To think this text from neighbour was weird?

We were sorting out an arrangement for something to be dropped off at my home and she finished the text with "Ok, thanks. Bye." Found it a bit odd is all.

What’s weird about it?

She acknowledged your last message (ok) expressed thanks (thanks) and then signaled the end of the conversation (bye).

Seems pretty clear, concise and polite to me.

Most people don't say bye in texts I agree but I don't think it's a big deal.

Ohforfucksake - so your DD and DH use the word Bye (the short form of goodbye) as a sign off?

Essentially Goodbye shortened then?

Why is that "new" or confusing?

I suppose if you were terminally stupid it might go over your head...

We were using 'Bye' back when I was a nipper in the 1960s.

"Bye" is the shortening of "Goodbye".

It really isn't difficult.

I use 'bye' as 'I'm going to stop this conversation now and not respond anymore' as some people seem to think that they must respond to a text message, even when everything has already been said.
