To think Christmas is a nightmare for cinnamon haters

It's bad enough during the rest of the year making sure it doesn't sneak into apple crumble and pie and perfectly lovely without lamb. But by golly from Halloween to New Year it's bloody everywhere. If it's not in your food it's in your drink plus everywhere is pumping the scent of it out. AIBU to call for a ban ON THE WORST SPICE EVER

OP posts:
Humpsfor20yards · 19/12/2017 22:23

But no one hates cinnamon- that's like hating Father Christmas!

steff13 · 19/12/2017 22:24

Cinnamon is the best. YABU.

ILoveMillhousesDad · 19/12/2017 22:26

Yabvu. Cinnamon makes everything you mentioned, much better.

It smells and tastes delicious.

alltoomuchrightnow · 19/12/2017 22:26

also visiting america is a nightmare for anyone hating it! But I bloody love it :)

GreenTulips · 19/12/2017 22:28

I hate it too!!!

DramaAlpaca · 19/12/2017 22:28

I'm with you OP, I hate cinnamon too.

overthemolehill · 19/12/2017 22:28

Yadnbu Cinnamon is the dust of Satan, spreading it's evil veil across Christmas Angry

Pagwatch · 19/12/2017 22:28

I'm with you Moogletea.

There are only about two occasions when cinnamon enhances anything.

twinjocks · 19/12/2017 22:28

OP, YABU and frankly delusional too - cinnamon is absolutely THE VERY BEST SPICE!!! Xmas Grin [santa]

Pagwatch · 19/12/2017 22:29

It is the dust of Satan

TipBoov · 19/12/2017 22:29

I'm with you OP, I have a horrible reaction to cinnamon and it's everywhere this time of year!

DeepestDarkestRiver · 19/12/2017 22:29

I am with you, Moogletea. I am a cinnamon hater. Although I don't mind it in savory dishes, anywhere else is ruinous. Bring on cinnamon-free January! Down with cinnamon!

elQuintoConyo · 19/12/2017 22:30

The number of dogs i know called Cinnamon has shot up - so YApartlyNBU.

Especially 'Cinnamon, where are you my little lamb chop?' Grin *

But, i love the smell and taste of it. It's right up there in my comfort food zone with nutmeg. Mmmm nutmeg on hit milk, reminds me of my DGM.

*Big Bang reference.

Nacknick · 19/12/2017 22:33

Cinnamon is evil

SingingSands · 19/12/2017 22:34

I have found my people!!

Nobody else seems to understand my hatred of the stuff.

DH, who loves it, sprinkles it on everything and buys huge tubs of it, says it’s my most unattractive quality Grin

KenForPM · 19/12/2017 22:35

No, we can keep cinnamon. Tis lovely. But can we please ban coriander? That stuff is disgusting.

AgentProvocateur · 19/12/2017 22:37

I hate cinnamon too, but worse than that is the artificial cinnamon smell that you get in shopping malls or - horror of horrors! - a cinnamon candle! It truly is the devil's spice.

DentalDilemma · 19/12/2017 22:49

I reckon people who hate cinnamon also torture kittens. Highly suspicious, I mean how the fuck can you not love cinnamon?!

PickledLilly · 19/12/2017 22:51

Bleurgh, it's vile and anything 'Christmas' flavoured or scented is full of the disgusting stuff

IrkThePurist · 19/12/2017 22:52

Flings thread into Room 101.

Smugly eats cinnamon cereal from the box.

Amanduh · 19/12/2017 22:52

I agree. I have amazing tasting things. Then cinammon comes along. Now they all taste the same. And like cinammon.
GO AWAY

Amanduh · 19/12/2017 22:52

If my phone spelt it correctly at least that is

squoosh · 19/12/2017 22:53

Americans are as obsessed with cinnamon as they are with guns.

KnobJockey · 19/12/2017 22:54

Yak. Awful, awful flavour, glad I've found my people who agree!

I went to an ice cream parlour yesterday, they had a gingerbread flavour. The woman behind the counter says 'of course!' when I ask if it has cinnamon in, and looks surprised when I turn it down. Why?! Cinnamon and ginger are not the same thing! Gingerbread is lush, cinnamon is not.

MerlinsScarf · 19/12/2017 22:56

I could eat cinnamon-dusted everything, all day long, so its recent proliferation is a dream come true but I was idly wondering this yesterday! There are other ingredients I can't eat which often ruin perfectly nice food.

My sympathies (and if you can send me the offending pastries and lattes I'll gladly dispose of them for you Grin).
