I used to stick ds1 in front of CBeebies when i worked nights and I couldn't sleep during then day when dh was at work because there were no adverts, once the adverts came on,on other channels he used to mither me for a drink or whatever I loved CBeebies so I could snooze .

Purplelion · 13/12/2017 15:15

My DD is 6 months old and has spent the majority of her life watching Sons of Anarchy 🤷‍♀️

Pseudousername · 13/12/2017 15:15

Get the "Stick Badge" episode of Hey Duggee on iPlayer for him, you won't regret it!

Stick, stick, stick, stick, sticky, sticky, stick, stick......

SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2017 15:16

Don't do it.

She seeps into their brains with her naughtiness and endless merchandise. Get CBeebieis

SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2017 15:17

My toddler annoyingly loves adverts. Parts more attention than Rio the damn shows

Believeitornot · 13/12/2017 15:18

I’m going to judge. Sorry! But there you go.

8 months old Hmm he can hardly chase you like a toddler, so why do you even need the tv. Just leave the room and make sure he’s safe.

Ecureuil · 13/12/2017 15:19

DD1 could walk at 8 months! DD2 was crawling. So they definitely could chase me!

SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2017 15:21

Believeitornot no but they can scream blue murder. You'd rather she left her child to cry for 15 minutes than a one off telly babysitting??

Believeitornot · 13/12/2017 15:21

My ds walked at 9 months but could be contained by his cot....

RadioGaGoo · 13/12/2017 15:22

Believeitornot. I'm going to judge too and I'm not sorry. I'm not going to leave a crying 8 month old in a room by himself.

OP posts:
Believeitornot · 13/12/2017 15:22

If baby was screaming blue murder then I doubt tv would work.

Prusik · 13/12/2017 15:23

DS is 11 months and still hasn't mastered the art of tv watching despite my best efforts. However, op, do you have amazon prime. I'm obsessed with "The stinky and dirty show" Grin "wishenpoof" is a close second

AnonEvent · 13/12/2017 15:25

I used to try desperately to make DD enjoy a bit of telly at 6-10 months old, just for five minutes break. She completely ignored it. Boo to her!!

Fingers crossed for DC is more receptive!

SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2017 15:27

Ithink the idea is to ""ruin his entire life"" by butting telly on before she leaves him so jay he went cry.

Radio Youtube SMALL POTATOES. DS loved loved loved them at that age

Believeitornot · 13/12/2017 15:33
Hmm

Well I’m going to go because I’m a believer in not relying on tv for babies and clearly in the minority.

TV is a bit shit. Use it a little and it gradually slides into your kids are watching several hours a day.

RadioGaGoo · 13/12/2017 15:50

That's okay believeitornot, I'm not a believer in using a cot to contain a baby unless it's sleeping, so I know how you feel.

FlyingChristmasTree · 13/12/2017 15:58

@Ecureuil 😯 I love in the night garden 😂

FlyingChristmasTree · 13/12/2017 16:02

Urgh @Believeitornot crawl back under your judgy perfect parent rock BiscuitHmmConfused

mistermagpie · 13/12/2017 16:06

If I put the tv on it has no effect at all on my 8 month old, I do have it on kids shows because I also have a toddler but he doesn't even look at it. I was always baffled by (and jealous of!) these 6 months old who watched tv so their mum could get a minute.

DS1 only reliably watched tv from about 18 months, I hope yours is better! But I'm a Peppa scaremonger - I actually quite like it compared to some of the shows but I swear his behaviour is terrible when he's been watching it.

Anatidae · 13/12/2017 16:06

TV is a bit shit

Well yes. It is.

Use it a little and it gradually slides into your kids are watching several hours a day.

Who has hours a day? It’s a ten minutes please watch this cute YouTube of counting rhymes while I cook you something.

Contained by a cot? Why on earth would I shove a baby into a cot upstairs for him to be alone and cry rather than sing along to some nursery rhymes with him sitting a few yards from me?

TV is a tool. It can be great - ds is trilingual and it helps his exposure to the minority language. It can also be shit, but it’s how you use it. Just like an iPad can be used to shut them up or to skype granny for fun.

But containing them in a cot alone isn’t better parenting than singing along to something in the telly.

TeaBelle · 13/12/2017 16:09

When dd was tiny and having a real grump, Jeremy Kyle used to chill her right out Blush we don't let her watch now but it was like witchcraft

TammySwansonTwo · 13/12/2017 16:13

Two words for you: Hey Duggee

You're welcome.

Ecureuil · 13/12/2017 16:14

Bollocks. When mine were babies I probably put it on for 20 mins a day if I needed to do something. Now they’re 4 and 2.5... and I probably put it on for about 20 mins a day.

SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2017 16:36

DS spent 4 months in hospital between 10 and 14 months, it was on a lot because there's a limit to how much entertaining you can do when they are literally stick in bed at that age. He had tons of toys and I was the annoying mom who was always singing or reading or making the puppet dance but 13 hours of literally just the same bedspace. ... He'll take OT or leave it now. He loves Numberblocks and Alpha blocks, fetches his Charlie and Lola books when they're on, signs to Mr Tumble. It depends on how you use it but there's lots of lovely educational shows on CBEEBIES. Rather that than alone in his cot crying

Anyway OP did your DC watch it and did you get any peace?

crackerjacket · 13/12/2017 16:41

I love Freddie Fox.

And the broad Lancahsire Vet, she's wicked.
