We were sorting out an arrangement for something to be dropped off at my home and she finished the text with "Ok, thanks. Bye." Found it a bit odd is all.

Haha! DD recently put "notwithstanding" in a text. I think It was to reassure me because she and her friends also went through a phase of every opening text being "WUU2?" (What are you up to?)

NellGwynn · 09/12/2017 08:38

A neighbour who doesn't end a text with kisses to a virtual stranger!

To think this text from neighbour was weird?
Brandbrandbrandy · 09/12/2017 08:39

What did you find odd about it OP?

MatildaTheCat · 09/12/2017 08:50

I think it’s very odd indeed to receive a text from a casual acquaintance that doesn’t end with a flood of xxxxxxs and emojis.

Your neighbour is a CF.

kaytee87 · 09/12/2017 08:56

I don't think it's odd, she's just saying 'bye' to end the conversation.

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 09/12/2017 09:00

Are you for real? I take it you don’t get enough attention in real life so have posted this .

What would you expect her to say to end her text “ salutations but parting is such sweet sorrow” I’m sorry but you sound weird.

insancerre · 09/12/2017 09:03

Did you want her to end it with a x?

Roomba · 09/12/2017 09:08

Oh god PanPan my mother used to use cum instead of come.

Mine too! She tried hard to use 'textspeak' but it's just weird coming from her. She'll write stuff like 'Hav U seen Corrie 2nite? Was really gud. R we OK 2 cum on Sun?' and I just cringe! She's such a pedant for good spelling in grammar usually but she seems to think textspeak is compulsory. I've tried explaining that she has unlimited texts so there's no need to limit characters and she has an android phone with keyboard so no need to shorten things to save key presses as if it were 2001, but she persists.

My teen DS once dumped a girl because she’d only type in text speak.
He also ended another relationship as the young woman in question didn’t know who Rod Stewart or Bob Dylan was.
DS was, at the grand age of 15, disappointed that a fellow teen did not know the same cultural references as him Confused Grin

fartypantsmummy · 09/12/2017 09:28

Maybe she was in a mad rush on her way out of the door and wanted to respond to you quickly rather than seem to ignore you - I do this all the time - I'm always in rush! ta c u soon x is a typical text from me.

mygrandchildrenrock · 09/12/2017 09:31

I'm not clear what you found odd about it, please come back and explain.

ButchyRestingFace · 09/12/2017 09:37

EXPLANATION REQUIRED NOOOOOWWWWWWWW, OP.

MsHomeSlice · 09/12/2017 09:37

are you a nuisance texter OP? One who cannot just let it go, one who KEEPS responding?

Maybe that's why! As a pp said, it is simply a clear mark of the end of the conversation, and really cannot see what there is to be confused about.

and also YES...it surely should have been Kthxbai! :o

StarOnTheTopOfTheTree · 09/12/2017 09:39

I'm very confused. I really can't see why it would be considered weird or odd anyway, but certainly not to the point of starting a thread about it. Confused

Sweetpea55 · 09/12/2017 09:40

I think it's you that's odd... Thinking it's odd

Helendee · 09/12/2017 09:41

Can someone PLEASE explain what's going on here, I'm in the dark.
What on earth was wrong with the text? 😶😶

Ethereum · 09/12/2017 09:42

The text itself not weird. You reaction though gets my vote for the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard of/read 😂

ButchyRestingFace · 09/12/2017 09:46

What on earth was wrong with the text? 😶😶

Don't PRETEND you don't know.

That is possibly the oddest, most offensive sign off I've seen in a loooong time.

JonSnowsWife · 09/12/2017 09:51

Nothing odd about that text.

I usually just get a "K" off DD never mind a neighbour Grin

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 09/12/2017 10:13

It's very sinister. Remain on high alert and keep your neighbour under surveillance for the next few days.

What was she dropping off at your home? This might help us decode the mysterious text.

ButchyRestingFace · 09/12/2017 10:18

It's very sinister. Remain on high alert and keep your neighbour under surveillance for the next few days.

Since it's Christmas and all, I could even stretch to donating a few tin foil hats and rations for the underground bunker if the worst comes to the worst.

But let us hope things won't get that far...

😬😬😬

Sanshin · 09/12/2017 10:21

She sounds like a psychopath- report her to the police before you end up with a horses severed head in the mail.

Floellabumbags · 09/12/2017 10:22

My mother once texted me "Happy Birthday". It wasn't my birthday. She claimed that her phone did it all by itself!

NumberEightyOne · 09/12/2017 10:23

Funniest thread I've seen in a while.

ButchyRestingFace · 09/12/2017 10:26

The fact that OP hasn't returned to the thread does not bode well.

Maybe the neighbour has done an Ayra Stark on her and baked her in a pie.

Please come back, OP!!!! Sad
