile

Loreleigh · 31/12/2017 21:03

I don't have much of an appetite at the moment but I would have at least that and probably a few more bits on the plate too. Each to their own - don't let anyone dictate to you and enjoy your meal...have seconds if you fancy it just to poke a finger up, as such ;)

newperson · 31/12/2017 21:54

Looks amazing! 😍👌🏼

Elma78 · 01/01/2018 01:42

It is inappropriate to comment on other people's food. Full stop. Even if it were greedy or weird- of which neither is the case!

tombstoneteeth · 01/01/2018 04:47

Perfect! All the major food groups - only the alcohol is missing.

IndigoMoonFlower · 01/01/2018 05:27

Its fine, not greedy at all!

Rude of her to pass opinion, but it sounds like something my DF would say tbh. I think maybe it's because the older generation didn't have as much protein as people do today. Probably they ate more carbs and they might have had sparse sandwiches?

Im glad you carried on eating and enjoying your food, good on you!

Pensionista · 01/01/2018 06:41

YABU.......where's the Chips ?

PuffinBadger · 01/01/2018 08:37

Good for you sticking up for yourself. She probably wasn't expecting it. Might think twice next time.

PuffinBadger · 01/01/2018 09:07

our household rule is that until the 6th we guzzle and chomp our way through most stuff
I like that rule and i like the words guzzle and chomp. Grin

Abbylee · 01/01/2018 10:09

Maybe she's hungry; so a little cranky?

Polopolopolo · 01/01/2018 10:27

Do people really called pickled onions just pickle

No op meant the tablespoon of pickle next to the beetroot. They didn't mention the pickled onions for some reason.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 01/01/2018 14:41

Eat what you bloody well like and ignore any comments.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 01/01/2018 15:45

DagenhamRoundhouse if your user name is a clue we might be neighbours Xmas Grin

abualb · 01/01/2018 16:10

Yabu

That's a fine meal but who on earth has 2 pickled onions?

I eat about 4 just putting them on the plate!

I couldn't imagine commenting on anyone's meals/snack or dinners. Yours looks lovely and I hope you enjoyed it.

spangles1963 · 01/01/2018 17:28

Looks fine for a meal to me. No doubt someone will be along soon to comment that you could feed a family of 4 for a week on it. A few years ago,I made myself 2 rounds of fried egg sandwiches (4 slices of bread,2 eggs) plus 2 hash browns. My DM said 'You're never going to eat all THAT are you?' Yes I said. And I did. Smile

TenancyTroublesAgain · 01/01/2018 18:40

It's hardly greedy. Wtf.
