To think Hey Duggee is witchcraft? Any kids / xmas films that can engross young toddlers?

My boys (15mo) are absolutely transfixed by Hey Duggee - they could literally watch it on repeat for hours and not look away. We are all really poorly so there's been lots of CBeebies action over the past few days but it's sending me a bit mental.

Clearly Duggee and whatever else contains some sort of child-hypnotising black magic that they find it so entertaining, but I put on Arthur Christmas yesterday and they didn't last two mins before getting bored.

Are there any actual films that are as entertaining to kids of this age as CBeebies programmes? Would be nice to have some snotty movie cuddle time.

Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom on you tube keeps DD transfixed. (she's 3)

From about 2ish she would watch Wally the whole way through without moving.

MrsOH2004 · 09/12/2017 15:39

DD2 loves Hey Duggee Grin

DanceIndiaDance · 09/12/2017 15:41

My DD1 (now 13) when she was three was in love with my neighbour totoro...it is somewhat hypnotic, not sure why!

Trafficjammadness · 09/12/2017 15:43

Grimbles · 09/12/2017 15:43

Apart from Duggee CBeebies ballets do the trick here. Also weirdly cliff Richard films Hmm

banannabreadforme · 09/12/2017 15:48

Our 22 month old is obsessed with Bing bunny. I so wish she would like the twirlywoos

faceremovinghairscream · 09/12/2017 15:49

Bloody love Hey Duggee, by far the best thing on CBeebies. I got more excited than the kids about the new episodes. Anyone seen The Stick Badge?!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/12/2017 15:52

Just in case anyone stick curious views the thread....

The way duggee runs really creeps me out. It's like he's gone rabid or something.

TammySwansonTwo · 09/12/2017 16:49

HD actually manages to make me raise a smile on occasion, I even laughed out loud once.... it's getting a bit old though.

I will try some Ghibli but I think I'm on a hiding to nothing for a while yet. Hopefully we will all feel better soon and can do something other than lie around whimpering in front of the telly!

I love hey Duggee.
The four year old will watch those CBeebies proms/plays all day. I look forward to supporting him through a life of penury as a struggling stage actor.

TheresALight · 09/12/2017 17:03

DR loves Hey Duggee but won't stay still for any films unless they have absolutely no talking and are music only. So if she's ill we watch The Snowman and Farmers Llamas on repeat!

Pandoraslastchance · 09/12/2017 17:04

My 4yo and 3yo watched ponyo this morning and were hypnotized (and blissfully quiet)

Totoro, howls moving castle, Ponyo and kikis delivery service are very much loved by the little ones. Ghibli has some beautiful films.

Now Dugee on the other hand I really dislike and the bloody stick song has been stuck in my head for days (as has the rude version my oh keeps singing 'dick Didn't)

DMCWelshCakes · 09/12/2017 17:39

I love Hey Duggee.

DC are far too old for it, but find it as funny as I do.

I even watch it when they're not home.

boxoftoads · 09/12/2017 17:43

I loved the random Deer in the river badge

Alright Sweetheart 😂

Had me in stitches for hours

TammySwansonTwo · 09/12/2017 17:54

Haha. That's the bit that made me laugh too!

DS who is almost 4 has some rather bizarre taste in TV.

He is transfixed by the usual cbeebies/nick combinations particularly Paw Patrol and Blaze. However DD (13) has recently introduced him to Life In the Dream House (Barbie), H20 A Mermaids Tale and Blaize the spirit horse I think it's called. We can plug him into that shit and it's a guaranteed half an hour of peace.

happilyeverafta · 09/12/2017 18:04

Hello Sweetlings!!! Love a bit of Hey Duggee!

Chickens! Thanks for all the eggs chickens!

Ha need to stop watching it Smile

Tobebythesea · 09/12/2017 19:10

We LOVE hey duggie in this house. I also got excited about the new episodes.

The only other thing that engrosses her that much is Frozen.

RocketPockets · 09/12/2017 19:58

Moana!
My DS is absolutely transfixed by it every time it’s on. We went through a period of watching it every day. He barely watches any other tv apart from Disney jr occasionally. A few of my friends with toddlers also believe moana has some kind of hypnotising element to it to young children!

Ionacat · 09/12/2017 20:09

Prep and Landing which is how elves prep for Father Christmas’ visit transfix my pair.

Scrowy · 09/12/2017 20:11

DP is making vague murmurings about trying to get the stick song to Christmas no 1...

Hmm
