To think that pet names for each other...

Xmas day next week at DS and her DPs house they are like Love sick teenagers both in their 50s newish relationship

Call each other ‘bunny’ which was cute at first but now it’s just irritating, yes it’s related to their sex life. TMI for me. worst still the kids have worked that out as well

That’s one thing but the whole house now has a bunny theme they are absolutely everywhere - ornaments, pictures, cushions, slippers, mugs, even the doormat! it’s like a bloody rabbit Warren, their presents next week will all be bunny related as well

Keep these things private and not for everyone to have to be exposed to?

ConcreteUnderpants · 19/12/2017 07:40

It's stuff in their own home. How much more private do you want???

ConcreteUnderpants · 19/12/2017 07:41

🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰

AuntieStella · 19/12/2017 07:42

If you cannot bear how someone conducts themself in their own home then do not visit.

Irrespective of your presence age or theirs.

(They might be glad not to have an ageist guest - after all, you seem to be more bothered about relating their habits to their age, than their habits in themselves).

Itwillbelonelythisxmas · 19/12/2017 07:43

Aaahhh see they are everywhere! The dam things just breed

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 19/12/2017 07:43

I think it’s quite sweet! Like that couple on gogglebox who call each other Nutty.

Wineasaurous · 19/12/2017 07:44

Oh OP you are ridiculous

Itwillbelonelythisxmas · 19/12/2017 07:44

Don’t have an issue with their habits pleased that they are so happy

Jealous if anything but just wish it wasn’t so overt that they clealry want to the whole world to know they are at it like rabbits all the time

Is this something she told you or are you just guessing this is to do with sex?

Is it not possibke that they just like bunnies?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 19/12/2017 07:46

Rather that than calling each other "stupid fucking cunt" or similar.

Totally sex related!

Velvetbee · 19/12/2017 07:47

Yep irritating. Even more baffling, in my book, are those upper class people who go through life called Buffy or Spiffer.

Itwillbelonelythisxmas · 19/12/2017 07:49

@chocolatestrawberries - ha ha you know my other sister as well then 🤣

LizzieSiddal · 19/12/2017 07:53

I find pet names quite endearing whatever your age!

But letting everyone know it's sex related is awful

naughtybutnicey · 19/12/2017 07:54

Is it okay to be 28 and have bunny cushions everywhere and call each other flopsy and rampant. What's the cut off?

OwdBets · 19/12/2017 08:00

Pet names, eh? Doesn't bother me.
Ageism does though. That is deeply unpleasant.

RickOShay · 19/12/2017 08:02

Dh and i call each other arse. I am 49, he is 51Grin

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 19/12/2017 08:03

Life’s too short to begrudge anyone else a bit of happiness, who cares.

BitOutOfPractice · 19/12/2017 08:03

I call my DD1 Bunny. Often shortened to Bun Because she's as cute as a bunny to me.

I also have pet names for my BF (though they're not sex related). We are both in our 50s.

You would hate me op

RickOShay · 19/12/2017 08:03

Not sex related

AngryGinger · 19/12/2017 08:04

Is 50 that is that you can’t fall for someone? I think it’s sweet. My partner has a pet name for me, which is a sort of variation of my first name. I can’t see him stopping calling me that when we reach 50

thegreylady · 19/12/2017 08:06

Dh and I are 81 and 73 respectively and use pet names for one another. I’m less keen but he has always done it not just for me but also for 5dc now in their 40s.

musicposy · 19/12/2017 08:13

Pet names don't suddenly become creepy because you're in your 50s. Your title is horribly ageist.

If they're revealing their sex lives to everyone, you could be justified in thinking that's a bit much. But only if you'd think the same if they were 20.

DH and I have been together over 25 years and started out with pet names for each other (not sex related, though!). We still use them. Because at what point were we meant to decide "sorry but I'm going to have to call you Mr Smith now instead of fluffykins Grin"? On our 50th birthdays? Our 40th?

blueskyinmarch · 19/12/2017 08:21

Age aside, I think it is a bit horrible. I am imagining them calling each other 'bunny' in a twee, faux sexy, breathy whisper, making doe eyes and fauning over each other in way that makes you think they want you gone and to be at it again. Am i right?
