.... for an episode of Peppa Pig whilst I take 15 minutes? He's been non stop today!

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2017 22:34

have 5 min peace when baby us napping hahahahahaha can you tell him he needs to naps please!!
busy playing with tab remote? Mine loves the remote...
when the father/grandma etc is there not everyone gets any familial support. No one has visited my house since... Erm... 2 weeks ago?
not so hard is it? sometimes for those of us who aren't perfect it really is. You're touched out, read the same book 3 times in a row, they're bored with every toy and you just need a drink because you realise you haven't needed to pee for 5 hours.

One episode of something other than Peppa Pig isn't going to ruin the child

mummy2oneandtwo · 13/12/2017 22:45

I like Peppa Pig, the one where they go to the zoo and Madame Gazelle is on edge around the lion and crocodile really makes me laugh.

Nothing wrong with using tv to entertain them for a bit while you get some stuff done, Little Baby Bum is lovely and around 30 minutes long Wink

And whoever mentioned the Stick song on Hey Dugee, I've had it stuck in my head for days now!

Originalfoogirl · 13/12/2017 22:47

I'll-scream-til-you-pick-me-up-why-did-you-pick-me-up-DON'T-PUT-ME-DOWN-YOU-UTTER-FOOL-YOU-ARE-DOING-THIS-ALL-WRONG game gets a bit tiring...

Oh Our girl LOVED that game!

I don't miss it.

Originalfoogirl · 13/12/2017 22:48

radio If you have Sky, try Baby TV, it's fabulous.

Ashamedandblamed · 13/12/2017 22:53

My 10 week old is a big big fan of Tipping Point. Means I can do homework with my 4 year old when we get home from school.

Looooooooool best thing I have read today.

Longdistance · 13/12/2017 22:59

Peppa Pig saved my sanity. We moved to Oz when dd1 was 2, and we had the dvds so she could watch them whilst I fed dd2, dozed, and had jobs to do, like unpack the house.

‘Suzy, can you whistle?’
‘No, how do you do that?’
‘You do and o with your lips, and blow’
‘Like this Peppa?’ Suzy whistles
Peppa hangs up the phone ...

StrugglingAlbion · 13/12/2017 23:03

My favourite was (and still is) Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. Lots of subtle adult humour and I think a really underrated show.

The theme makes me well up because it takes me right back to DD1's baby days.

She's only three now but she is all about Disney princesses these days.

BunsOfAnarchy · 13/12/2017 23:03

Rastamouse! On YouTube! My niece loves it.

BoomBoomsCousin · 14/12/2017 00:34

I don’t think a 4 minute episode of peppa pig is going to impair language development.

It's not about a baby watching one 4 minute episode though is it? It's about using a TV to entertain when you're tired. And if you're tired enough to want to use TV for only one 4 minute period before your baby is18 months you're probably doing just fine (and I am extremely jealous!). But most of us want that break a lot more often. The OP is here asking about 15 minutes, not 4, we're already over that line. If you use a different go-to distraction, it never becomes that thing that just grows.

LaurieMarlow · 14/12/2017 09:14

Children who are loved, well cared for, interacted with constantly throughout the day, read to everyday are not going to suffer delays from 15 minutes or (shock horror) half an hour of television a day.

frogmellah · 14/12/2017 09:42

What's that then? I have an 18m old age gap and I wouldn't leave the house before 11am without tv. I realise people coped without it before but maybe their kids got snapped at more? My toddler finds it hard to entertain herself, it's just her age, With tv she's happy and entertained while I get my shit together, not mithering me to play with her.
Then we go out and we do groups, walks, park, play dates. I think the trade off is worth it for a couple of hours (yes hours I'm afraid!) of tv.

BackBoiler · 14/12/2017 09:44

Get the stick badge episode of Hey Duggee. You can have a little rave whilst you have a breather!

BackBoiler · 14/12/2017 09:46

xposted about stick on Hey Duggee! I love the luminous 90s style rave painted tshirt he is wearing too!

OhOurBilly · 14/12/2017 11:54

Stick stick stick stick sticky sticky stick stick! Grin

We had the light up toys and glowsticks in the bath last night and I put it on, excelled fun! I think it's hilarious, Ds is bemused but amused while I'm raving to it! Everyone's a winner!

SleepingStandingUp · 14/12/2017 13:18

Despite all the horror stories of children's brains meshing after one episode of kids TV, its one thing my HV or my sons portage worker or SALT workers have never asked about. The telly is usually on when they get here, its turned off for their appointment and DS happily engages and plays / works. None of his proffesionals have ever suggested that age appropriate shows , many with a learning element (we love Numberblocks - DS is doing excellent geek impressions at 2.5 years) are in any way negatively affecting him. Clearly they havny come on MN for some education

Janetjanetjanet · 14/12/2017 13:20

Just don't watch Johnny eating too much sugar Johnny.

Newinthegame16 · 14/12/2017 14:11

This stick song is genius!

frogmellah · 14/12/2017 14:15

Just don't watch Johnny eating too much sugar Johnny.

Haha no papa!

SaucyJack · 14/12/2017 14:29

I'm very meh about telly generally

Peppa Pig is genuinely the worst of the lot tho. Funny for adults, but she's a seriously poor role model for small children. Obnoxious bullying brat who is never shown how to behave nicely.

There are much better things out there.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/12/2017 14:32

NumTums!

RadioGaGoo · 14/12/2017 14:33

'Can I give him some boxes?'

He's not a cat.

I’m about to go on an 8 hour flight and have downloaded all the Peppa bloody pig so everyone else on the flight can get some peace and quiet Xmas Grin

I’ve a very happy, independant 18 month old who loves playing outside in puddles (of all things Hmm) so nope, bang on ahead with the Peppa pig.

Don’t think sitting in front of a tv did me any harm Xmas Smile

RadioGaGoo · 14/12/2017 14:40

Offyougo. No it's not hard normally. But that day it was. I had already tried everything. He has toys, he has treasure baskets. I hadn't eaten, I hadn't had a drink. His father is at work, his grandmother is not near us. He's not sleeping. Your environment is clearly newer than mine. I bow to your amazing child rearing superiority.
