Caked in makeup

Why do some women plaster it on like there's no tomorrow, on the school run, everyday without fail. Not just subtle but full on caked in the stuff. AIBU to think why?

"zigzag so? Is it then acceptable to be rude about someone's clothing choices?"

It's obviously fine to say you don't like certain clothes. I made the point about crocks and cold shouldered tops above. I think they look awful.
That's not an insult to any person, just of the clothes.

"Isn’t make up designed to be visible? Isn’t that rather the point of it? Nobody would bother if it couldn’t be seen.."

Depends. Foundation and concealer are not designed to be very obvious because the point of them is to make it look like you naturally have better skin. People still bother with it because it makes them look better in their opinion.
Obviously things like lipstick and eye shadow are supposed to be visible, but again there are degrees with some people going for a more natural look.

I thought this thread was going to be about calling out people who use such horrible phrases as 'caked in makeup'.

How disappointing.

"Of course, but that has nothing to do with this thread

Hi, I'm guessing you're new, but The bold sentence shows I'm answering another Poster who posed the question and it was not about heavy v natural, it was about any versus none.confused"

I'm not new so I found that very patronising.
My comment was about the point of the thread which is natural look (which can include some makeup) versus heavy makeup.

"I would say that caked in makeup translates as makeup that is visible. So you can see the face colour change (often orangey or overly fake tanned)"

I think of it as being a bit more than that. I wear foundation so you can probably see a change of colour around the neckline if I haven't blended it well enough, but 'caked' on makeup is a very thick layer that looks like stage makeup or a mask.
