The virus can be very harmful to babies

Yadbnu - cold sore virus can be extremely serious in babies. Did you say anything to the person? They need to be educated in case they make a habit of kissing babies.

It can be fatal. Have your baby check out by a Dr

YANBU
Firstly they can be dangerous to babies.
Secondly it is gross to share kissy coldsores with anyone.

No yanbu. Depending on the age of the baby they can be seriously ill by coming into contact with the cold sore virus!

I would definitely object and it was totally stupid of the person with the cold sore to do without questioning it

Good grief!! YADNBU.

Terrible. You need to say something in case they are an inveterate baby kisser. Gross and dangerous.

I'd be absolutely furious. What kind of idiot would do that?

How old is the baby? It's rare for it to be very dangerous and it gets less dangerous as the Baby gets older. It's gross but on the head is at least better than mouth (they're still very wrong I just don't want you to panic)

Absolutely bloody NOT!!!!

Christ, I only finished a reading a story about a young baby who died due to the herpes virus (after being kissed). That baby was kissed on the mouth though. YADNBU to not want anyone with cold sores kissing your baby, really they should know better tbh.

That is shocking and sore rude!
I don't miss my own kids if I have a cold sore.
There has been so much awareness about this in the news etc so the person should know already.
Did you say anything to the person?

Report
Fluffycoffeemachine · 12/12/2017 18:13

No I was too shocked and she wouldnt understand anyway

I hope your night goes okay and you little one has no reaction. ❤

I agree it’s really bad- but they may not have well not have known. It’s not something people without babies are necessarily aware of. Hope your baby is okay.

I'd be angry too, what an idiot.
Do you get coldsores, op? If you do, baby should still have the antibodies.

YANBU. Got a 12 day old here and several times since birth midwives have specifically said to not allow people with cold sores to kiss the baby.

rackelle · 12/12/2017 20:33

Woah no YADNBU
They should avoid contact with anyone whilst they have it let alone a tiny baby!! What a moron
