To try to stick it out for two more days? (Illness related)

I have something very wrong with me. 111 said to get to A&E. I can't really tolerate 4 hours in pain waiting to be seen. I don't want to go to Hospital A, as I was admitted for 5 days and they did nothing to resolve the problem.
I know nothing about Hospital B.
The alternative is trying to wait it out for another 48 hours and seek treatment in my home country.
I'm not an ambulance case (yet) at least.

What would you do? You know A did nothing, so don't know whether they will do anything now even though condition has worsened.
You know absolutely nothing about B.
You don't know exactly how serious condition is and whether trying to wait it out is wise.

What would you do?

Are you on a wind up? You can either dither about on here for 4 hours then decide you need to be seen and wait a further 4 hours or go now and let them decide how quickly to see you.

What is the problem? Gallstones? Don't mess around with them

Floralnomad · 22/12/2017 20:28

Did you post something similar a couple of weeks ago , this all sounds very familiar ?

SingaSong12 · 22/12/2017 20:30

If they said things should be getting better by now go to hospital- you risk pain for two days, then not making it to the airport, not managing at the airport or being turned away at the plane. Or the really selfish one being very ill on the plane.

Abouttoblow · 22/12/2017 20:32

Please don't risk getting on a flight. It could be really dangerous for you.
You may not have faith in the hospital but it's certainly a better option than taking seriously ill on a plane Flowers

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 22/12/2017 20:32

And yes I would be livid with you if you delayed or caused a diversion on a Christmas flight. How selfish of youm

If you're worried about being in pain in A&E for four hours, how are you going to cope for two days, plus a plane journey home? Hmm

sillysausage16 · 22/12/2017 20:36

This sounds very like the hypochondriac on another irritating thread

RoundLikeARecordBaby · 22/12/2017 20:37

i'm gonna guess you have gall stones or pancreatitis by what you've said. I've had both. If gall stones and the attack passes you can easily manage to get home, its a managable condition when not acute. if pancreatitis get yourself to a hospital now, it can cause all sorts of problems.

Sorry to be harsh but you are an idiot to risk internal damage like this. get to a hospital.

OfAlltheFlowers · 22/12/2017 20:38

Think I'm going to pass out which should solve the problem all round. I don't mind sitting in A&E for hours, I just don't think I'm fit to. Plus I don't want to sit for hours on a horrible metal chair, have nothing done and get sent home in the same state or, worse still, be admitted and they still do nothing and I don't get home for Christmas. That's why I'm keen to try to wait it out. Then again, the state I'm in, I'm not even fit to pack a suitcase never mind navigate the underground.

I think I'm going to go to A&E somewhere. Probably B. Fuck it anyway.

Hippywannabe · 22/12/2017 20:40

I thought gallstones too. I had mine out last week in an emergency admission. Go back to any hospital but go!

Sullabylullaby · 22/12/2017 20:41

No, it's neither pancreatitis nor gallstones. Something entirely different. I'm far from a hypochondriac. I hate feeling unwell. It's just the timing of it.
Ok, I've made up my mind, I'm going to B.
Abuse someone else who is unwell now.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 22/12/2017 20:41

If you're as unwell as you claim to be you won't be sitting around for hours.

Asiaticlily · 22/12/2017 20:41

If you’re not in a fit state to sit in A and E for four hours then you probably won’t be. For example - someone who’s had a stroke probably gets priority, someone who’s limb has been severed would get priority. If you can sit at home, I don’t think it would be much worse to sit in hospital.

Besides, what makes you think that by flying to your home country the hospital treatment would be any different or better?

You should give A a chance as if they’ve already done the scans and tried treating it once they will probably try something else, and it might not even be the same people treating you so seems unfair to write off a whole hospital!

ememem84 · 22/12/2017 20:42

Er...wt have I just read? I hope your ok op. In a&e either waiting to be seen or being seen

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 22/12/2017 20:42

Oops someone forgot to change their name!

OfAlltheFlowers · 22/12/2017 20:44

I hope none of you get this unwell so close to Christmas where a 5 day stint in hospital leaves you worse off.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 22/12/2017 20:44

Been there done that got the tshirt hence the straight talking

8pawsgood · 22/12/2017 20:45

What a ridiculous thread.

Sirzy · 22/12/2017 20:45

So unwell that waiting a few days and then flying is a possibility ....

OfAlltheFlowers · 22/12/2017 20:46

Because the only treatment (effective treatment) is the one they wouldn't perform. Why? Cost maybe - not efficacy. That is why my home country might be wiser. It's not the NHS.

OP posts:
stickytoffeevodka · 22/12/2017 20:47

Has it occurred to you that people HAVE been there, and they're trying to get you to see sense, before you make a decision that could have devastating consequences?

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 22/12/2017 20:50

If you require urgent surgical intervention they will operate. If you're simply having a flare up of a chronic condition they will patch you up and send you home.

Don't forget your E111 card when you go

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 22/12/2017 20:50

Or EHIC as I believe it is now

RoundLikeARecordBaby · 22/12/2017 20:51

but if the original/first option course of treatment hasnt worked they will move on to something else.

no idea why you wont say what you have, that can hardly be outing and we might be able to give better advice.

if you are in that much pain the airport staff wont let you on a plane
