I can't recall how we got onto this topic but a man at work seems to think that two slices of bread with a filling and cut in half is TWO sandwiches.Hmm

Whereas I think two slices of bread with filling is ONE sandwich cut in half...

What day you ? Smile

I agree with you op! However my gm thinks 1 slice cut in 2 is one sandwich, she is wrong i tell you wrong

ItsNachoCheese · 18/12/2017 21:15

Two sandwiches ffs i need to proofread more haha

Splinterz · 18/12/2017 21:15

Nah nah nah.... two rounds of bread make one sandwich.

JanetStWalker · 18/12/2017 21:15

Similar question: You have a decision to make between two options. How many choices do you have?

ColonelJackONeil · 18/12/2017 21:16

I find rounds of bread or toast confusing. How many in a round and why is it called a round?

Mxyzptlk · 18/12/2017 21:19

A round refers to ‘a round of sandwiches’
What does that mean?

Mxyzptlk · 18/12/2017 21:21

Okay, I just googled and it said :
6 Nov 2014 · A slice of bread, originally as cut from a round loaf; a slice of toast. Round 29.c. Chiefly Brit. The quantity of sandwiches (typically two) made from two slices of bread.

So that's us all sorted out, right?

Pebbles17 · 18/12/2017 21:22

My DH and I had the exact same discussion and he promptly emailed the British Sandwich Association (yes it does exist) who confirmed that 2 slices of bread made into a sandwich and then cut in half is ONE sandwich

Anyone else who thinks otherwise clearly needs help

ColonelJackONeil · 18/12/2017 21:25

Wait there's a British sandwich association?

Neiflette · 18/12/2017 21:26

Janet

One choice. Two options.

steff13 · 18/12/2017 21:27

If you think about it, when you make a sandwich with two slices of bread and cut it in half, each half isn't two slices of bread, it's one. It's two different pieces of bread, but if you put them side by side, they only equal one slice.

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 18/12/2017 21:27

I remember this question before.

2 slices of bread is one sandwich. No argument, no ifs or buts.

PompholyxOfUnknownOrigin · 18/12/2017 21:28

Two slices of bread, crusts cut off, cut DIAGONALLY into four = well-mannered sandwiches, suitable for afternoon tea.
Two slices of bread, cut into two, = two sandwiches, suitable for lunch.
Two slices of bread, not cut at all, well that's just rude.

Somerford · 18/12/2017 21:28

Here come the puns!

Pun fight.

ALemonyPea · 18/12/2017 21:29

It’s one sandwich.

DH says it’s two sandwiches, and causes endless arguments in the Pea household. Had I known he thought this way, I’d not have married him.

Neiflette · 18/12/2017 21:30

If two pieces of bread make one sandwich, then when you cut it in half you only have one slice of bread for each... So it's half.

One slice of bread folded with a filling, is half a sandwich.

Two pieces of bread cut into quarters is one sandwich not four.

One slice of bread folded and cut in half is only a quarter of a sandwich.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 18/12/2017 21:32

Putting all the different theories aside, if someone asked you to make a sandwich or you offered to make someone a sandwich how many slices of bread would you take.

2, I wouldn't take 1.

Weezol · 18/12/2017 21:33

Cherry, Pebbles and Colonel your three posts have made me laugh so much that it's properly perked me up after a grumpy day Grin Thank you.

Neiflette · 18/12/2017 21:35

You have a single choice between two options.

This is something that my grandmother drilled into me. She's also vexed by people who refer to the ground as the 'floor' as if they are the same thing.

So is that it now then? There are no new threads ever?

DameSquashalot · 18/12/2017 21:37

I think the BSA should listen to Trojan 😋

steff13 · 18/12/2017 21:37

Your grandmother sounds like my kind of lady. It's strange to call the ground the floor.

ArgyMargy · 18/12/2017 21:39

This is an important thing to decide before we leave the EU, I think.

JanetStWalker · 18/12/2017 21:39

Your grandmother sounds like a fine woman, Neiflette. It's so irritating when people insist, 'you have two choices'.
