to still be upset about the unwanted touching my friends and I got last night

We're three late forties women who went out for our annual Christmas drinks last night.

As it was the last Friday before Christmas we knew it would be busy and people would be drunk, but we couldn't meet any other night so went with it.

We weren't out looking for men, we just wanted a catch up, a giggle and a good gossip!

In the space of five hours all three of us were inappropriately touched by men. I had my breast touched by a man who decided I had something on my black top so he wanted to 'rub' it off. There was nothing on my top and he was told not to touch me. I was called a 'miserable bitch'.

My friend had her bottom touched twice by the same man. This was while he passed by her and she asked him politely not to touch her.

Other friend was pushed into a corner and grabbed round her waist. Again he was asked not to touch her which was met with indignation that she was a boring cow!

If we managed to find a seat to chat men would tell us we were boring, smile etc

Why do we put up with this shit? Why do some men think they have the right to do and say crap like this to three women out for drink and chat!

All three of us just shrugged it off at the time, but we've since had a text convo agreeing it's just sad and not on.

Anyway, rant over and merry Christmas everyone!

I slapped a man who grabbed my boobs a few months ago and I got thrown out the pub not himAngry

BatShite · 23/12/2017 20:08

Men behave badly an awful lot from my experience. Most recnt example would be when I went out for a drink with my mother I am 30, shes 55. We got the usual 'are you sisters' whilst he was staring down my mothers top trying to flirt with her..she was loving the attention tbf to start with, she likes a flirt. Until the dirty twat decided to actually brab her tit, then tell us it has always been his fantasy to 'screw mother and daughter' at the same time. Ugh. I felt physically sick at this. He followed us to the next bar too. Disguting pervert.

Dozer · 23/12/2017 20:12

Jesus batshite!

Namechangetempissue · 23/12/2017 20:12

Absolutely disgusting and sadly very common.
Before I had children I went out most weekends to bars and nightclubs and would be molested most weeks in some way, be it my arse being grabbed, slapped and pinched, boobs stroked, and one horrifying time, someone actually stuck their fingers up my skirt and into the edge of my underwear Angry. This would always be in a crowded nightclub where the identity of the person was easily hidden, but you could usually tell who it was by the smirking. How ANYONE could find this acceptable or even alluring is beyond comprehension.

BertyFlanter · 23/12/2017 20:13

Batshite ugh! I’m an identical twin and men do seem to think that it is fair game to vomit up their sexual fantasies randomly 😷🤢

Have you ever had your balls cupped by a man rwalker?

I've had my breasts and undercarriage grabbed by a VERY persistent lesbian. I did not like it one little bit. Was it worse than being touched up by a man? Personally, I can deal with man, I know how a heterosexual man ticks.

But could you explain to me why you, and a couple of others, seem to think a man being touched up by a woman is somehow not as serious as being touched up by a man? There aren't grades of assault, depending on your gender and the gender of the assaulter.

PaperBagPrincesa · 23/12/2017 20:17

Sigh. :/

How do we not all hate men?
It's a miracle.

AuntLydia · 23/12/2017 20:18

It isn't about it being more serious, it's about how ridiculously frequent it is. Sure, men get harassed by women too. But it's not the constant, unremitting harassment that women face from men when they go out in the evening.

JacquesHammer · 23/12/2017 20:20

Look at this thread and the frequency of women being harassed by men.

Rwalker shouldn't have been assaulted. But it doesn't "even up" the ongoing and persistent objectification of way more women than men.

I an just imagine how often you must get it as a twin.

I wonder how they expect these conversation to actually go. 'Oh yes, we are very into incest, lets go'?!

FluffyWuffy100 · 23/12/2017 20:25

Yup it’s fucking bullshit. No I don’t want to dance with you and no I am not a fucking bitch.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 23/12/2017 20:26

Rwalker I hope you told her get lost to, male or female it's not right and you shouldn't have to put up with it. Angry

YADNBU. I hate it that women always get blamed, either because of what they were wearing, who they were or weren't with, because they were friendly, because they weren't friendly, because it's Christmas etc etc.

Creatureofthenight · 23/12/2017 20:31

You sound very polite OP. I wouldn’t be asking some random not to touch me, I’d be telling them to fuck right off.

mullmepopcorn · 23/12/2017 20:32

It doesn't even it up that men are occasionally assaulted too, or that some women do it.

When a man is groped by a woman, he is unlikely to fear being followed jumped on beaten up and raped by her later.

Apart from that, it's just the same.

user1488890697 · 23/12/2017 20:38

So sorry to hear you and your friends had to go through this...those perverts should be locked up!

Namechangetempissue · 23/12/2017 20:38

Thinking about this since I posted and so many incidents are coming back to me. I was once called a liar and a racist because I wouldn't let a man "dance" with me (letch and rub me all over) in a nightclub and I told him I didn't want to and was engaged. I really was and was wearing my ring. He got really pissed off and tried to touch me anyway, and then told me I was lying and it was because he was black. All because I didn't want to be sexually assaulted. So depressing.

I'm guessing you told them where to go?? It's not a new thing but no one speaks out. I've slapped someone. Thrown drinks over them. I react in the hope someone will be more weary being a perv.

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 23/12/2017 20:43

Unless there's a backstory, why is rwalker's story being dismissed?

He had his balls groped by a drunk woman/women. That's no better than the OP's experience.

The fact he (presumably) doesn't get catcalled etc. on a regular basis shouldn't diminish the fact he felt sexually assaulted.

(unless there's some huge backstory about that poster I'm not aware of). Confused

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 23/12/2017 20:44

^ too many mentions of backstory there ,,,

Namechangetempissue · 23/12/2017 20:44

I've always reacted IF I could tell who it was. Sadly you just seem to get a mouthful of abuse back about being frigid or some such shit. Some men get genuinely nasty. It's quite rare they do just fuck off when told.

Humpsfor20yards · 23/12/2017 20:44

How does it even things up Milton. Can you explain?

JacquesHammer · 23/12/2017 20:45

@Milton absolutely his story isn't being dismissed.

But the fact he posted to "redress the balance" is

Lizzie48 · 23/12/2017 20:46

This sort of thing used to happen when I was single. I remember that I was accused of being racist more than once when I refused to respond to a man's advances towards me. I was very young and a student at the time.

On an aeroplane I had a man sitting next to me who kept wanting to fondle my breast.

Why is it that some men think a woman on her own wants sexual advances from a man they don't know, just because she's polite enough to respond when they talk to her? I've learned to be standoffish now. Hmm
