Picky bits 😷

FuzzyCustard · 21/12/2017 10:24

"Box Sets" . Surely it should be "boxed sets" as it is not a set of boxes, but a set of films. And not "movies" either.

echt · 21/12/2017 10:31

Thank you, thank you, thank you, FuzzyCustard, on both counts.

Fucking boxed sets!! I've run out of red ink crossing out "movies" in essays.

Itsallfuckery · 21/12/2017 11:39

Gawjus. What the fuck is that?? Are you 12?? Speak properly!!

PasDeDeux · 21/12/2017 11:46

I really hate naff office speak, the main contender being 'Run with it'! No idea why, it just fills me with rage!!!

fruitbrewhaha · 21/12/2017 11:49

'Pieces' to refer to furniture or clothes

FELICITYFLISS · 21/12/2017 11:55

Cops instead of Police. Oh, and the way teens (and older) talk in that 'Gangsta' style.

InsomniacAnonymous · 21/12/2017 12:03

Spaces instead of rooms.

crunchymint · 21/12/2017 12:26

Teenagers in Britain calling the police The Feds. Really annoys me. You are NOT in an American film. It is the police.

Teenagers in Britain calling the police The Feds.

So true. If I hear any teenager use this phrase, I cannot help but think they are simply utterly thick.

dragonwarrior · 21/12/2017 12:58

Yes to "agree to disagree" .... no, you have pissed me off, I now will never agree with anything in this moment not even that we disagree

ToadOfSadness · 21/12/2017 13:48

Back in the day

Dirty when applied to food ie: a dirty burger, was it wiped around the floor then?

Reaching out - no you sent me an e.mail, no offering of hands or arms happened.

FuzzyCustard · 21/12/2017 15:52

And anyone who adds a "sh" sound to an "s" word.....apart from the "conshoomers" I have also heard "shtrictly", "shtuffed", "Urshula" etc etc.
This seems to be a new thing but is so widespread (not "wideshpread") (even on the BBC - how dare they?) and it makes me growl.

FuzzyCustard · 21/12/2017 15:54

echt I will gladly buy you a huge pack of new red pens specifically (not "shpecifically") for the purpose of deleting "movies". HURRAH!

SelenaValentina · 21/12/2017 16:16

Sorry, Speakeasy, but 'poorly' is both an adverb and an adjective. So 'Are you poorly?' is correct. I think it's possibly a regional thing too.

Grrrr to 'yorkshires'. They are Yorkshire puddings.
Grrrr and yells at TV to 'droring' for 'drawing' and similar.

And what is a 'dirty' burger, exactly?

YESitsanextender · 21/12/2017 16:19

Any even vaguely onomatopoeic word being used in association with food

“he’s munching on his biscuits” no he’s eating biscuits

“Nomming a McDonald’s” grr

I overheard a woman telling her toddler to “gulp your water” the other day and it made me feel strange. I realise this is probably not a normal reaction and I probably have issues though.

Selassi · 21/12/2017 16:21

Lush
Brunch
Brekkie
And when a guy calls me sugar

Azzizam · 21/12/2017 16:38

Poorly
You sound like hard work
"Like" being used every about ten times in every sentence as in Kardashian talk.
Anything to do with "ovaries" exploding, shaking, fanny trembles - just so crude

LemonysSnicket · 21/12/2017 16:53

@twiney i am a Yorkshirewoman and day lovely all the time ... am I allowed?

LemonysSnicket · 21/12/2017 16:53

Say not day * Hmm

LemonysSnicket · 21/12/2017 16:56

And I agree that hubby is smug

HelloGabriel · 21/12/2017 17:35

I don't know why but it really makes me cringe when people refer to their husband as 'my husband' when it's someone I've actually met in person and therefore know in name.

For example my colleague constantly says things like 'right I'm off home to see my husband' even though I know his name is John and have met him several times! Just call him fucking John! 😄

ValentinaCat · 21/12/2017 17:41

Cluster

"I COULD care less" Hmm

limon · 21/12/2017 17:46

Shamazing. (Wtaf)

As such (said completelybout of context or without need "I'm going to the park, as such")

Little prince

Little princess

TabbyMumz · 21/12/2017 18:06
