Sorry but any parent who states that they have a beautiful/gorgeous son/daughter. It's the adjective I hate because it seems so boastful and pointless at the same time. Because literally everyone thinks their child is beautiful right, so is there really any point in saying it? And because I read the phrase constantly, so the sheer repetitiveness and unoriginality have started to grate. Nothing to do with how much people love their kids, btw.

FireCracker2 · 23/12/2017 07:09

Inappropriate- it is such am overused prissy word

BackInTheRoom · 23/12/2017 07:28

Supper. SUPPER! Who says this nowadays?! 😡

SilverBirchTree · 23/12/2017 08:07

‘Leap’ as a way of explaining anything to do with a babies behaviour.

‘Mamma/mumma/mama’ when said by an adult. Particularly when used as an affirmation like ‘you know best Mumma!’ ‘You go mammas!’ ‘Mamas deserve a break!’ Bleurgh.

‘Babe’ for Baby, really annoys me for some reason. Sickly sweet I guess.

Azzizam · 23/12/2017 09:21

"Picky tea"

WrittenandGrown · 23/12/2017 09:30

’Got caught’ as in became pregnant. This phrase makes me cringe so much I almost turn inside out, especially when a woman uses it about herself.

PutDownThatLaptop · 23/12/2017 09:35

PavlovianLunge · 23/12/2017 09:38

And yes to the # guff on facebook, particularly the smug parental stuff. A cousin posts #mummyslittleman #lovelikenoother and similar, it’s one of the (admittedly many) reasons why I don’t go near facebook any more.

LemonShark · 23/12/2017 17:23

From another delightful thread about not washing: 'pits and bits' 😷😷😷😷

foodfrax · 26/12/2017 23:23

Picky tea is when you have meats, cheeses and the like out. Not really a buffet, it’s a picky tea.

I hate the phrase "lost my shit"

As a person with a condition which often results in some desperate bathroom visits I doubt If the people who use this phrase know what it is like to actually "lose their shit"

snowpo · 26/12/2017 23:27

meandmytinfoilhat · 26/12/2017 23:45

@Stillme1 I hate that phrase too. I've noticed that it's usually said by the person that is full of shit and wouldn't say boo to a ghost.
