For some reason I thought it was good luck if they cross your path, bad luck if you cross their path.

Give way to blacks cats, basically. No idea where I heard it though.

Slinkymalinky1 · 12/12/2017 00:34

Only came here for the gorgeous black cat pics, that I knew would follow Smile I pass my neighbours black cat every day and have been good so far Wink

OliviaStabler · 12/12/2017 00:36

Good luck

Slinkymalinky1 · 12/12/2017 00:36

Hallow that second pic just shows how beautiful black cats are! They don't normally photograph well, but wow! Look at that shiny coat!

Slinkymalinky1 · 12/12/2017 00:37

And weeds, those eyes! Just gorgeous

MercianQueen · 12/12/2017 00:48

No idea whether it’s good or bad luck. But I have had one sat on me and/or my laptop for the entire day, and it definitely does not aid productivity Shock

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/12/2017 00:52

Well this one lives with me and she's gorgeous.

Janetjanetjanet · 12/12/2017 00:53

Good luck.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 12/12/2017 00:55

I have a black cat. He’s a wee shit. Grin

Spybot · 12/12/2017 01:00

Good luck in the UK. Bad luck in the US and Italy.

ForagingForFaerieGold · 12/12/2017 01:06

Only bad luck if he trips you on the stairs Grin
Mine never does that of course.

Assuming you're in the UK, unless you're a pirate you'll be grand. And weirdly, in Italy, black cats' sneezes are still counted as lucky despite the general superstition re: bad luck.

Look at this adorable little thing. He instinctively snuggles my most painful joints, will help with respiratory physio, has a Special Meow reserved for when I have a fever, & when I'm ill will let me sleep in rather than wake me to ask for breakfast. Not that he'd be crossing random people's paths as he & his brother decided as kittens that they're housecats & he hides from strangers (with the notable exception of the time he thought the Nutricia nurses doing my new-to-tubefeeding home-check thingy were hurting/distressing me & came sprinting into the room, ricocheting off the walls, yowling ferociously, then very obviously wanted to run away - Because Strangers - but ended up sitting on top of the door making it very loudly known he was keeping a close eye on things...) BUT clearly he is a fluffy little blessing.

I wasn't expecting all the cat pics, but thanks! I'm in the uk, but was always taught it was bad luck, but others say good.

One darted from right to left in front of my car yesterday. I'm not really superstitious but I'm overdue with baby and getting desperate! Hoping for a consensus of 'good luck'

If a black cat crosses your path, as PP said, it means it's going somewhere. If you cross a black cat's path it means you're clearly not stopping to give it attention so you'll get a nip on the back of the leg. Although that might just be mine.

The reason why I'm awake at nearly 5am is because of the furry shit!

Wishing you a super speedy labour Flowers.

I sleep better when my black feline overlord deigns to warm my feet. I count myself lucky to be his cat slave, and to be the cat slave of the grey fluffy over Lord as well. Both are currently on the bed purring their heads off.

BarrowInFurnessBusDepot · 12/12/2017 07:57

My black cat frequently crosses my path and I can’t see him so I end up tripping over.

All cats are good luck, the black ones are extra lucky.

Did you know that black cats are the least likely to get adopted?
Did you also know that (particularly in America) owners of black cats have to keep them in over Halloween because of people attacking them?

They're animals, loving friendly, furry, purely, snuggly animals, nothing to be afraid of.

gunsandbanjos · 12/12/2017 08:07

Definitely good luck.

My beautiful black girl came into our lives awhile ago now and the only way her crossing my path is bad luck is when she attempts to kill me by me I mean my feet and ankles!

RaspberryRipple63 · 12/12/2017 20:29

Well I've had 2 black cats cross my path in recent years and they've both ended up becoming permanent fixtures. I count that as good luck.

Ollivander84 · 12/12/2017 20:33

Lucky but I'm biased Grin

My darling black cat crosses my path about 20 times a day Xmas Smile

BubblesBubblesBubbles · 12/12/2017 20:49

Bloody lucky - especially the tiny black kitten I found in a box with his dead siblings. He’s a big handsome boy now. And the other black kitten I rescued from a house covered in filth.

Spot the cats Xmas Grin

One is black and white tho and he’s just as bloody lovely. Mind you all cats are in my eyes.
