The apprentice winner is selling 825g of basic sweets for £18 +£5 standard delivery

www.sweetsinthecity.co.uk/collection/giant-jars-of-joy/gjoj-retro-classic/

Morrison's are selling almost double the amount of mostly the same sweets for £5 and you can get free delivery

And a multimillionaire invests 250k in this while people up and down the country are having public services cut to the bone. If you made your fortune wouldnt you want to invest in businesses that help the community

Why are people still moaning about the title? It was changed 4 minutes after it was posted and I still think the complainers have no basis for outrage.

I clicked on the thread because it was in the trending box. The"spoiler alert" doesn't show up on that because the box only shows the first few words of the title. It wasn't at all obvious this thread was anything to do with the apprentice. I've been purposefully avoiding apprentice threads all day. Not your fault OP, (but I'm still disappointed I now know the results).

Jux · 18/12/2017 15:15

It's hardly British entrepreneurship at it's best anyway. It's a tv show, it's entertainment for us, a tax write-off for Sugar and some silly person gets a bit of dosh - which, at its best, might mean they employ a few people for a while.

It's crap. I'm quite sure someone as successful as Sugar invests far more in serious business, and just has a laugh with this.

Goldenhandshake · 18/12/2017 15:35

Anyone who pays that money for that item is a prat with more money than sense.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 18/12/2017 15:39

Price is only what people will pay.so whilst she can ask for that no one compelled to buy

K0729P · 18/12/2017 15:41

OP don't worry about the "spoiler".

God help those posters, if we went back to the dark ages where you had to watch a programme live or wait for the repeat to be shown. OP has done you a favour. The final was shit (as was the entire series).

Definitely would not buy marked up sweets. Just ridiculous!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 18/12/2017 15:41

P.S selling overpriced sweets has nothing to do with public service cuts.conflating two unrelated events

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 18/12/2017 15:46

Debenhams had something very similar last year and this year, we bought jars to give to families with children.
I don’t think it’s aweful.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2017 15:47

It's ridiculous all the moaning minis out there. There show has already been aired last night, so it's not a spoiler. If it's that important to you, should have watched the show by now. Right have a gagging order on the media, so nothing can be published until you watch it!

AckWhatToDo · 18/12/2017 15:48

So AS gets 50% of a business turning over £400k in exchange for £250k "cash and value"?

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2017 15:49

That's how money is made. Look at people who buy designer clothes, and handbags, whose quality is no better than high street shops. People will pay for a name, especially if they know lord Sugar is behind this venture, byiur paying for a brand.

ZigZagandDustin · 18/12/2017 15:57

Aetoflotgirl, I think it's just manners usually to not spoil the end of a competition based show and to consider that for whatever reason some avid followers were unable to view the final. It's really not hard to indicate a spoiler is in a thread.

spottyblanketandtea · 18/12/2017 15:59

I went on fb lastnight and found out by accident. I blame myself. If i was that bothered I would have made sure to watch live or would have stayed off social media and forums until I could watch it.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2017 16:06

the thing Zig, it's already out there in the media and on Facebook, so yiu can't reLly avoid it if it's already been aired. It will be talked about in the telly addicts section of Mumsnet, you can't put a gagging order on every medium.

ZerbaPadnaTigre · 18/12/2017 16:08

I think the flaw with it is that there are high street shops and loads of people on Facebook selling the jars/cups of sweets for less money and no £5 delivery. If you need it delivering, there are companies who sell the sweets packaged in boxes that fit through a letter box so cheaper postage and no risk of the receiver having to go to the post office to collect it.

cathf · 18/12/2017 16:17

a fellow food business owner, I can't see how Sarah's business stacks up.
She looked to have around 10 staff, so based on them all working part-time, her wage bill would be about £1300-£1500 per week, assuming NMW. Then she needs a wage.
Her premises will have to be paid for, business rates, insurance etc etc.
Judging from the footage I saw, it doesn't not look as if she has any accreditation beyond an environmental health visit, which will be a barrier if she wants to get listings in eg supermarkets.
That's an awful lot of outgoings on the back of a few jars of sweets, which will have a very small margin to her.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2017 17:08

My dh bought me this last Christmas, you could order it (you get way more than Sarah's box), send it via Amazon to somebody.

UnicornRainbowColours · 18/12/2017 17:48

She hasn’t won yet? We don’t find out till this week. Way to spoil it for everyone’s

Archietheinventor · 18/12/2017 17:51

The final was last night

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2017 17:52

Did you not see on Sunday night, he is hiring both of them as he was not able to make a decision!

KathArtic · 18/12/2017 19:26

Have I got the wrong end of the drumstick here - I thought she was aiming for the corporate trade? "Miss Jones, Sandra and Tom from the London office did an excellent piece of work, please arrange for some pick and mix sweets in plastic tub to be sent to their office".

"Penelope, forgive me, I acted like a fool. I have arranged a boutique of flowers and a tub of fizzy cola bottles to be sent. Dickxx"

Hmm

And James White....James just needs 100 Cyber security specialists to fulfill his new idea of selling Cyber security specialists to the market.

numbereightyone · 18/12/2017 19:34

Give people the gift of diabetes.

Seriously though, I imagine there is a market for this sort of thing. Much cheaper though to buy a kilner jar and stuff it with sweets. Saying that, some people will spend £18 on this because as a society we have lost sight of the true value of goods.

Idreamofalandrover · 18/12/2017 20:39

Sometimes there's a "gap in the market" as there is no market. Kept on going about a luxury high end product, but it's just containing the same cheap ass enumber filled sweets.

If I worked with anyone that sent 800g of basic pick and mix and paid £23 for it, I wouldn't do much buisness with them unless I wanted to rip them off.
