Came across this article in the Mirror just now (Sorry, it's another Meghan one) where she says Prince Michael of Kent wore a 'racist' brooch when meeting her.

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/meghan-markle-greeted-racist-jewellery-11736477

General consensus from the comments suggest she knew exactly what she was doing. I don't know anything about her to know if it's suspect but it seems an odd thing to own let alone wear in public. What's the jury?

Also, is Michael an actual name for a woman, I've never heard of it before

Do they really all curtsy to each other at social/family gatherings?

PuppyMonkey · 22/12/2017 16:52

Thanks for the explanation. How come the other son isn't a prince then - the duke of Skegness?

PuppyMonkey · 22/12/2017 16:52

FFS I mean KENT not Skegness Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 22/12/2017 16:53

@ElephantsandTigers There's definitely something in what you've said. I remember not too long ago after that awkward 3-way chat between Kate, William and Harry it was said to be quite remarkable that Kate now apparently sounds a lot posher than the royals themselves.

Tipsntoes

I'm imagining a group curtesy dance kind of thing after reading eltons post, all in a giant circle, curtesy, turn to the person on the left, curtsey, glide around the room, turn to the person to your right and curtsey Grin

He is Puppy. Prince and Duke.

Roussette · 22/12/2017 16:54

Oh yes of course it will be deliberate. It will be a planned act. She probably had the jewellery piece commissioned especially.

diddl · 22/12/2017 16:54

"The Royals all curtesy to the queen and then curtesy to each other in order of precedence. "

Isn't that just the biggest load of bollocks?

Are women still expected to curtsey whilst men can just bow their heads?

EggysMom · 22/12/2017 16:55

You're a minor royal. You have a choice of jewellery. You even have people to help you dress. And yet you CHOSE to wear the blackamoor brooch?

Dinner with Meghan or not - in modern times there is NEVER a good time to wear that brooch.

Roussette · 22/12/2017 16:55

Puppy I love that! The Duke of Skegness!

Can we please have a Duke of Bognor as well please. Grin

PuppyMonkey · 22/12/2017 16:55

Oh right. Confused

It's all a proper load of old bollocks basically isn't it? Grin

PuppyMonkey · 22/12/2017 16:56

I reckon they could make Eddie or Andrew the Duke of Skegness, give them something to do.

Roussette · 22/12/2017 16:58

Andrew needs to be the Duke of Bell End Grin (yes there is such a place, it is in Worcestershire)

Austentatious · 22/12/2017 17:00

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/9351571/The-Queen-tells-the-Duchess-of-Cambridge-to-curtsy-to-the-blood-princesses.html

who curtseys to whom. And how seriously they all take it. Can you imagine what happens each time they nip out for a cig? all the women have to start bobbing at the knee to each other when the menfolk come back in.

CurryWorst · 22/12/2017 17:00

Andrew is the Duke of York and Eddie is the Earl of Wessex.

PuppyMonkey · 22/12/2017 17:02

Yeah but York and Wessex can probably just take care of themselves - Skegness could do with a bit of support. Grin

CurryWorst · 22/12/2017 17:12

Who's going to even get all those men off the damn hill though?

Carouselfish · 22/12/2017 17:14

misses point of thread The mum from the Waltons real name was Michael.

But I once, as a naieve teen please note, wore a giant iron cross necklace. Bought from a goth shop, I thought it was just a medieval cross. Blush. It's possible it was unintentional, but she's a grown woman, with aides around her...it seems unlikely.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/12/2017 17:16

The mum from the Waltons real name was Michael

So was one of the Bangles. She was a bird too.

PuppyMonkey · 22/12/2017 17:16

Grin Curry

Loonoonow · 22/12/2017 17:16

I would imagine that's the last time Princess Pushy will be invited to that lunch and she will probably be free to watch next years FA cup as well.

WhooooAmI24601 · 22/12/2017 17:22

Wow, I always thought she was a bit of a twat but this is a whole new level of arseholery. That brooch is the type of thing owned and worn by utter cunts.

Aeroflotgirl · 22/12/2017 17:32

What a nasty and spiteful woman. I hope she was severely repremanded by the Queen or courtiers. Very inappropriate and racist.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/12/2017 17:37

I suppose they'll have to invite her to the wedding

I'm not so sure. As with the Cambridge's wedding it won't be classed as an actual state occasion - though no doubt it will feel like one - and William and Kate didn't have to invite every single royal going, european or otherwise

So maybe they'll be able to concentrate on folk they actually want to be there?

EmpressoftheMundane · 22/12/2017 17:39

Press must love it. You can't have a proper princess story without some sort of evil stepmother/old crone type lurking in the shadows.
