Veiled insult, faux pas or not a big deal?

Came across this article in the Mirror just now (Sorry, it's another Meghan one) where she says Prince Michael of Kent wore a 'racist' brooch when meeting her.

General consensus from the comments suggest she knew exactly what she was doing. I don't know anything about her to know if it's suspect but it seems an odd thing to own let alone wear in public. What's the jury?

Also, is Michael an actual name for a woman, I've never heard of it before

RE the Prince of Wales thing, it doesn't matter. Wives of princes are not Princess Firstname anyway.

Princess Diana wasn't. People just thought she was, she was never entitled to that, she was Diana, Princess of Wales. Megan will never be Princess Megan, Catherine is not Princess Catherine and never will be.
You have to be born a princess such as Princess Anne and Princess Charlotte to have the title. As a wife you can be Princess of Whatever, but never Princess Firstname. You can choose to be Princess HisName but its not likely these days.

Princess Michael/Pushy was born a Baroness, daughter of a Nazi.

How weird! disgusting brooch and what an odd choice on that day of all days. If she was just out with her usual chums you might htink nothign of it, maybe that she just liked it strange as that is but ....... just odd.

What an absolutely vile woman.
I have to say that when the news broke of the engagement, I did wonder what kind of woman wants to give up her career to live off tax-payer's money, I'm not exactly a fan of the Royals, but as time goes on the more sympathy I have for a woman who fell in love with a man that happens to be a Prince. I just hope she copes with it all, and stays in one piece.

Well if she didn't do this deliberately, she must be really fucking thick to think that brooch, and what it stands for, has a place at any occasion at all.

I am.on the fence about this one. Princess Michael does have form. What about the 'Remember the Colonies' to the American diners.

I love the antique Blackamoor jewellery, it's beautiful, I would love to own some but cannot afford it. I will agree it's of its time (Venice and Pirates) and is probably too controversial to be worn publicly.

How does anyone know if that broach was worn to the lunch? Probably a load of nonsense but I doubt if it did happen Markle would be concerned - would she?

ivykaty44 Dunno how Meghan would feel but I'm mixed raced and if I went to my bf's house and one of his relatives were wearing one of those or a Gollywog I'd be shocked and appalled and demand answers

American papers are picking up on it now. I think this woman will finally get what she deserves.
Considering how prince Harry reacted on Meghan's treatment in media in their early days, I don't think anyone is getting away with something like this lightly, be it a Royal or not.

I've no idea why anyone thinks she'll be thrown out of the fold for this though. The queen and co have put up with her for long enough, there's no evidence they particularly dislike her and I don't think they'd see this as a major transgression. Philip's racist comments through the years have been more than tolerated.

I feel sorry for Megan though.

ivykaty44 she was papped going into the lunch by many of the press. Are they all wrong and she wasn't actually going to that lunch at that time?!

I hope there's a furore about this and it bites her on her arse
