To wonder how Ive gone this long without having an electric blanket.

Got it for xmas and its the best thing ever, although I never want to leave my bed again. Grin
Minus 10 outside currently but Im so cosy.

I suffer from lots of aches and pains and this is easing them so much.

Has anyone discovered anything this year that they could now no longer be without?

Oh and a little veg cutting knife which I’d not expected much from when I bought it but it’s become absolutely essential to me.

Gosh all of mine seem to be about vegetables. How boring !

Fancy tights. Wolford Neon 40 for spring/autumn and Heist 80 for winter. I love these because they are high waisted, don’t slip down at all and last for aaages! I’ve still got the Wolford tights I bought at the beginning of 2017

Nespresso machine. Fantastic

Autumnchill · 31/12/2017 11:00

I've subscribed to Amazon because of this thread and just saved a fortune on Gourmet Cat food and set up a monthly delivery.

Husband now wants to look for dishwasher tablets, toilet roll, kitchen roll.....he then got lost in the whisky section. Told him we will need to make space in the messy cupboard for bulk buys, 'no problem' he said and he will do it tomorrow!

Thank you!!

germainegrainne · 31/12/2017 12:09

Tumble dryer.
Anti depressants - desperate to relatively content in weeks. Should have went to the doctor years earlier.
Our kitten.
Amazon Prime - had for years but is an absolute essential, especially at Christmas time.

Next year I will be trying the soap (!) and Spotify....

MynewnameisKy · 31/12/2017 12:28

Ok I second the veg cutting knife. And also lots of chopping boards for different things.

MissMoneyPennies · 31/12/2017 12:30

Games of Thrones.
Bialetti coffee pot and milk frother. Got it for Christmas last year and have used the coffee pot every day.

catnapz · 31/12/2017 12:37

My cordless Dyson hoover! Hoovering is no longer a chore and actually quite fun now!

Sgtmajormummy · 31/12/2017 14:32

This Christmas: battery powered fairy lights with a 2-hour timer. Our tree is small and goes on the dining table unless that's needed. So we just lift it off without trailing wires everywhere.
This year: WhatsApp. It's helped our suddenly farflung family keep in touch about those all-important daily things.

EasterRobin · 31/12/2017 15:04

Parking sensors and camera.
Robot vacuum cleaner.
After reading this thread I'm about to buy an electric blanket as a late Christmas present to myself.

Woodman03 · 31/12/2017 15:15

Heated steering wheel.
Gesture control boot.
Adaptive cruise control.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/12/2017 16:13

Oh I want a gesture controlled boot

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 31/12/2017 16:42

Marie Kondo
My cleaner
Leccy blanket!

Oh and Twinings Everyday tea...

lljkk · 31/12/2017 16:44

Don't the parking sensors drive you crazy with constant beeping noises? Does my nerves in. I can't coordinate looking at mirrors & at the rear-view camera, on top of that trying to gauge the green-yellow-red zones and listening to the screaming beeps. Just No.

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 31/12/2017 16:44

My motorbike, sure I could take the car to work but my motorbike cheers me up no end. Shaves some time off the commute too.

Mollie85 · 31/12/2017 16:44

Citalopram - it literally (saved) changed my life

Kindle unlimited - (almost) any book I want, anywhere and anytime Grin

My Dolce Gusto - creamy coffee at the push of a button (and the pods on sale on Amazon) and I don’t need to remember to buy milk!

Estée Lauder double wear nude foundation - my skin has never looked so dewy and flawless

MAC false lashes mascara - I finally have eyelashes that you can see with the naked eye

On the flip side - things I discovered this year aren’t as great as I thought they might be:

Microwaveable heat bags - they don’t get hot enough and I am worried that if I leave them any longer, they will catch fire

M&S Jaffa cakes - double the price for half the taste (the little rectangular ones)

Dying my own hair. It saved me £110 but looked like I’d spent (less than) the £15 I actually did.... Grin

OneMoStep · 31/12/2017 16:46

Mollie, have you tried the M&S mango Jaffa cakes though? I think they're lovely. I haven't tried the orange ones.

Straycatblue · 31/12/2017 16:48

After reading this thread I'm about to buy an electric blanket as a late Christmas present to myself.

Yaass! Resistance is futile. ps I think i said it earlier but get one with a fitted mattress skirt as the ones where you have to lift the mattress to tie the ties underneath are just annoying. Also, dual control. (feel like Im a born again electric blanket preacher)

Wanders off to google gesture controlled boot

Pepsi Max Ginger. Those PepsiCo bastards. I didn't use to bother with fizzy drinks and now I am addicted.

FixItUpChappie · 31/12/2017 17:05

Awesome thread, bit expensive.....I just purchased 2 fitbits on Amazon prime with free one day shipping Grin

ghostyslovesheets · 31/12/2017 17:08

Running - amazed I can manage longer distances this year

Groupon - great for cheap nice shampoo/conditioner

Zoflora - 4 cats - smell be gone!

Loveache · 31/12/2017 17:19

Spotify. Learned so much.
Nespresso machine (last year's Christmas present.) So quick and nice.
Wolford tights. Pricy but then they are indestructible.
Hair plumping powder.
An amazing sex toy (for lesbians)
Batch cooking

ticketytock1 · 31/12/2017 17:22

My slow cooker and my actifry
Both amazing contraptions

TossDaily · 31/12/2017 17:32

A sex toy for lesbians? How does that work?

Mollie85 · 31/12/2017 17:38

onemostep I’m not a massive fan of mango - but if they put them by the til on special I might give them a go Smile

I was massively underwhelmed by the normal ones though...
